We walked down main street in Mackinaw City and window shopped. The hotel was just a few blocks away. We took a color tour of upper Michigan and this was a great place to stay the night. The price was great and the breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We could hear people thumping around above us and talking in the hallway. The double beds were not very comfy, but OK. We were afraid the elevator was going to break down. It rattled and made a lot of noise. We took the stairs. It was still a pretty good place to stay. Our next trip to Mackinaw City we will check this hotel's prices first. We would stay here again.

The hotel was a good location from downtown. The staff was incredibly helpful and very friendly. We had our dog travelling with us. When we booked the hotel they didnt know that we were bringing our dog but the quickly accomadated us. They were always eager to help and offered great suggestions on what to do around town. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

great weekend in mackinaw

check in was easy. the room was dated looked like the pictures had been there since 1984 but every thing worked and I found the bed to be comfortable. if your going to the island this hotel is great becuse the arnald and star boat docks are right next door. the one thing that bothered me is that I payed for a lake view but becuse we were on the first floor I had trouble seeing the lake through the full arnald line parking lot. over all I would stay here agen but i would try to get a second floor room.

The first night I was assigned room 173. Early in the evening I realized that when someone in the room above flushed the toilet or run water in the sink, the drains in my room would make a burbling noise. I went and talked to the from desk about this and they apologized for the problem, but couldn't change my room that night because they were full. The next day they did move me to a new room, and it was much better overall. Unless they correct the plumbing you should avoid first floor rooms with rooms above.
Breakfast was OK, but the waffle iron is sticky, so be prepared.

Beautiful place!! Comfortable room!! Great breakfast!! Wi-fi didn't work in room 317, but the view was fantastic!!! I had excellent wi-fi service in lobby and drank their free coffee. I would rate a 5 star if wi-fi worked.

When we arrived, we were given an awful location near the laundry. I went and asked to upgrade, we were given a lake front view that was astounding, and much much larger. Total cost of upgrade was $35+ well worth the upgrade. About 17 a night as we stayed 2 nights. Lake front view changed everything. Mackinaw City has lots of decent shops and restaurants. I would do this again!

The hotel had a good breakfast with a large breakfast room. The hotel room was clean and we had no complaints about it. It is at the end of the "main hotel strip" but that is still only less than a mile away from the shopping. I have two notables from our trip (both pizza related). 1. Nonna Lisa's wood fire baked pizza and Papa Zo's are the exact same place. 2. The city closes down Huron ave during their Annual Big Truck Parade which means no pizza delivery....

We stay in Mackinaw City annually when we make a trip to Mackinaw Island. This motel is centrally located for restaurants and the ferry dock. The breakfast is adequate, the rooms clean.

The hotel was easy to find and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was in a great location - within walking distance of the ferries and shopping. We were happy with the continental breakfast, and there was always an attendant there to make sure everything was full and helping guests. The room was clean and pleasant. I would definitely stay there again.

They had lots of stuf for kids and had no problems having dog their. My only problems were the breckfast area in morning not enough room to move around not enough tables a problem I have at every hotel 4 chairs to sit at and 20 people. Also pool area and hot tub out dated and game room dirty.

With the exception of desk staff that didn't know much information about where to eat that was not touristy and weren't very helpful in figuring out how to get early tickets for the ferry, this was a great value with a clean room, great view, and cheap.

We were here for an overnight while traveling to Canada. The hotel is older,but in good shape. Located within walking distance to the Island ferries. The hotel breakfast was actually across the street at another hotel.

Super 8 Mackinaw City/Beachfront Area

Location was perfect..the beach was the best part of this hotel. Our stay came with complimentary indoor water park passes (unlimited all week) at three different hotels with indoor water parks. This came in handy when it was raining a few days. The internet was unacceptable. Everyone had to go into the breakfast room just to use it. The front desk staff was friendly, housekeeping was very unfriendly.

The rooms were very clean and the facility in general seemed to be well maintained. I traveled with my boyfriend and we enjoyed our stay there. The pool and spa area was very clean and we were the only ones there on a Sunday evening in October. The location is good and is within walking distance of all the shops/restaurants/parks in Mackinaw City. With the exception of the hotel desk staff, this trip was very pleasant. Neither of the persons at the desk welcomed us to the hotel nor seemed to care that we had chosen their hotel to stay at. A more personable staff would have been great, but did not ruin our stay. I would recommend this hotel for the price that we paid and the time of year.

Nice rooms, very good rates (off-season ended up being $49 a night for 1 queen bed including water park and continental breakfast). Walls were a bit thin and could hear some sound coming from neighbors, but other than that, no complaints.

The hotel is located in a convenient spot to walk to everything and easy to get to from the expressway. The staff was remarkably friendly from the front desk clerk to the man that was stocking the breakfast bar. If you want luxury this is not you place but if you want a comofortable, clean, friendly, well priced place in Mackinaw City this is.

Perfect experience except for a child in room above us running back and forth across room at 5:30 in the morning. Talked to manager and he offered to let us move to another room. The shopping center and downtown are about a block away and Sheplers ferry is about 2 to 3 blocks away. Plenty of food nearby. Great experience

The hotel had few rooms with a single bed, which was what we were looking for (we were on our honeymoon). The "hot" breakfast did not have many hot options (just waffles) and overall was a disappointment. It closed early for a vacation spot. Michigan is great in the fall.

Stayed 9/30-10/2/11. The hot tub was broken and the pool water was freezing cold, it isn't heated. Decent continental breakfast but ends rather early at 9:30am which meant we couldn't sleep in like we wanted to. Steven at the front desk is excellent and was very nice and accommodating with printing out directions to different cities and attractions in the UP that we wanted to go to. Room & bathroom were very clean.

Decent hotel with a nice package (if orbitz actually comes through)

Orbitz never sent our reservation over so the wonderful woman working there had to call them up and make them fax it over. Apparently it happens all the time. She was so helpful and nice however, so it made the inconvenience acceptable. The package was nice, though nothing was waiting for us (champaign etc) because Orbitz never sent it over. The room was alright for the pice. I got the feeling if we had just walked in however the room would have been cheaper, but with the gift card and champaign I wasn't complaining. All in all it was a alright hotel for a decent price with a nice perk package.

The Hotel is a good value, Hot Breakfast which can save a family a bunch of money, I would stay there again.I have a feeling Katherine isnt happy anywhere. I got a good value considering that whole area will burn a hole in your pocket.

We stayed three nights and were very satisfied. We had a 5yr old and 16yr old grandchildren come with us and they had a great time. The beach, breakfast and water park were great . Breakfast everything but bacon, sausage waffels, cereal, eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy and pastries.
Location is not on top of shops which we liked, it was about 1/2 mile away. Rooms clean except for a little more care needed to be taken with the bathroom.
Had a great time going to the island, shopping, beach, waterpark and relaxing.

Our stay was short, we thought it was going to be closer to the Ferry's and downtown area. Other than that, it was worth the money.

Okay, it may not be the prettiest motel I have been in. It is older, and could use some renovation. That being said the view from our lakeside balcony was fabulous..the sunrises stunning. We got lucky and got a fireworks show that we watched from the balcony, fabulous. Management was very nice and the rooms were clean and tidy. When the family in the room above us got roudy the managment was right there to handle it. Breakfast was what you would expect, cereal, muffins toast, and waffles. For the money, you can't beat it in Mackinac City! We are going back again next year!

Wornderful place to stay and in a good location but the breakfast ends at 9:30 so you have to get up earlier than planned.

After spending a long weekend in Mackinaw City with my wife the year before - we brought our two kids with us for a family vacation. The Hotel room was flawless. The room gave us direct and almost private access to the Beach. Travel suggestion for those with kids -> bring water shoes/aqua socks, most beaches are rocky (all beaches on the island are). Tip #2 if you drive a bit to the West there are sandy beaches but you have to search for them. My kids were young and after a three day stay we ran out of things to do with them. Any more and we'd have been pressing our luck. Overall we had a great time, and the Hotel was part of that.

After some of the negative reviews we were a little worried about the hotel, however upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean, our room was ready when we got there, and we had no problems at check-in. The hotel staff was not overly friendly, but they were pleasant and answered any questions we had.
The location of the hotel was very nice, very close to downtown, within walking distance.
Overall, we would stay at the Hamilton Inn Select again if we were going to Mackinaw City. Our experience was very nice.

The hotel is located directly across the street from two Mackinac Island Ferry Docks, Star Line and Arnold Line, and has over 1600 feet of beach access. The hotel accommodations include deluxe guestrooms, some with lake view, and we also have private chalets with one and two bedrooms. The hotel features an indoor heated pool, whirlpool, playground area, and picnic ground. The Mackinac Trading Company and the Crossings are located one block away with their many shops, restaurants, theatres, free nightly live laser show, miniature golf course, and many other attractions! Pet accommodation: 15.00/night per pet (limit: 2 pets per room).

When we checked in the hotel charged the highest price,twice the confirm price from Orbitz,I had to agreed to their bill,They did reduce their price to confirm price from Orbitz,when we checked out.

The price was reasonable for a night's stay. Don't expect much from this place, just a decent place to get some sleep. Wish the air conditioning wasn't making lots of noise. Overall it is alright
