Well, actually, it is a good half hour hike, but on a beautiful fall day, with the crew rowing along the lake, the one and a half mile walk along the towpath from the hotel to Alexander Road is nothing short of miraculous. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to lake Carnegie, along a very quiet side road at Scudder's Mill.
Rooms were excellent value, with comfortable beds and a large, functional desk.

The room was very clean, spacious, and had many perks that made the stay very enjoyable. There was a very large sofa in the living area and the TV easily swivels to face wherever you need it to. The staff was also very polite.
Only drawback is the in-room movies were a bit pricey running $14/movie. They do, however, have various input ports for the TV to allow for DVD players, etc.
Overall, the experience exceeded the expectations given the price and was really a great value.

The so-called Forrestal Village is a few shops and a lot of empty storefronts. I would not stay there again because of the location. The hotel was fine.

There was no closet space. We were in the area for a formal wedding and the only hanging bar was a low one. My wife's evening gown was was left dragging on the floor as was her raincoat. There was just enough vertical space for a man's sportcoat. In the winter, even his topcoat would have been crumpled on the rug. Very strange construction. Family reported similar closets in their rooms too.

Spent the weekend there before the Cornell/Princeton football game. Wonderful light, beautiful decor in a wooded setting on the Forrestal Campus of Princeton. Via Orbitz, our breakfast was included with the meal ... saved us over $100 because the breakfast buffet was expensive, but very good. We had mutliple teams with us, football, soccer, hockey, and crew ... all well behaved Ivy Leaguers. The next time we visit our son, we will stay there again. Excellent service and amenities.
