It compared to other Howard Johnsons we've been to in price, but not in quality. The room was small, cooled by a small wall-unit air conditioner that was noisy, and the bathroom was tiny. It reminded me very much of a cheap motel, except I would have paid a lot less for what was honestly the same quality. It wasn't a bad experience, and the front desk was nice, but I wouldn't pay that much for the location or room quality again.

The Hotel was in a great location for me to visit potential apartments. We are relocating to the area. I was dissatisfied with the room because it smelled of urine and the air conditioner didn't keep room cool. Had an incident with someone stealing my do not disturb sign. Had to constantly request for more towels and staff in office didn't have access to housekeeping. It was a quiet area but not enough parking space to area since parking had to be shared with another hotel on the same property.

Graduation for the University of Maryland. Price was very high because of the graduation. This hotel is not woth this type of room charge but it is convenient to the university.

This is a convenient place to stay overnight if you just want to have rest. The building has not been renovated probably in 25 years, but it is clean. You get what you pay for.

right time, right place for us

We needed this location, a reasonable price and a clean pleasant place for our holiday stay visiting family at Riderwood Village. Hampton Inn delivered more than adequately on all counts.
It isn't perfect because: the 2 bed rooms are doubles not queens, there is a pool but no hot tub, and the warm cookies were always gone by the time we came back to the hotel for the evening.
On the plus side, breakfast was served early and was also there even later than promised. The breakfast area was clean and restocked when needed. Parking is free and access into and out of the hotel is relatively easy.

this was my second trip in college park and in the hotel as promised. I had times to visit the University of Maryland and the area around. I really happy about my trip and I definitely will recommend the hotel to my friends.

I like the security system, pass code protected. I did not have time to go around and visit special places, but I will come back and will spend more time. I appreciate the calmness of the hotel area although being located near a busy traffic road. I am suggested that the hotel room has refrigerator to limit the guest dependency on hotel staff and for a sense of kind of privacy.

Great location right off I-495 and Route 1 makes this hotel very convenient for travelers to the Capital area. Indoor pool and free parking are great benefits and the Route 1 corridor offers a number of dining options.

we were there overnight for my son to compete in a gymnastics meet at umd early on a saturday morning. breakfast buffet worked well to eat and run at around 7:00am
this was our second year at this venue and at this hotel as well

Stayed here for a rally over the weekend. The price was reasonable, and the location looked like it was close to a metro station. Shuttle service was indicated as available, but was told that it only ran in the afternoon on Sundays. The shuttle was used on Saturday to get to the metro station without a problem. Decided to walk back from the metro station to the hotel, which wasn't too bad (a bit less than 3 miles). Food within walking distance of the hotel was pretty limited.
Overall, a reasonable experience at a good price.

Comfortable bed. Not many channels on TV, but not a problem since I was out all the time. Continental breakfast had waffles! However, the kitchen had a bit of an ant issue.

We attended college function. Hotel was adequate and friendly, very conveniently located. Clean rooms and facilities. Very functional for visitng the University of Maryland. i would return.
