Raleigh was named for Sir Walter
Raleigh, the famed English soldier, adventurer, and poet. It is the capital of
North Carolina and home to North Carolina State University, two historically
black universities, Shaw and Saint Augustine, and two women’s’ colleges, Peace
and Meredith. Raleigh offers several
museums which are free of cost, including the North Carolina Museum of Art, the
NC Museum of History, and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Pullen Park has an
excellent aquatic center and carousel for tourists with families.
Raleigh is also home to the North
Carolina State Fair, one of the largest fairs of its kind in America. This ten-day
long event draws over 100,000 to the State Fairgrounds to sample North Carolina
produce, attend concerts, and ride carnival rides. Visitors new to the American
South should be sure to order sweet tea. The sugary drink, along with Sundrop
and Cheerwine, has long been considered a native beverage, and shouldn’t be
missed while in Raleigh.

From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the perfectly manicured landscape around the hotel. The lobby was very clean and organized and it looked very inviting. All of the front desk personnel were very helpful in our accommodations and needs and even went an extra mile in addressing our questions about the area. The room was nice too. With WIFI access, microwave, refrigerator and hair dryer, they anticipated our needs. I would have to say my favorite thing in the hotel would have to be the comfort of the plush bed………I slept very well!

It is in a great location there are plenty of resterants, shopping plaza's and highways. other then that i would return if i had too...

Although the room, pool and rest of the hotel turned out to be what we expected (very nice and comfortable) the staff made the difference for us. Even the cleaning crew made time to stop and chat, with at least a curtious smile. One thing to work on - add hard boiled eggs to the continental breakfast and this trip would be complete. We had to run to Denny's for a anythng more than a quick bite with our coffee.

Nothing too bad, but not great.

- Feb 21, 2012
The room was clean enough, however right away we noticed that the room was missing the remote to the TV as well as the iron. The fridge had a beverage from the last guest that had spilled and not been cleaned up. The bed wasn't too bad, but I could feel the springs in the mattress.
After calling the front desk about the remote and iron, they quickly brought both items to the room.
Overall, not bad, but not great.

Had a great getaway weekend. This property has a fantastic location with scores of nearby restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Just blocks from museums and an easy walk to the concert hall and arts center.
This is a typical downtown motel with average amenities. We enjoyed the free internet and free garage parking with easy access to the elevators. If you are not expecting luxury, you'll be happy.

I have stayed here 2 times with no complaints. It's a pretty new hotel & the rooms are nice and clean. Great bed and great pillows. The hotel staff is always attentive. The parking lot is nice and well lit at night. The area around is quiet and safe. The breakfast always smells wonderful, but with a refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave in the room, I always eat in my room.
I like having a small safe in the room as well. Housekeeping always does a good job, but never pesters me to get in my room to clean.
I love a good stay at a luxury hotel, but when I'm in Raleigh, need to be near NC State Univ., and won't be spending a lot of time in my room, this hotel fits me just right.

We came to town for a funeral and weren't planning on spending a lot of time in the room. Some good things about the hotel. Not difficult to find and in a decent area. Relatively close to a Golden Corral. WiFi was strong in our room, but download speed was slow. There were plenty of channels on the TV, but a guide channel would be helpful so that you know what is coming on. Multiple places were available to deliver food and menus were provided in the lobby. Not so good. The breakfast, while included in the price of the room, was extremely minimal. No meat was available. There were few guests, but they put us in a room on the back side of the hotel.

Great value. [...] Clean enough....hallways still smelled like cigarettes even when asked for non smoking. small pool outside great for the summer...exercise machines suck...all it is is four treadmills...thats your exercise room...lol...good thing i wasn't planning on working out...didn't see the staff much but they were ok...not super friendly but pleasant enough. and got things done. Not much of a complimentary breakfast ..just a couple of bagels and bananas and coffee and juice till about 10 and then they put it all away...crazy. beds were comfy...tv's kinda old but do the trick. room and hotel was nicely decorated though..that was one of the main reasons over the other cheap places...showers soothing...small restroom with an old thin sliding door. but does the trick as well. good iron and ironing board and hair dryers available. about 3.1 miles from the club scene..yet not on the main strip but right next to it....all in all worth the money.

Didn't spend a whole lot of time in room. Basically only to sleep. Furniture and bedspreads could be replaced. For the price it was ok. Have stayed in the area and the other hotel was nicer for a few dollars more.

Not so good business trip.

Body hurts now
- Mar 17, 2012
Well, the room was clean and neat. The shower was amazing, I will replace all the shower heads in my home with the type they had in the room. The bath towels and washcloths were big, soft and very absorbable. The staff was friendly, BUT, let me tell you this, the bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on in my entire life. I'm not kidding you, I felt as if I slept on a pile of rocks the whole two nights I was there. My entire body was sore when I woke up. That's not good if you have to sit in a meeting the whole day. I have two more meetings in Raleigh this month and next month. I WILL NOT STAY AT THE BEST WESTERN EVER AGAIN. If you can't get a good nights sleep in the bed your in, your whole day will be MISSERABLE. AS I SAID, I WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN.

Hotel Raleigh for Les Misz

- Feb 19, 2012
Hotel staff is great, room immaculate, comfortable and everything as it should be. Parking is an issue, though it is ample, well lit, clean and covered. better signs directing to the street to enter the parking garage would be helpful. Walking distance to the theatre is GREAT.
Only real complaint is the wait time at the bar after the play. Other tables were served long before our order was taken. Waiter did acknowledge the wait.

NCSU Visit
-
Lakota Music Dad
- Apr 8, 2012
Our family booked 2 rooms as we traveled to Raleigh during our spring break in order for my son and his friend to visit NC State. Our initial room placement was not together, but upon requesting adjoining rooms, the staff personnel was quite accommodating. They also was quick to provide local details regarding NCSU, explicit directions and suggestions for local dining establishments. The rooms were large and the beds were comfy; only the pillows were rated average, based on my tough motel standards. The free breakfast passed my son's evaluation, making it a nice start to a very busy day ahead. My only mark on this motel is its location-distance from NC State's main campus, and the difficulty turning left out of the parking lot. However, the location is an A++ for those attending NCSU's football games during the fall. It's in very close proximity to the stadium.

Quite place with friendly and helpful staff. Quite near and very well connected to NC state university by bus as well as a short quick drive for folks who are at Raleigh for anything to do there. No restaurants close by though the in-house one is fine. Watch out, the restaurant and bar are closed on sunday evenings... so stock up on the drinks and order pizzas if you want to step out. Overall a good clean and comfortable place to stay.

Attended the 90th birtday celebration of a family member in the Raleigh area. The Holiday Inn was a short drive to several locations where events were taking place. It is directly across the street from Crabtree Mall, a major shopping venue, near the expressway, and a quick 10-12 minute trip from the Raleigh Airport. The hotel was tidy, and the room I stayed in was clean and quiet. The only difficulity, (even with my GPS) was finding the main entrance to the hotel, due to shrubs blocking the view.
I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a clean hotel, with a 3 to 4 day max stay in mind.

[...] This old and rather bad area of Raleigh is not exactly a place that makes you feel really safe, but the description did say "constructed in 2009" on the[...] website. This is a huge lie. This property may have been under some renovation in 2009 but it is not even close to a new property, likely more than 10 years old. Carpets in the hallways are dirty...if I couldn't vacuum any better than that, I should not get paid for doing so. Some of the furniture in the room was dirty, rooms are small. This is truly a case where a cheaper booking gives you what you paid for....a CHEAP experience, not a VALUE experience. I won't stay here again.
