Meet Me in St Louie

Just a couple of things that really needed improved, they were understaffed at the front desk the wait time was way too long. The parking was $18 a day which would have been OK, BUT no in & out privileges! You need to be able to take your car in & out of the garage for that price. The only problem with the room was when we shut the door the shower curtain fell into the tub! But when I reported it when we left the room, when we returned it was fixed "good service" And when did they stop putting mini fridges in the room, I think that is more of a necessity than a blow-dryer that everyone already packs anyway! The food at the restaurant was good and the view was GREAT!

Great location for the baseball and football games and downtown! Only a few problems: The bathroom was small, our toilet was leaking even after maintenance came and "fixed" it. The shower was dirty. Overall, ok.

Nice hotel. The only problem I had is that part of the hotel has not been remodeled and updated. They put us in one of the rooms that had not been but I called the front desk and they moved us. All of the pics are of the newly updated rooms.

Great Hotel for Blues Hockey Fans

  • ebisho1
  • Nov 27, 2011
My wife and I went to the Blues home game against the Calgary Flames on 11/25 and we stayed at this hotel. We had a very nice room with King size bed and we were just up the street 5 minutes away from Scottrade Center. Our package included drink tickets for up to three free happy hour drinks and a hot buffet breakfast the next morning. Even better was that the hotel bar, Syberg's, runs a shuttle to and from the Blues game for only $2 each way per person. Lots of fun people on bus and very convenient. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. Unfortunately Union Station is no longer a great shopping area so don't waste your time there.

Not in the heart of down town but about a mile from anything you want to do downtown (busch stadium, arch, edward jones dome). About 5 minutes from budweiser plant. Very nice staff and well maintained rooms. Hot breakfast and cold beer for happy hour. Checked out and left my game 7 wold'series souveniers.. Housekeeping staff went in and found it and put it behind the desk for me to come back for. Will stay again when I go back to st louis.

Great hotel, but has hidden expenses

  • artimake
  • Nov 27, 2011
Very large, exquisite hotel. Stayed in a room with one king bed and a nice big window overlooking downtown St. Louis. The mini fridge was great to have, and the bed was comfortable and had a nice down comforter and soft pillows. The bathroom had a large tub with the curved shower curtain rod, giving you extra space, but the shower head was so high up on the wall that I couldn't reach it without standing on the side of the tub (I'm 5'1). My husband had to come in and adjust it for me and it was really lose for some reason. I couldn't point the shower head in the direction I wanted because it kept falling downward. Not sure if it was just our room or if all the rooms are like that. Also, the layout of the bathroom puts the sink behind the door, which is awkward. You have to open the door and then close it to get to the sink. Then there are the hidden charges. The room comes with a bottle of water, but it has a $3 tag on it. You also have to pay for wi-fi in the room. They charge you $14/day to park your car in the garage, which is the only place to park and I didn't know about the parking fee until we checked-in. They do not offer complimentary breakfast, but they do have a restaurant in the hotel and a Starbucks, which means more money spent. I found the Starbucks to be a bit lacking for such a nice hotel. The coffee was typical Starbucks, but they barely had any pastries/cakes/sandwiches at all. Overall, great hotel if you don't mind spending the money. This was a special treat for my husband and I, not our typical hotel stays. We didn't feel safe walking around after dark, so be aware of the location. Even during the day we had bums trying to ask us for money and sketchy-looking people were wandering aimlessly on the streets.

Locating the hotel, check-in, and parking was easy! One of the staff members walked me across washington street to the towers where my room was located. I enjoyed the Whirlpool except for Saturday night it was closed, I was in real need of the whirlpool due to a problem with my back! The front desk staff and the bar staff in the Tower very good, very people oriented! This was my second time staying in this hotel in the past 5 or 6 years, I would definitely stay again! Missing, complimentary breakfast and internet access for Silver Elite members, unless I am misinformed! Anyway, it kept me from doing work on my getaway weekend of football and fun! Thank you!

This club has been around since 1903. It is classic -- cigar shop and smoking area, card room, billiard room, vintage lounge adjacent to lobby, 2 or three restaurants and a bar, full size pool, character, character, character. We were in St. Louis for a conference at the America's Center and this is were some of us stayed. It is 0.4 miles from the conference center and the tunnel entrance to Lumiere Place Casino is at the end of the parking lot -- oh, yea, there is self parking.

Very nice lobby and location. Room was clean and updated. Staff was helpful offering suggestions. Didn't like that our room had a view out the window of a hallway and the elevators. There is a narrow open courtyard for several floors that our room looked over, but unless we looked down, all we saw was the hallway and elevators across the narrow opening. Staff made great suggestions for dining and sights

Great value and great location

  • PJPH
  • Jan 8, 2012
We got a huge suite - with two bedrooms and two complete baths, as well as a sitting room and full kitchen - for about $60 per night (including tax) because the hotel manager decided that we looked tired and upgraded us to a new room. A couple of issues - two of the lights in the suite did not work, and there is no restaurant, only room service, which is pretty expensive. But the beds, towels, furnishings, views, wake-up calls, and all other amenities were great. It's about three blocks from the Arch, and there are good restaurants within easy walking distance.

Friendly staff was very friendly and the accomodations more than adequate. The kids loved the food bar for evening and breakfast meals, and of course the pool. Everything located just a few steps from our door. Parking was easy and checkin was a breeze. We will definitely use this hotel again.

The staff was polite and very helpful. Location is right next to the big stuff so you can walk if you want to. The rooms had AC so it helped a lot during the hot summer day. but the sink in the room was dripping and made the floor wet and some other minor maintenance issues in the room.

The Hilton Downtown is a beautiful old structure. The rooms are nicely decorated, updated, and spotless. The food is quite good and the bar is a great convenience. The staff was friendly on this visit, but could improve by being a bit more helpful. Overall, it's a great deal. And, the downtown location cannot be beat.

Good value

  • Nov 14, 2011
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and felt like I knew what I was paying for. Above average amenities: nice gym and jacuzzi, free wi-fi (a little slow, but hey, it's free), complimentary water in the room. The location was 0.5miles from the America's convention center, which took me five to ten minutes to walk to and the neighborhood at night was not too sketchy. Cleanliness I dock a little because of a sewer odor coming from the bathroom drains. The room was comfortable and a little dark because it was a "building view" but I didn't mind because the jetlag made me sleepy mid-afternoon so I could catch a nap. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. I especially liked a hostess in the restaurant who went out of her way to get me the an extra large cup every morning for the complementary Kona coffee. Five stars for the staff!

The hotel is in the perfect spot for anything happening at the dome. Like most downtown hotels there is no free parking, but there is a parking garage just across the street, which has a level just for the hotel with an on-duty guard. The rooms are amazing, very spacious and great decor. The staff is very helpful and polite. The breakfast is basically a buffet with an omelet station. We will be staying at this hotel on our next trip downtown.

We had each stayed here previously, several years ago, and the glamour has declined with the move toward the riverfront. It is still a very nice hotel, with an excellent, courteous staff. Everyone we dealt with (housekeeping, front desk, bell staff, doormen & valet staff) were charming, friendly & helpful. It's a good bargain, probably $150 cheaper than the Drury or any other hotel further east. The only down side was the self-park lot; at $14/night, it is located to the rear of the hotel, with access to the front desk a very long walk with luggage. We could have unloaded at the entrance, but it was still a flight up to the desk. Definitely not for those whose ambulatory abilities are challenged. Street parking was available, but only because it was New Years; otherwise, there is 'no parking' on any of the nearby streets from 3AM to 6AM. New Years activities nearby were plentiful; we watched animatronic Dick Clark in the hotel lobby, got drinks and chatted with the other survivors.

our experience was very pleasant. The hotel staff was exceptional. They recommended Pappy's barbaque, which I fully endorse and we were very close to the Arch, which was a must for our getaway, since my wife had never been. The valet's were very accomodating. The room was very large and spacious, but lacked a few amenities...no refrigerator is really all. We also went to see the Blues/Hawks hockey game which was only 2 blocks away. Very convenient.

We selected this hotel after reading some reviews and considering the price and availability for rooms with a view of the Arch. My husband lived in St. Louis in his youth and also thought the secured parking they advertised sounded like a plus. Our stay here was overall excellent! Easy to find from I-70, easy check-in with luggage carts/service, and very easy access to secured parking from the lobby and the hotel rooms. The pool area was large and clean, and included a hot tub and a small kids play area and pool toys. Just the thing after 10+ hours in the car with two kids! Our room was spacious, included a fridge and had an excellent view of the Arch and St. Louis Riverfront. I was most impressed with the included hot/cold breakfast. There was ample and various seating area provided, and the options included fresh juices and coffee, cereals, do-it-yourself Belgian waffles, hot oatmeal, eggs, sausage/bacon, pastries, fresh fruit and yogurts. The security was as promised as well - card-key access only, and our vehicle was safe and sound in the parking ramp. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent experience

Stayed overnight to attend a concert at Busch Stadium. The hotel was well within walking distance of the stadium and in close proximity to the MetroLink. The room was on the first floor of the hotel located immediately adjacent to a hotel and parking garage entrance. I believe the hotel was sold out for the night and while there was a lot of activity in and out of the garage and hotel, there was absolutely no noise or commotion. Also, did not hear any hallway activity or noise from adjacent rooms. The walls must be well insulated! Engagement with the hotel staff was limited, but positive. Security was good (guard present in the hotel at night). The shower was great (not always the case in may hotels). Found the food and drink offerings to be very generous. Definitely would stay in this hotel again.

IT definitely met our needs and was what we expected. The hotel is not big and short-staffed in the evenings, but they do work as hard as possible to accomodate you within their limitations. As in any hotel, some staff members are nicer/more pleasant to deal with.

Amazing staff ...

  • OwenAKASarge
  • Jan 31, 2011
I stayed here for 6 weeks for work. The check-in process was very easy and the staff was amazing, especially "Keta" and "Bekah". I was settled into my temporary "home" within 30 minutes. My suite had a full service kitchen, including: a full sized fridge, stove, sink, garbage disposal, and microwave. My internet connection was wired but was reliable. There is plenty of free parking and you are right beside a major freeway so it's easy to get on the road quickly and you are right downtown. My bathroom door didn't close fully but I mentioned it to the front desk and it was fixed right then. I had requested extra towels and clothes hangers one morning and they were in my room waiting for me when I got "home" from work that day. The business center on the main floor had 2 PC's and 1 of them was out most of the time I was there and there was no USB access to the printer so I had a bit of a problem doing my expense reports but I was able to manage. The free breakfast is good but I'd suggest getting down there early because it goes quick. The stove in my room could have been cleaned better as one day I used it to cook a pizza and there was something that smoked at the bottom of the stove. Also, the frying pan was warped which made it hard to cook with. The TV had very limited channels Overall I would rate this as a 4.5 because it was comfortable, in a good location, and the staff was great.
