Ann Arbor is a picturesque city surrounding the University

difficult as 100,000-odd people pour in for university football games.
Ann Arbor, dubbed “tree town” is lined with trees. In the
early 20th century, after having leveled the forest that once occupied the
area, the city instituted an aggressive tree-planting program that's since
borne fruit. Downtown is a solid block of restaurants and art galleries. The
university hosts cultural events, and venues such as the Michigan Theater host
first-run independent films and high-profile music groups. Several good
independent bookshops are located here and the Ann Arbor Art Fair draws over
half a million visitors each summer.

The staff were professional and friendly. The breakfast was unusually good for a hotel free breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean; wi-fi worked well. Would have liked to have a refrigerator in the room.

The staff was friendly, the room was cleaned promptly each day. The gym had only 3 pieces of equipment and 2 were broken! The pool and whirlpool were nice.

Great place to stay in Ann Arbor

The room was clean and the hotel staff extremely friendly. They offered evening snacks with beverages, which was a treat. The laundry facility was a big help and very inexpensive. There were many stores nearby and the expressway was easily accessed. We travelled into the heart of Ann Arbor within 15 minutes.

The Clarion Hotel is situated approximately 10 minutes (by car!!!) from the center of Ann Arbor. They serve a small breakfast which is OK for the United States. The rooms are pretty clean but not very charming. Actually, the hotel is not really a hotel but rather a motel.

A very nice place. Just note that if you are going to University of Michigan's *central* campus, this is about a 15-or-20-min. drive away, factoring in stoplights, etc. It is adjacent to the *North* campus of the school. A very nice neighborhood, suburban, and I can recommend the Northside Bakery (down the road on Plymouth) for delicious breakfast treats!

I enjoyed the staff immensely. The front desk was very accommodating from directions to replacing lost keys. The room has a microwave and large refrigerator. The room is spacious with a window that opens! I need fresh air and enjoy rooms that actually have windows that open. There is a game area, pool, spa and large parking lot. I particularly enjoyed how quiet the room was and slept well because of the quiet location.

We checked in fairly late at night so there were no other options except the one room. [...] Not too noisy in the hallway but our neighbor was noisy. The hotel was nice and refurbished and our room was very nice. Indoor/outdoor pool, fitness room, but dining area was under construction. I was disappointed because I read the reviews and one said the hotel was connected to Applebees by a enclosed walkway, There is no Applebees close to the hoteland that is why I chose Baymont Inn. For a place to sleep it is a bargain. It was quiet and in better condition than the dump next door.

Our bed the first night was terrible, so they upgraded us to a bigger, newer room with a kingsize bed and a better hvac system. Breakfast was abundant and very good--not just a typical "continental breakfast." Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great experience. I was in the gatehouse for breakfast, and the carpet was a little wet - they had a sign out but I slipped because I wasn't paying attention. The front desk attendant immediately got a fan to dry the carpet quicker.

Very convenient location. Just off the freeway but no freeway noise. 20 mins from DTW airport. 5-7 mins from Ann Arbor downtown/U-M. Hotel was clean. Full hot breakfast was good. Nice swimming pool and hot tub. Printer didnt have paper. Computer has 20 min limit per session forced by the system. Nice clean linen and cool pillows. Flat screen TV with MSNBC and HBO!!

My wife and I made our 1st Trip to Ann Arbor to see a University of Michigan Football Game. We have never been to Ann Arbor, so to find the hotel only about 1.5 miles to the stadium was great! Our hotel was close to the mall and a restaurant. The hotel wasn't spectacular, but it was all that we needed for a 2 day trip. Hotel room was clean, however, no cleaning service or towel replacement(fortunately, we wasn't in the room very much). The hotel did have a serviceable kitchen with refigerator which you don't normally find. No meals, continental breakfast, etc. But, for the location with proximity to the stadium and downtown Ann Arbor, we would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is in a great location, room was clean, breakfast was great, and staff was friendly! Their were only two things we had a problem with, the pool (which we were REALLY looking forward to was cold, and our room had a big light right outside the window, which kept me up part of the night! (curtains did not close)

We chose this hotel because it was one of the only ones located close to the football stadium. Our main objectives were to go out downtown and to go to the football game. This hotel was fine for that because it was close to the game and easy access from the interstate. It was a little shady however... It has not been renovated in a long time. The "continental breakfast" was bread and a toaster. The staff was friendly and for the most part the room was clean, it's just hard to feel that way when you know the blankets and furniture has been there for years and years and years. Maybe worth the extra drive and money to stay a little ways down the road at the chain hotels.

hmmm not the nicest place I have stayed but not the worst either. Be prepared that if you are staying here for NASCAR you will have a 40 minute drive. The room was clean and the hotel staff friendly however, when they say they offer coffee be prepared to go to the lobby to get it, no "in-room" coffee machines. There is a slight odor in the hallways (not sure what it was) but the hotel was quiet. The TV could only get 5 channels so if you are going to unwind after a long day...dont plan on watching TV. I would recommend only after giving a disclaimer of the hotel!

Check in was fast and easy. The basic building is aging and needs work/updates.
Rooms are fairly clean.
Difficult to regulate the room temperature…It was either too hot or too cold.

Traveling thru Michigan on our way to visit our daughter and we just needed a room for the night close to the interstate. The room was clean and check in was fast. However, breakfast was not included as we were told that we booked through [...]so not included. Applebees next door and Big Boy attached which were fine. Would stay again.

After a long trip from NJ to Ann Arbor with our kids, we really had a low threshold for a place to rest our heads. Unfortunately, when we pulled up we were greeted by a crew of unsavory characters in the small unwelcoming prisonlike lobby.The clerk seemed not to care a bit about the conditions of the hotel or the safety of a family with children. On our way to the room, we were accosted by the overpowering smell of smoke, alchohol and urine throughout the establishment. Upon entering our allegedly nonsmoking room, we were hit with an even stronger smell of smoke and other unsavory aromas. We soon discovered an ashtray (albeit clean, to give this establishment what little it is due) and an open window apparently intended to air out the room.The room was dingy, and poorly equipped. We immediately returned to the front desk clerk, who seemed to not be surprised or to care at all about our shock over how poorly this establishment is run. He certainly didn't disabuse us of the notion that this place was not a safe place for a family to stay. Honestly, it seemed to be less a hotel and more of a flophouse inhabited by folks who couldnt pass a credit check for an apartment. We didnt see any business travelers at all there, either. There were other unsavory sorts in the parking lot as well as we escaped to safer accomodations elsewhere in the area.[...] the worst I've had in 40 years of travelling, including all the cruddy motels and pensiones I've put up with while travelling off the beaten path in the US and Europe. Stay away. You're better off tilting your seat back and sleeping in your car.

Kinda run down. Anyone staying here long term is in for a real disappointment. False labeling of this. Seems like a $50.00 room for which i paid well more than that.

Modern decor, clean, nice.

I spent one night at the Courtyard Ann Arbor while visiting the University of Michigan campus. I had a rental car, so driving the 2 or so miles to the campus was very convenient. The decor in the lobby was simple and modern, with a large LCD screen showing the current weather and news headlines as you walk in. The room was comfortable and had free wi-fi. The only thing I would have liked would have been a complimentary continental breakfast, but they have great free coffee in the lobby and a nice little bistro where you can grab something to eat (although you have to pay). The staff was very friendly, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice restaurant, lobby, pool area...average room.

It is very clear from the moment that you walk into the hotel that they put a lot of time and thought into their renovations. The lobby area is modern but warm, and the restaurant was very nice. The pool area is actually quite breathtaking with several spiral staircases that link patios attached to each interior room and end up in the pool and game room area. I didn't have a chance to check out the bakery or bar, but the restaurant was cozy and nice. The staff was very kind and helpful as well.
The room itself wasn't anything spectacular. It is easy to see they spent their money on the lobby, restaurant, fitness, and pool areas and gave the rooms a "lipstick" job. The air conditioning unit in the room was old and quite loud. I eventually turned it off. The room was clean, but looked a bit "worn out," with a little bit of evidence of moisture on the wall that went out to the pool area. I was expecting a bit more after seeing the lobby. Although the room was average, the bed was VERY comfortable and the linens were very nice.
The room service prices were very affordable, and the pizza they made to order was very good.
Overall, this looks like an old "mom and pop" inn that is really taking valiant strides towards becoming a VERY nice hotel. I am sure the next stage of renovations will begin to address the room quality. The rooms may not have the perfect pristine quality of a chain hotel, but the unique amenities and interesting design of the hotel make it a good value.

The hotel was very nice. I wish i could have spent more time at the property. I loved the adult swim hours. Getting in late and still able to use the pool was wonderful.

Red Roof was located very close to the University
We were on the second floor and stayed during the first snow storm of the season so the wind hit hard against the door and window which did make the room chilly. The heating was hard to control because of that. The staff was nice, the room VERY clean The price was great and included breakfast.

My first visit to Ann Arbor and for business and I chose the Hawthorn Suites on price over Holiday Inn and other local hotels, and because the room amenitites (kitchenette and free wifi) suited well.
The free breakfasts and dinners were good although note that the dinners only run Mon-Thur.
Made good use of the free hotel shuttle and have to thank the nice man who got up to take me to the office at 7:30am.
Also my flight didn't land until 7:45pm and I had no problems with the late check in.
Only critism is that they could offer a little more in the hotel shop although there is a very good superstore on the same complex.
