Boyfriend and I had a romantic getaway and got upgraded from a regular room to a suite with a gorgeous view. On request, they changed our checkout time from noon to 1pm so we had a little extra time. The only thing I could complain about is that at this time of year, a lot of the restaurants in Harrah's were closed, so we had to forage elsewhere. Overall, excellent room, unbeatable deal, a great experience all in all.

  • Jun 7, 2012
When we first pulled up the hotel looked nothing like the website, it was more like 10 miles away from the boardwalk instead of 2.9 miles like the website stated. There was no internet access, no drink machines, the refridgerator did not cool well, the pool was filled in with dirt, and the rooms were very out dated. The staff was very unfriendly, the manager allowed his young son to drive around the parking lot like it was a race track and almost hit our SUV in the parking spot. The cleaning staff was informed the rooms which we had did not need to be cleaned that morning and after we went to the boardwalk the cleaning staff went on in our rooms anyway.

Had to wait in an airport like snaky line for 40 minutes to check in. At times there was only one agent handling hotel guests. can not believe the hotel could not have predicted the need for additional staff to cover the check in timeframe.

This was my first time visiting Atlantic City and i had an amazing time.I am looking forward on going back again soon. The only different thing that i would do is stay at a different hotel. The room walls were so thin that i cold hear the next door neighbors parting , singing and doing other private things that i did not wanted to hear. It was very uncomfortable to me. What i did enjoy was their bar i believe is called "wild west" .. they literally have drinks specials all day and they are pretty good also good music.

BE WARNED: This motel's convenient location and low price makes it not only convenient to you but also to anyone looking for a private location to carry out any number of illegal drug negotiations or take part in other profoundly--shall we say--unbiblical activities. With luck, they will be in the room next to you. Last week, on a night where only three rooms were occupied in the whole motel (by three separate parties), our nightmare began when the clerk ensured that the rooms were adjacent to each other (which always irritates me). I decided not to complain about this however because the language barrier between myself and the clerk had nearly made it impossible to make the original transaction, and I was too tired to go back in to make this finer point. The room was small as expected but made extra dark because the wall mounted lights were broken off and dangling from their sockets. By removing the lampshades from the two inoperable lamps and placing them on top of the shade of the one working lamp, it was possible to mute the light enough not to burn your eyes from the 150 watt bulb brought in presumably to compensate for the lack of light elsewhere in the room. The occupants of the room next door made their presence felt immediately with a welcoming expletive rich barrage of violent obscenities accompanied by the sound of what I took to be a human skull being slammed against one of the walls. So we stepped out and walked over to the conveniently close casinos, as we had intended to do, hoping that our neighbors by the time we got back would either have settled their differences, passed out in a drug and alcohol-induced group coma, or been hauled away in a combination of police cars and body bags. No such luck. Several hours having passed and now being after midnight, they were still going at it. As long as our heater had been blasting on "high" and our TV was blaring it was possible for moments at a time to imagine we weren't in a fleabag dirt-hole motel in the slimy rear-crack of Atlantic City, but when the TV was turned off and the heat was lowered for sleeping, it became impossible to forget. A woman had arrived and the noise from the room next door had escalated into a series of plaster-cracking thuds on the shared wall accompanied by a colorful verbal exchange involving the words "Payback" "word for female dog" and, most notably, "Kill". At around 3:30AM (when the arrival bullets through the wall seemed a real possibility), I returned to the office and complained to the 16 year old desk clerk who had no idea what to do. He called the room in question and the occupants stopped beating one another's heads against the wall long enough to answer the phone and say everything was "cool". I suggested that he call 911 but judging by the sound of the constant sirens screaming past at high speed all night, the nightly call from the Rodeway would be a low priority. Angry, I checked us out before 4AM having only spent less than three hours in our room. No refund, no meaningful apology. We took refuge in the Denny's in Absecon—the town we should have stayed at in the first place—and waited out the sunrise. $45—one dollar per minute of sleep in this awful dump is not a good value now matter how cheap or tempting it may seem. Take your chances if you like but please promise me that you will NEVER take children to this place.

People shouldn't 't stay here expecting a 5 star hotel. If you're looking for that, go pay the 200 or 300+ dollars for a room at one the casinos. It's close to several casinos, save for Harrah's and the Borgota, I had no issues with the cleanliness - it was fine. Really nothing wrong with it, it's just not going to be what you would get if you stayed at a casino.

You get what you pay for. And for what it cost for the one night, all and all, it was pretty good. It was still a little more than I would've liked to pay for an establishment of it's calibre, but it was over the weekend, and close to some decent casino's. I'd recommend it to a friend on a budget. Besides, you only really sleep there. However, the continental breakfast that was included left a LOT to be desired.

this was the worst hotel ever. The beds where hard as rocks. The room was clean but had a funny odder to it. And when I took a shower at night the water wouldn't get warm not even the slightest. In the morning it was fine.

Not a great place to stay

  • Anonymous
  • Aug 17, 2011
The hotel is convenient to Atlantic City casinos, but has something to be desired. We asked for a non-smoking room and we could definitely tell that people had been smoking in there. The room was drab. The towels were dingy and very thin, the tub had rust spots on it, the tv didn't work right, etc. Not a place we would ever stay again. I'd pay the difference and stay at one of the casinos in the future.

You get what you pay for

  • NYCam
  • Sep 10, 2012
This was probably the cheapest hotel I could find in such short notice, and there is a reason why: you get what you pay for. The rooms are regularly equipped...but with outdated amenities. The TV is straight from the 90s, but not in a retro way. They either have had that thing for at least a decade, or they bought it at a garage sale. The rooms itself weren't half bad, big comfortable beds and a decent sized bathroom and tub...except the bathroom was very dirty (looking). I've seen college dorm bathrooms cleaner than that. Grout was dirty, paint was chipping, airvent looked like it would crumble at any moment. Windows didn't seem that safe either, one of my rooms had a cracked window even.

Night out at Atlantic CIty

  • GoLakers
  • Dec 6, 2012
I went for one night in Atlantic City. Overall, there is nothing spectacular about the hotel, but that it is decent place to stay for a good price and near the boardwalk. I would say this hotel is probably more for the family or for "calmer" guests. The rooms are decent sized, there is a kitchen, the heater was a little loud like the other reviews mentioned but bearable, and there is a balcony. Considering the price I paid for the room, I would say it was a good deal although I only stayed in the room to sleep. It is a little away from the other hotels and boardwalk (5/10 min drive depending on where you want to go)

I really enjoyed my room. I felt that that while the hotel was not in the midst of the main strip, the view from my room window more than made up for it. I didn't appreciate the $7.99 a day parking fees when other places were cheaper. I wished I could have stayed longer.

Great weekend getaway!

  • Ally RN
  • Oct 25, 2012
Went here for the first time with a few people. the restaurants were good and nightlife was great! we went to Cuba Libre our first night and everything was great, good crown good drinks and great music. Sat we went outside the hotel to party. The first night we went to HQ at the Revel hotel, that was the worst experience ever...overrated and cost us 70 to get in per couple and then had to walk up 6 flights of stairs in heels, not very safe and very very overcrowded. Left there went to The Pool at Harrahs which was a very good experience and atmosphere. Would def recommend Tropicana hotel and go back anytime!

This was our first trip to Atlantic City. The Tropicana was amazing. We arrived Saturday at noon. Check-in was fast and simple. Room was adequate - nothing special. The rest of the hotel and casino was 4+ star quality! Highly recommend Carmines for dinner. Tropicana is located on the boardwalk but quite a healthy walk to the other casinos. But I'm not sure there's any reason you need to leave this huge entertainment center.

The Atlantic while located down far on the boardwalk proved to be a worthy stay. Had tickets to a show at Taj Mahal. There rooms were 460.00 for one night. Atlantic was less than half the price, not bad considering we were just there for one night to sleep and shower. Hair dryers are aincient wall things that if you have long hair take your own. Carpets and furniture could use a cleaning or upgrade, otherwise it was a good bang for the buck. Staff was friendly. Check in a little slow as they only had one person behind desk at 5:00 on a saturday. Would stay there again. WiFi should be an amenitie. You are behind the times on that.

great clean room in good location for us. we were looking for nice place to stay the night near Tropicana casino on the weekend. there were many choices but very expensive. this was $110 a night which is OK compare to others. The only problem was with breakfast. The sign says that it is available `till 10:30 AM. However it was gone before 9:30 AM and we had to leave hungry. But otherwise this place is good to stay.

  • Jun 26, 2012
Parked in 1 lot and was lucky enough to get an end space in the lot across the street, where my room was... Across the street. Decent looking room. But it was clean. Happy to see that. Nice guys at front desk. And nice housekeepers. 15 minute walk to Badder Field for Heavy Metall concert. Not near the big casinos but food, bank and boardwalk adjacent. Good security cameras. No major issues.

We wanted a low-price motel near the boardwalk, and we achieved that goal. We were able to check-in quickly and make it to our concert in plenty of time. We were local to the attractions we wanted to see, had free parking, the bed was comfortable, the tv and air conditioning worked, and the bathroom was clean and the shower worked great. That was all we could ask for and would stay there again.
