Thrill-packed piers make Wildwood Crest a haven for fun

Whether you're looking for a party or trying to plan a fun family vacation, Wildwood Crest is sure to fulfill expectations. Wildwood Crest is located in the southeast region of New Jersey, right on the Atlantic Ocean. This small town on the New Jersey shores may not have a large population, but it is far from quiet. Brimming with boardwalks, amusement parks, bars and restaurants, Wildwood Crest is a must for fun and excitement while traveling through the Garden State.

Morey's Piers

Morey's Piers consist of three fun-filled piers within Wildwood Crest. Each pier has an assortment of rides, special events and even water parks nearby. The unique locations offer different features so that visitors can choose the one that best suits their tastes.

The piers

Mariner's Pier is the first of the three piers in the area, and it offers a more traditional amusement park feel. Mariner's pier has a giant swing and rollercoaster that reaches heights of 120-feet. This park is great for families, those that are young and in love, or couples having a weekend getaway. If you're in the mood for a thrill, Mariner's Pier has its own haunted ghost ship, the Ignis Fatuus. Hold the love of your life tight while going through this ship filled with its ghostly crewmembers. After a romantic evening on this pier, you can return in the morning for a romantic breakfast in the sky atop the Giant Ferris Wheel.

Surfside Pier has been around since 1969, and it offers guests a seaside carnival filled with bright colors, flashing lights, carnival games and an assortment of rides. This family-oriented pier can entertain people of all ages. There are coasters for the thrill-seekers, and more reserved rides for the young ones. Surfside Pier even has a fiberglass slide that still only costs 25 cents to ride! A trip to Surfside Pier wouldn't be complete without a visit to the legendary Joe's Fish Co. This restaurant serves some of the freshest seafood in the area, and also serves its own signature margaritas.

If you're a fan of rollercoasters and other rides that reach top speeds to thrill and excite, then Adventure Pier is just the place for you. This pier is home of The Great White, a classic wooden rollercoaster that features a 105-foot drop and is perfect for those who love vintage-style coasters. The Skyscraper takes guests on a 70 mile per hour ride that travels in a full 160-foot vertical loop. If you've ever wondered what it'd be like to be a cannon ball, then you'll love the Springshot, which launches you straight up in the air at speeds of 75 miles per hour, while you're seated in its spherical cage. Don't worry about ever forgetting this hair-raising experience, because you can purchase a DVD that captures every second of the action.

Where to stay

Due to the small size of this city, it is easy to find Wildwood Crest hotels within close proximity of all the fun and excitement. Hotels can run anywhere from $125 per night for the lower-end motels to upwards of $450 per night for a 4 star hotel with all of the amenities expected in a deluxe accommodation.

Best time to visit

Being located in the northeast part of the country, Wildwood Crest can get quite chilly during the winter months. The best time of year to visit this seaside city is typically between the months of May and September. The wintertime can not only be cold, but this area has been known to see its fair share of snow. During the summer months, highs reach about 70 to 85 degrees and can be a little humid, but with the ocean and water parks nearby, you won't have to worry about getting too hot.
