Family Weekend at UMass Amherst

We had quite a bit of trouble finding a hotel with openings. We are not familiar with the area at all so we weren't quite sure if we were close enough to the school. As it turned out, we were only about 25 minutes away, very reasonable drive and the amenities and overall experience was perfect. The kids had a ball in the pool which was great and the next day the breakfast, which was included in the price was fantastic. We will definately be back.

We arrived late and were given a room at the rear of the hotel. The adjoining guests were very loud and fighting in the middle of the night! We heard many small children crying down the hall as well. It appeared these rooms were let out on a long-term basis to families. We were not comfortable!

The room itself was old, but it had what we needed. The bed was comfortable. The room had a fridge, microwave and a coffee pot which I liked, but the room was not clean. the bathroom smelled like urine. The non-slip surface on the tub was peeling and cracked. There was hair all over the bathroom. The tub did not drain during a shower and there were gummy bears on the floor of the room. Unacceptable. We checked out early.

We have stayed in many hotels in and around the Marlboro area. This was our first time in Chicopee. We as a family were not impressed. We had some major glitches with signing in, they told me they didn't have my reservation. The front desk clerk only called the manager after I told her several times to do so. The front desk clerk was ready to send us on our way with a shrug and a "there is nothing I can do for you". After she finally called the manager, they found our reservation. We finally made it to our room. The room its self was fairly clean and the bathroom was clean. However we had a reservation for 3 and only had enough towels for 2. I was told the night we checked in they would send towels right up, but ended up having to call again in the morning because we never got our towels. The hairdryer did not work either. Housekeeping then knocked on our door asking if we were checking out... Our reservations said we were. Check out was at noon and this was around 10 a.m. I felt rushed. For us the room was just ok, but the customer service was non-existant.

This hotel if you can call it that is a DUMP! You don't want to undress to to sleep!
The big question is why doesn't the health Dept. Close it down?

The hotel is connected to a bowling alley. That's pretty sweet if you want to get a couple frames in. The people at the front desk were very friendly. Not much to this stay- there are beds, technicolor t.v, and a toilet. We needed a place to sleep, the Plantation INN gave us exactly what we were looking for.

Cheap is cheap

As all moderately-rated accommodations in the region were inexplicably booked this past weekend, I was forced to make a reservation at this Motel 6. It was all old Formica and cigarette burns; it had a decades-old television and literally zero free power outlets (I had to jimmy free the plug of a wall lamp to use its outlet, which was conveniently hidden by a built-in desk). There was no shampoo in the shower, just the standard tiny bar of cheap soap.
That said, it was a $60 room, and it was quiet.. I can't complain too much.

For the price, we were not expecting too much. The bathroom was not that clean, and there were cigarette burns in the sheets. The cost of the hotel made it worth it to stay there.
