Downtown Boston hotels
Staying at a hotel in Boston downtown is the easiest way to put all of Beantown’s attractions at your feet. Freedom Trail, Boston Common, Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, and the bustling waterfront -- all are easily accessible when you choose a hotel in Boston’s downtown district. In the center, find Downtown Crossing, with a mix of historic landmarks, shops and award-winning restaurants. To the east of Downtown Crossing resides Boston’s Financial District, headquarters for big business. The Financial District also boasts a variety of properties, from modestly priced accommodations to luxury Boston resorts.

Back Bay and Copley Square hotels
The Back Bay is another popular location for travelers looking for hotels in Boston. It offers a mix of galleries, restaurants, trendy shops and salons in Copley Square and along Newbury Street; cultural sites like the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church; and the riverfront Esplanade, which beckons walkers, joggers and skaters. This neighborhood also is home to many trusted hotel names, including Hilton, Westin and Marriott.

Logan Airport hotels
Logan Airport is just northeast of downtown Boston on the MBTA Blue line, almost halfway between Revere Beach and Government Center. Boston motels and hotels near Logan Airport are typically cheaper than in-town properties and make a convenient jumping-off point to popular Massachusetts destinations, like Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

The location is great. I had no complaints about the hotel. The only thing is that on Monday morning there was quite a bit of noise, which turned out to be because they were doing something with the wiring on our wing. When i checked-in i was given a free upgrade on my room which was nice :) Overall it was a comfortable and pleasant stay while attending a conference in the area.

Stay was only for one night and am very familiar with Boston area. The location of the hotel can get you anywhere by public transportation relatively quickly. Comparing the price to nearby hotels, you can't beat it. Was a bit disappointed with room temperature as we didn't seem to have control over it and the variety of vending options not to appealing.

Hotel was very close to 3 major subways. Very easy to get around. There was construction right across the street,on weekends area was quite. Room was always clean, had some problems with the bed to soft and and made noise. Pool was closed. No safe in the room, but you could get a safety deposit box down stairs. Would recommend and stay there again

The Taj is perfectly located for Boston Marathon weekend. Couple blocks from both the finish corral (not the finish line, but at the end of the chute where runners exit) and the bus pickup to get to the start. Across the street from Boston Commons, and close to all amenities. The hotel was clean, had free bottled water in the room. A nice workout facility, with water and healthy snacks. Race morning also offered complimentary coffee and healthy snacks. Wife willing, and qualifications pending, I would definitely return to the Taj for the next marathon.

The hotel is very nice, the room was beautiful and the staff at the front desk was extraordinary. The staff in the restaurant, not so much. The hostess was gracious and wonderful, the young lady that bussed the tables was very efficient and polite. The waitress was terrible. She left myself and another guest sitting around waiting on her to get ready to take care of us because she was busy showing off whatever was so wonderful on her cellphone. He and I compared notes to assure ourselves that we had actually sat down and were waiting to be helped. I motioned to the young lady that bussed the tables, she came immediately and I asked for the waitress. I received an irritated glance from the waitress and the young lady that bussed the tables was delegated to see what I wanted; the waitress never returned and I did not leave a tip. I did notice that a gentleman in a very nice suit arrived and everyone jumped to attention and began to immediately appreciate their job security. Overall, I will return to the hotel in the future but I think I'll have breakfast elsewhere.

  • Jul 11, 2011
Hotel was very close to the airport only about a 5-10 min drive. when i arrived at the hotel it had a very modern and spacious lobby. the room was very clean and comfortable with a great King size bed and a spacious bathroom. the hotel was walking distant from Harborside on the Charles river. The walk was very safe and leisurely only about 5min to a large varity of great resturants and night light. I had drinks on the roof top of the new Harborside Legal Seafood restuarant. the view was spectacular the rest was a buzz with lots of beautiful intresting people. i had a great dinner and finished the night at the bar at another great spot on the water. there was plenty to do for everyone.

We stayed one night at the Westin because we were in town for a concert at Bank of America Pavillion. The location was great, 5 minute walk to the venue. Parking at the hotel was a little ridiculous- 35 bucks to park it yourself and 45 for valet. There is no breakfast in the morning either. However, the room was very nice and it was awesome that the pool stayed open until midnight. The staff was super friendly. Overall a nice hotel but for the price it would have been better if parking was free and there was breakfast.

Stayed here while attending a conference at Hynes Convention Center. Location was nice- close to the convention center, the subway, shopping, and restaurants. The hotel itself was very chic. The staff were very attentive and there are many nice amenities such as coffee service in the morning and wine in the evening. The restaurant was quiet, but satisfying. The lounge was also a happening place. I was happy that I was able to check into my room at 7:00 in the morning, too. As for the room, it was cute. In other words, it was quite small, but big enough. It had one queen bed, a dresser, flat screen TV, small closet, and a small bathroom. The room was big enough for my 5' 2" frame, but may seem tight for someone big and/or tall or for a couple.

Truly across the street from Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall, just 2 quick blocks to the North End. About 2 blocks to Government Center T station. Modernized hotel. A little noisy from outside activity. Surprised at cost of roll-away and pricey wireless internet access ( about 10.00 per device per day) given the daily rates we paid. BUT can't beat the location.

Great location, overall great hotel

  • Beantown lover
  • Jan 4, 2012
Picked this hotel for an annual after Christmas 2 day vacation. Stayed at the Hilton Financial and Marriott Long Wharf previously. Choose the Bostonian for two reasons. 1: Location. Directly next to Quincy Market and very close walk, drive, taxi ride to everything downtown. Since most of our activities are around this area, it was a definite plus 2: Good reviews. Recommended by numerous friends Overall great hotel. Staff was nice and helpful when expected. It felt on the mid-upper scale of hotels. The room and bathroom were nice but nothing crazy to write home about. A few things I didn't like (granted I know it's not common depending on what hotel you are staying at). No ice machine on any floor and a mini fridge you can't use. Yeah, you can get ice from room service but once it never came and once it was super late. Just my own preference, I'd rather have a fridge to use and put my own beverages in than pay $8 for a beer I moved off a sensor. Overall a great hotel. Location is a big selling point for the Bostonian but for the price there are many other similar hotels within walking distance and would be compareable in price and ammenities if this one doesn't suit your needs. For the winter price of $140 a night, would stay here again.

  • May 22, 2012
The location is perfect! A block from the T, and able to walk to Copley, BackBay, South End, and the Commons. All kinds of bars and great restaurants in the area. The hotel is a little dated, but it's clean and comfortable. Wifi doesn't really work in the rooms so that could be improved, but you can still easily use the business center. Ultimately an AMAZING value for your cash.

You literally walk out the front door, turn right, and you're at Copley Square/Trinity Church, which--for anyone who knows Boston--is the primo spot to be for vacation in the city. You're two blocks from Newbury Street and three blocks from the Public Gardens. That said, the hotel is a little on the old/shabby side. We did not get one of the remodeled rooms, but it was a typical hotel room in an older hotel. Really, I barely noticed its age: comfy bed after a long day, phenomenal water pressure in the shower, and a dependable heating/air system more than made up for the lack of a flat-screen TV. We had a lovely view of the skyline, and we had everything we needed. The staff was always friendly. And for a room that's less than $200/night in this location, you're getting a deal. Plus, we got a coupon for parking, which is prorated at $23/day. We got in Saturday afternoon around 3PM and left before 8AM on Tuesday, and ended up paying $57 for parking--a steal in Boston! Note: The hotel is a bit hidden. The door itself is unmarked, and there's just a tiny sign on the corner of the building. The entrance is directly across from the parking garage.

My husband and I decided to spend a few days in Boston to see the sights. Chose the Kimpton because of location and value. We arrived at the Kimpton totally exhausted to find the staff warm, hospitable and the hotel totally comfortable. We grabbed a complimentary glass of wine and headed to our room which exceeded our expectations. Wonderful linens, comfortable mattress, cozy and perfect for our three night stay. All shifts of staff were extremely helpful and gave us suggestions on restaurants, local transportation and tourist sights. We would definitely stay there again.

The staff, front doorman to housekeeping make you feel so welcome. Even upon checkout, we were offered a bottle of water...a very nice gesture. There is valet parking and on-site self park, which be pricey. Consider carefully if you need a car - Boston roads are very confusing anyway. The location is a very short distance from Boston Commons and many theaters; a perfection location for both.

The room even with an upgrade was not very big. Having the shower close to the middle of the room is strange as well. I despise hotels that leave out a bottle of water then charge you $8 for it. Overall though the hotel experience was solid if unspectacular. Woodwards downstairs is an excellent place for lunch...the crab hash is excellent.

We were visiting Boston last weekend. It is a very nice city where you can enjoy simply walking through it and some streets have very charm. The location and service of the hotel is very good although there are rooms that are not renovated and they look a bit old.

Location was great but hotel didn't have a lot to offer. We reserved the queen room and the bed wasn't a queen; it was a double. We called the front desk to tell them they made a mistake and that they put us in the wrong room but they claimed it was a queens size bed. We measured the bed and it was NOT a queen. The queen room was very small but it was clean. The cost of the room was a lot for the very little they had to offer. We were not totally disappointed but we will look for other hotels the next time we go back to Boston.

Convenient for business travel

  • Threelevenrocker

Airport shuttle and proximity to downtown and nearby T stops makes this hotel a decent choice for business travel. It is located in a bit of a weird spot, being next to a major highway but also very close by to the south boston neighborhood and harbor, so driving there will take a bit of finesse, but if that is not an issue, walking there is a no brainer. Easy to spot from boston street, especially from the bridge.

An absolutely perfect location

  • Otter1043
  • Nov 23, 2011
I was visiting the city with my girlfriend who had never been to Boston. After booking the hotel she told me of the things that she wanted to see and all were an easy walk from the hotel. The room was on the smaller side but it was plenty big for the two of us. The staff was very pleasant and attentive and also offered to check our bags for the afternoon after check out so we could see some more of the city. We had no car so I can't speak to the parking situation. The subway line (blue) that runs from the airport will take you within a block of the hotel on weekdays and within two on weekends. It's only $2. I am more than willing to stay at this hotel again.

Visit to Boston

  • dwigs

Pro: I had to check into this hotel last minute since I came into Boston late for a party. Check-in was speedy and hassle free. The person at the front desk was nice and accommodating. The location of the party was within walking distance from the hotel, which was great. The room w/king bed was clean and very spacious, enough to bring 6-7 guests without it feeling crowded. Con: There was construction going on, which was very visible on some floors. And there were some noises coming from the construction, lending to it to be aesthetically displeasing. Overall: I enjoyed my stay. There is good value for this hotel.

My family had just returned from Germany and were plesantly suprise when we pulled up to the beautiful hotel . The staff was very nice and meet all our needs . I was disappointed that I had to pay $ 42. for valet parking while staying at the place , but was told I could "search around to find a free spot on the streets if I wanted to " , not too many options there . The room we stayed @ was clean & spacious with a very nice view , had coffee but had $ 4 .00 bottles of water on the counter, really, that nice of a hotel and you can't supply each guest a free bottle of water ? It's $4.00 for a case of 24 !

My friends and I stayed here last weekend and thought it was great! The hotel was very modern looking inside and out and was right across the street from the silver line. The rooms were very clean and cozy and enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It would have been more convenient if it was closer to downtown, but it was only a 7 dollar cabride as well as the T to south station was very close! All in all it was a great hotel and I would definitely stay there again!

Felt like living in someone's condo - nice living room area, full kitchen, and very comfortable bed. Solid and free wifi. Dresser and 2 closets. There was a big TV too. Staff was great. Check-in/out was very easy. Breakfast was bagels, oatmeal, english muffins, and yogurt. Only thing keeping it from 5-star: - very brief, minor noise sometimes in the night - some minor repairs (i.e. shower door didn't close all the way)
