What travelers to Downtown - Fremont St are saying

Impossible to be bored - no matter what your vacation preferences may be. Sure, no ocean, but other than that, Plenty of Options. Love, love, love the High Roller Ferris Wheel - not to be missed! Close to Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, TV's Pawn Stars, Rick's Restoration, Count Kustoms, and don't forget the Stratosphere! Oh, and Fun but Freaky Fremont Street.

NOTHING was cheap. Vegas has changed so much over my lifetime. It is now more than ever a suckers bet. Better bring a lot of dough even if you don't gamble. It seems they have to make a killing in everything they offer. $7 beers and 3.50 bottles of water were happy hour prices. All I can say is stay downtown for the bestbang for the buck.
SCOTT M. May 14, 2015
We love Vegas! We come at least once a year. I think some hotels can be more family friendly. There is still only one super family oriented hotel, but it's neither new or modern. Some young couples with children would like an experience that is both chic/modern, but caters to children and their families.

Experience real Vegas in Downtown Fremont Street

Situated just north of the famed Las Vegas Strip, downtown fans out around Fremont Street, an area that has experienced a renaissance in recent years. Formerly frequented by budget tourists seeking big-name casinos, investments and renovations have transformed this street into a hip destination for those seeking fun outside of the glitzy Strip.

Stroll beneath the Fremont Street Experience, a barrel vault canopy stretching across four blocks that hosts elaborate light shows, nightly live music, wild street performers, drink specials, kitschy souvenir stores, zip -line rides, exotic dance clubs and casinos. One block east of the Fremont Street Experience lies a corridor of trendy, urban bars and pubs for a younger crowed unfazed by the cheap thrills of lights and distraction. Throngs of unique individuals flock to downtown Vegas where neon signs glow through the night, and the second most famous street in the city beckons.

Special events

Life Is Beautiful festival

The Life is Beautiful festivalhas become an annual event dedicated to inspiring people and meeting new friends. The event has attracted big names such as Kanye West, Arctic Monkeys, Outkast, Foo Fighters, Skrillex and Lionel Ritchie, to name just a few. If you love live music, October could be the best time of year to stay at Downtown - Fremont St hotels. Purchase a three-day pass and wander the festival grounds and multiple stages sprawled across the downtown streets, or book a suite at one of the hotels, open your windows and experience the action from the comfort of your room.

First Friday downtown arts festival

If you happen to be in town on the first Friday of any month, you'll get to see how the locals experience Las Vegas. The heart and soul of downtown, First Friday is a monthly festival featuring the best local musicians, artists, performers and food vendors that Las Vegas has to offer. There is no admission fee and anyone can spend a memorable Friday evening without spending a dime. Once a small gathering attended mostly by disaffected high school students unable to party in an adult-oriented city, First Friday has matured into a hub for the best homegrown talent available in the City of Entertainment.

Downtown - Fremont St hotels

Fremont Street has hotels with varying personalities. Stay at one of the historic properties of Las Vegas, including the Golden Nugget, Four Queens or the Plaza to name a few. Many of these hotels have been renovated with modern amenities, but guests are sure to feel nostalgic for Vegas' rich past here too. For the trendy crowd, newer hotels like The D on Fremont Street - the tallest accommodation option in the city - and Downtown Grand are in order. No matter which property you choose, the excitement of downtown Las Vegas is always just a few steps away.

Best time to visit

Downtown Las Vegas is renowned for its scorching summer temperatures which can reach highs of 117 degrees. The only thing higher than the summer temperatures is the number of people that arrive in Vegas every day looking for entertainment, glitz and distinctive accommodations with glittering pools, house shows and world-class restaurants. This is not a bad time to visit Las Vegas, but the lowest rates can be found during the off-season, which is typically between the week after Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas. During this period, temperatures are comfortable (it rarely snows) and room rates can be as low as $30 per night. In fact, many people from Canada and the colder states visit during this time to escape the winter snowstorms and blizzards.
