Albuquerque Hotels

Albuquerque is a vibrant, sprawling desert metropolis near the center of New Mexico. It is the largest city in the state and has a number of great attractions in its own right, with pleasant scenery, colorful history, and a spectacular hot-air balloon fiesta in the fall.

Albuquerque was founded in 1706 as a small Spanish settlement on the banks of the Rio Grande and was named for the Duke of Albuquerque. In the 1880s the railroad came to town, and almost overnight a new city grew up around the train tracks a couple of miles away from the original settlement. This "New Town" became the hub of commerce for the state, and the city grew exponentially. Eventually the "New Town", which today is Downtown, and the original "Old Town" settlement were joined to become part of the same city.

In the 1920s the federal government officially recognized a series of highways that ran from Chicago to Los Angeles as Route 66, and Albuquerque was one of the towns "The Mother Road" passed through. Today, Albuquerque is still the hub of commerce and transportation in the state. While Santa Fe is the state capital and the principal tourist destination of New Mexico, Albuquerque is the state's only truly urban area, with a city population of over 500,000 and a metropolitan population of nearly a million people. This is where you'll find the headquarters of the state's businesses, the University of New Mexico, and the Albuquerque International Sunport, the only major airport in the state.

Overall experience was very good. Great atmosphere. The only complaints were, my 7:30 wake-up came at 7:45. My friends and I waited at the bar for the restaurant to open, which it never did, I saw a cockroach in the bathroom, however, if you have ever been to New Mexico and it is raining (which happens maybe 2 or 3 times a year), then you know it is not that uncommon to see bugs. The conference was at the hotel so it was pretty much hassle free. It is a beautiful hotel and overall a very good experience.

I used to live in Albuquerque a few years ago, but had never considered staying in the SW quadrant, near the airport. It was a very good decision though, I was central to all the interstates, which was perfect since I had a tight travel schedule. Also, the hotel itself was very nice, clean, comfortable, & the staff was great. For the price I paid, I was expecting less but this definitely exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend!

We've been traveling to Albuquerque from New York City. I gotta tell you that was worth it! Great location, ala Wild West room decor and nice hotel staff will make you trip to Albuquerque unforgettable. Just a few minutes from Old Town and great Mexican cuisine. And even there is a very affordable liqueur store (just across bridge over Rio Grande) where you can buy a bottle of tequila plus big box of margarita mix - it will be enough for 2-3 days. I'm gonna visit Albuquerque certainly next year!!! Great great city! People are very open and honest.

FROM CHECK IN TO CHECK OUT THE STAFF AND FACILITIES OF THE HOTEL WERE GREAT. THE HOTEL RESTAURANT SEEMED A BIT HIGHT PRICED FOR THE QUALITY OF FOOD AND SERVICE PROVIDED. DUE TO THE HEAVY TRAFFIC IN ABQ GETTING INTO AND ESPECIALLY OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WAS DIFFICULT. I HAD PURCHASED A PACKAGE DEAL FOR HOTEL AND AUTOMOBILE AND DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE TWO WERE MILES APART, MOSTLY BECAUSE I ARRIVED AT ABQ ON AMTRAK (AMTRAK HAS NO SERVICES CONNECTED WITH THE HOTEL OR CAR RENTAL) AND HAD TO FIND A TAXI TO GET TO BUDGET AUTO AT THE AIRPORT. I GUESS I HAD EXPECTED THE HOTEL AND RENTAL CAR TO COME TOGETHER AS ADVERTISED, FOOLISH ME. I WILL PLAN MY TRIPS MORE CAREFULLY IN THE FUTURE. THE PIX YOU SHOW OF THE HOTEL IS VERY MISLEADING. I THOUGHT IT TO BE IN A VERY ACCESABLE LOCATION.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. Didn't spend much time ther other than sleeping. It was conveniently located. Rooms were relatively clean. Didn't like the pillows. Way to big. hard on neck and shoulders. It did offer hot breakfast but did nt look appetizing at all. Kids ate a bit. Coffee was good.

The hot breakfast was extra good -- better than the 3-star hotel we had just stayed in. Eggs, hash browns, bisquits/gravy, etc. The room was ok (I would have said pretty good, but there was a dead bug on the floor, which made it just ok), but the neighborhood is pretty rough. Arriving late at night with a young child was scary. It was very close to both freeways, though.

They worked great with us when our plane came in late and even though we had already missed our original check-in time they reinstated our stay and were ready for us when we arrived tired and frustrated. They honored our desire to not have anyone enter our room during our stay, and the manager spoke with us while we were there and promised to look into a fix for the problem with the water temp in the shower (was too hot and wouldn't adjust down without us first turning the water all the way to cold). Wish I had the time to try the pool/Jacuzzi and work out room.

The architecture, artwork, and Spanish design of this hotel is awe-inspiring for anyone who loves beauty; we could have been in Europe. Our room was immaculate and gorgeous as well, with special touches. We had a dinner upon arrival that was both delicious and healthy (sometimes hard to find) in the smaller restaurant. Swimming in the pool and soaking in the hot tub under the stars, after a long drive, was a perfect, romantic ending to a great day. I could not believe the quality of this place for the very reasonable price, and will definitely return on trips to the southwest!

I made reservations for myself and my son and his wife. When my son tried to check in, the hotel had no record of his reservation even though I had paid in advance and had a print-out sheet for him. When he tried to call me the next morning, the desk told him that I had checked out even though I had not.

Love this hotel!

We came into Albuquerque for a getaway weekend and stayed at the Sheraton. The reason we chose the Sheraton over any other hotel was because they allow animals for no extra charge. The rooms are very clean with plush carpeting and very very comfortable beds. The staff has always been friendly and very helpful. The ONLY complaint I have is that the pool isn't heated. I guess it's really not a big deal since it's hot in NM most of the year and normally it's a comfortable temperature. We decided to go for a quick swim the morning we were checking out and the water was freezing. I'm sure if we had swam during the day or later in the afternoon/evening, we wouldn't have had any problems.

Great Stop between Denver and Tucson

Was very impressed with this hotel. 14 hour road trip and wanted to break it in the middle, so ABQ was the stop. Quick check-in, friendly staff, amazing room, comfortable bed, fun ambience, great location. Only recommendation I would make would be having a fridge in the room (maybe you can request one?) for food brought on the road/leftovers. I will definitely stay here again on trips home!

A hotel well located

  • Nadine
  • Sep 7, 2009
The hotel is well located, near the most activities. They had a pool and a spa that was correct. If you want training, you can go to the finest center across the hotel, I heard that it's perfect. We asked for a room near the pool but we didn't have. Also, the view from the room was really bad but since we just go there to sleep, it's not really a problem.

The Radisson Hotel Albuquerque was comfortable and clean enough. The restaurant, though sparsley populated, served decent breakfasts. The arrangement with the Mid-Town Health Club may be the best deal for someone who likes a workout...an amazing facility with everything one needs and more at no extra charge for guests. However, there were constant glitches with the front desk... room keys that failed and needed replacement daily. Very frustrating.

Nice hotel

  • Jun 26, 2011
My wife joined me in Albuquerque after I attended a two day seminar in another hotel. I moved to this downtown location because the other hotel was taken over for the weekend by another convention. Downtown has more to offer, though a lot of attractions require some driving. The hotel staff at the Hyatt Regency were very nice, though seemingly constantly occupied by something on their computers. The room was clean and spacious, the fitness facility and pool quite nice as well. The hotel restaurant, Forque, serves a delicious breakfast, and the dinner menu looked good though we didn't eat there. The hotel lounge staff were friendly as well. We booked a room package that included breakfast - it was a very good deal. Parking was also included with the room, though we did have to pay for internet access. I'd stay here again, and recommend the hotel.

Staybridge Weekend

  • Just Me
  • Jun 29, 2011
We were 6 adults visiting Alb. for our uncles 90th birthday. Since it was a weekend rush visit we didn't want to spend too much for the hotel. I must say I was very pleased with the room-large with a kitchen, couch, and a very comfortable bed! It was a very hot weekend the air conditioning was very important and it really worked well. The continental breakfast was good too with fresh fruit and good coffee. I would definitely stay there again. Note: If renting a car in Albuquerque-don't rent at the airport. There is a 40% tax on the car-unless I was cheated which is possible-watch out fore Hertz!

Checking in was quick. We had assistance with our many bags. Front desk managers were able to guide us to local restaurants that were good and family friendly. We had coffee every morning and stayed for breakfast two of the mornings. Breakfast had a variety of food and beverages; something for everyone. The weather was cold when we were there and we really enjoyed the fireplace in the main lobby to warm up at prior to heading back to our room. The business center computers were helpful in finding the operating times of attractions, reviewing our pictures that we took, and we even needed the photo copier.

Went and stayed here for a high school reunion that was at the hotel. The service was amazing but the room could have been better. We switched rooms and that was really easy, but there was not all the amenities that I wished were available. The catered food for the reunion was some of the best catered food we had ever had. The restaurant that we went to in the morning was also quite good but the buffet was a little lacking. Overall, we were the most pleased with the service and the catered food at the actual reunion.

The beds were very comfortable and the desk clerk was very helpful in telling us how to get to various place. The food at the restaurant was good but the service was VERY slow.

Great Room

We rented a room to get away and let the kids swim. The hotel took our requests seriously unlike other hotels and got us a room close to the pool area. Very nice pool but they need to have someone moping up the tile floor more often. Slipped several times going to the bathroom and the elevator. Room was very clean and spacious. We were upgraded to a room with a sitting area and pull out sofa. Breakfast was nice. It was a continental with rotating hot item. We were there when they had biscuits and gravy, cheese omelets, and, ham steak. Very filling! Since we were there to swim the FD let us have a late check out to enjoy the morning. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.
