This Days Inn had easy access to the highway, shopping, restaurants, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. This was not a luxurious place to stay, but it was clean, quiet, and everything worked as it should. The bathroom fixtures were sparkling, though the rug was a little worn. There was a decent selection of tv channels, as well as a refrigerator and microwave at no extra charge! Those really came in handy and are a big plus whenever I'm traveling. The king size bed was firm, comfortable, and came with five pillows - however the sheets and blanket seemed thin and a little cheap. I will definitely stay there again - though I may bring my own bedding. It's an excellent value for the price.

RoomsThe Carolina Inn captures Southern charm with local photographs and antique furniture produced in the heart of North Carolina. Designed by architect Arthur C. Nash, who developed a number of buildings on site at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the hotel mixes early American and English regency styles via tasteful floral prints, brushed nickel lamps and handsome wood furniture. Green travelers will appreciate the low-flow toilets, sustainable fabrics and mattresses and other eco-friendly amenities. The hotel also honors tradition with afternoon tea, a celebration made all the more formal by heirloom china, crystal and silver settings. For cocktails, guests relax in the bar, which is warm and inviting thanks to a fireplace and leather chairs. Very Nice!

  • AveryM
  • Feb 2, 2012
This was a very nice place to stay. The staff were completely outstanding in every way and the room was very, very comfortable. The only thing I could say that might have been nicer were the headboards, and some of the decor seemed a little on the well-worn side. This did not impact in any way the comfort of the beds, which again were very, very comfortable. You may want to book a reservation for the hotel restaurant if you are planning on dining there, though, they seem to fill up very quickly. (There are other restaurants nearby, though.) The breakfast buffet was only OK, but it was convenient.

Clean, inviting, good service

I received a good price for the club floor so stayed there. The club lounge was open 24 hours, but food service was usually about 15 to 30 minutes late. If you have an early flight, don't expect breakfast on time. Also, it would be nice to have newspapers in the lounge rather than having to go down to first floor. But it was a quiet floor, the room was great and all the staff very helpful and good-natured. The fitness room is lacking. It needs a weight machine.

Pros: The hotel is very nice inside, good location (close to UNC campus!), lots of parking, quiet area. The room was spacious, comfortable bed and pillows, big tv, big bathroom, free wifi, etc. Tons of after-hours snacks downstairs the hotel, a microwave, frozen dinners, drinks (even beer). Cons: The room itself wasn't awfully quiet and walls were a little too thin, but it never got ridiculous or to the point where I couldn't sleep. WiFi was very slow, though free.
