Santa Fe, founded in 1607, is the capital of the state of
New Mexico in the United States. Santa Fe is consistently rated one of the
world's top travel destinations for its confluence of scenic beauty, long
history (at least by American standards), cultural diversity, and extraordinary
concentration of arts, music and fine dining.
Santa Fe was once the capital of Spain's, and then Mexico's,
territories north of the Rio Grande, but its visible history extends far beyond
the arrival of the Spanish; it is thought to have been the site of Puebloan
villages that had already been long abandoned by the time the Spanish arrived
in 1607. It became the state capital when the territory of New Mexico achieved
statehood in 1912.
In the early 20th century, the area attracted a number of
artists, such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. The region remains
important on America's art scene. The arrival of Igor Stravinsky and the
founding of the Santa Fe Opera, one of the world's leading opera companies had
a similarly invigorating and enduring influence on the musical community. Many
people go to Santa Fe for spiritual gatherings and to practice meditative arts
at the many spas and resorts that are in and around Santa Fe.

Room not as large or otherwise nice as I expected for the very high price. Parking charge exorbitant. Swimming pool tiny. Exercise room small. Restaurant food good, and reasonably priced. Consistently excellent service from everyone. 5-minute walk from the plaza is nice; but for a 10-minute walk, we could have stayed in a very nice place for at least $100 a night less.

The condo was comfortable and convenient. The location, high above Santa Fe, is excellent. The pool is clean and welcoming, and not too deep (good for younger children). The kitchen facilities were good. The only real problem is that we could not locate the office. The sign should read "Fort Marcy Hotel Suites" as well as "office".

- Jan 30, 2012
The room was 64 degrees with the furnace off when we arrived at 7:30 pm. It took until 10:30 pm until we got warm. Otherwise, the suite (really a single floor condo) was comfortable and extremely roomy with plenty of furniture. The TVs are very old, tube, with no cable. The beds were comfortable and the supplies, toiletries, towels, etc., were adequate. We enjoyed the roomy condo very much due to it's proximity near downtown, except for the very cold start.

The hotel is located way out Cerrillos Road a long way from the historic areas of SantaFe such as the plaza or galleries on Canyon Road.
The hotel is well designed and the rooms are very nicely furnished with comfortable beds.
Since Best Western spent so much effort on the hotel environment, I was puzzled by the lack of hot water in the shower/bath tub. No hot water either morning we were there. I don't like cold showers!

The rooms can be a little noisy depending on the clients that are boarded above your room. The next time I stay there I will request a second floor room. The staff was extremely professional and the shuttle service to the plaza was a real plus,

This hotel is close to downtown and has a shuttle with a great informative driver. The breakfast was great with a wonderful hostess who made sure you had what you needed. The rooms are a bit small and had a few issues..our tv keep turning black and white. They do need to add microwaves and fridges to the rooms. The water if soft in the shower and I think they need to add hand held shower heads to help save some water. Housekeeping in great and everyone is friendly. Worth the price!

The St Francis is located in the heart of old town Santa Fe. You are in walking distance to any place downtown. Its a lovely hotel with nice and comfertable open areas, and comfortable rooms. Its all been redecorated in a clean Spanish colonial style with a modern twist. The staff is always helpful and patient. If you have a car, its snap to park. I supose the only thing i can say in caution is that the rooms tend to be warm while the heat operates, but the windows are compleatly able to open and it solves that issue. Sometimes you might hear street noise. But isn't that city living?

Perfect location, couldn't be any any better. Rooms are small but clean with limited amenities. Bed's were very comfortable. Hotel itself is very nice and beautiful. Room was hot for the winter time. The thermostat didn't seem to work. You could open the windows but could hear the noise of delivery trucks, etc throughout the night. Great hotel if you are planning to spend most of your time out in the wonderful downtown area. Not so good if you are planning to spend the majority of your time in the room.

Relaxing Weekend Getaway
-
KEshelman
- Mar 12, 2012
My husband and I stayed in a Junior Suite. It was the perfect size for our weekend getaway. We knew there was a fireplace, but didn't realize it was wood-burning. This was perfect for us. You have to call ahead and have the receptionist send the the "fire guy". He came within 10 minutes and built the fire for you and left extra logs so we could keep it going. Every member of the staff we encounter was very friendly, welcoming, and seemed to genuinely care about how our stay was going.

Highlight of our stay in New Mexico!

Wonderful Inn lodging. From the moment we arrived, my husband and I were welcomed and enjoyed warm hospitality. The front desk staff handled our unexpected arrival (one day early - my fault!) with good humor and kindness, and put us up in a fabulous room (King-sized bed, fireplace) for the evening at a very reasonable price. The next day, we were transferred seamlessly to our earlier-reserved Queen-bed room (also lovely). We stayed three nights (instead of two) because of the ambience, location (short walking distance to the Historic Districts and fabulous restaurants), great room, convenient parking, delicious breakfasts (included), afternoon cookies, and fabulous staff!

We arrived 3 hours before check in. They gave us a room early. The location of the room wasn't acceptable to us. They allowed us to use the room until another room was ready (about 4 hours later). We spent the day at the pool. [...]at the pool does it all. We sat down and were immediately served lemon ice water, which she promptly filled throughout our time at the pool. She claims no one gets head stroke on her watch, and I don't doubt it. She served snacks and drinks with great efficiency and always with a smile. When we did check in our new room they had cocktails waiting for us for the inconvenience, which really was not an inconvenience at all. The hotel provides free shuttle service that friendly and readily available. The hotel is within a easy walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice lounge and restaurant too. The hotel grounds were well maintained and amenities were well marked. Enjoyed a hot rock and rolling thunder massage at the hotel spa. The hotel is tranquil and nice for a get away from the kids. We would visit Santa Fe again and definitely stay at La Posada!

We used La Posada for relaxation, exercise, and as a base for touring local museums and the surrounding area. The room was quiet, well-appointed (two comfortable reading chairs plus a desk), and well-lighted. Services were outstanding, especially the valet parking and shuttle van crew and the concierge. Food was excellent, but service in dining room was slow even when not busy.

We really enjoyed staying at Las Palomas. The location was very good and quiet, and it happened to be very close to a bar with good live music. The breakfasts were awesome, featuring omelets, waffles, fruit and lots of other tasty stuff. The proprietors were very helpful in providing information on where to eat, hike and see sights. We had a two-room suite with a mini-kitchen and the only downsides were that the bedroom was too dark and the water was lukewarm for the last 2 days. We would definitely go back, however.

Quick Santa Fe Trip
-
Dad and Daughter Travels
- Apr 20, 2012
Smallish room but comfortable bed. Centrally located. Lobby bar area is cozy, with a rustic lodge-like feel. Beautiful exterior lighting at night. Dinner at restaurant was nothing special, supposed to be native american inspired but dishes generally lacked flavor intensity. However the three course prix fixe is a nice idea and could be a good value depending upon your choices.

It has been years since I was last in Sante Fe, but when my schedule opened up I decided to take my family on a quick ski trip.
We enjoyed our visit at this hotel, very close to the plaza for some shopping and local "flavor" of the unique Blue Corn Mexican food. The Sante Fe ski area was just a short drive away with the entrance to the National Forest just moments from the hotel.
The rooms were pleasant and clean, the staff was open and friendly without being intrusive. The night we arrived, my son and I went to the fitness center for a quick run and workout after being in the car for several hours. We were not keeping track of the time and our workout went past the gym's closing. The staff was not rude or pushy, the just quietly waited until we were done

Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe March 2011

super snowboarding dad
- Mar 19, 2011
We went to primarily go skiing in Ski Santa Fe and to also tour the Santa Fe Plaza. The room's heating system was bothersome. The heater emits heat even while turned off, so the room became quite warm. Also, we were on the 2nd floor of a two-story unit, so likely the heat from the bottom units migrated up. The horses were all booked up when we wanted to check it out, and the "heated" pool was only heated to the mid 70's in temperature, and the pool could have been cleaner (lots of leaves in the pool). The beds were also not comfortable. The fold-out bed was not useable.

Convenient and Comfortable

Nice place to stay within an easy walk of the Plaza area. The room was comfortable and the staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. I was also pleased to find a much better breakfast spread than American hotels generally provide. The hotel might gain an extra star if slightly more attention to detail was paid to the room (wobbly chair, dusty window, chipped paint), but overall I was pleased and would stay there again.

I enjoyed my stay at Inn on the Paseo. I am basing my review on the off-season price that I payed for a deluxe King room with fireplace. I feel like it was a good deal for the off-season price.
My room was large and the gas fireplace really heated the room well and was a nice feature. The bed was very comfortable with a nice blanket. The room had original artwork which was a nice touch. There was good lighting in the room from bedside lights, overhead lights, and windows. I was able to store my luggage in the closet. My room faced the back and was very quiet. I liked having an outside entrance to the room with a little outdoor seating area.
The breakfast was okay. There was fresh fruit, cottage cheese, bagels, toast, hard boiled eggs, and muffins. The croissants and cookies looked and tasted like the Pillsbury ones. There weren't any waffles, but it was a satisfying breakfast. The coffee and teas were good too.
I had a restful stay and enjoyed the location's closeness to Canyon Rd. and the plaza. I would stay there again.

Two Nights in Santa Fe

I was impressed. When I see my final Orbitz bill and if it really is $50.00 a night I will be delighted! I will stay again next year an will try these Lamplighter hotels at other locations as I travel much to much, 270 days a year. The road constructon and un-coordinated traffic signals on Cerrillos Road are why the location is poor. When the construction is complete and the lights are set the location will be OK. Mike

This was a good budget hotel. Clean room and friendly front desk staff. We did have to put up with the usual from a budget hotel--heating unit (with no thermostat) and very average continental breakfast. But overall, I couldn't have asked for more and was happy with our choice.
