The Westin had a great location and an even better view. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We decided on the River view was was not let down. Amazing view of new orleans. The only complaint was that the bathtub was not that big, (was looking for a garden tub). Also there wasnt a hottub in the pool area. The pool is heated and has an amazing view of the entire city on the 29th top floor though.
They are doing construction so we heard lots of noise around 8:30 am but I assume that wont last forever and we were already up so it didnt bother us. Overall, very clean and nice, would probably stay there again in the summer (b/c of the pool, but if winter, Id opt for a place with a hot tub).

This is a decent hotel with a great location. easy to walk to all places in the french quarter. We had a good time there and would come back to it. Few things - there is no elevator to the swimming pool/rooftop. you must go up a narrow staircase in order to get to there. I just don't see elderly folks making it up there safely.... You need to switch elevators once, on the 11th floor, to go to your room. This is slightly annoying but you get used to it after a while. In spite of the above I would still recommend this hotel.

The staff was very nice! The rooms are tiny and have very old furniture. The bathroom sink was way too small and reminded me of something you would find in an old cruise ship. Overall, it was okay but too expensive for what you get.

This hotel is perfectly located, if you want some peace and quiet while still being within a short walk of Bourbon Street. Beautiful southern mansion from the 1880's redone with nice creature comforts. The staff was exceptional and friendly. Very nice pool area and veranda. Comfortable rooms. Recommended!

Hotel was in a great location(4 blocks from Bourbon st) for the price. They weren't the friendliest, but for the price I didn't care. Expect to pay $25 a night for parking and $100 deposit on the room. They have dishes and silverware in the room. If you don't clean any used dishes then expect a minimum $25 charge as well.

This was a great value hotel. The rooms were clean and very large. I got a room for myself and one for my girlfriend and we were both surprised to find that they both had living rooms. The only complaint is that if you are planning to walk to the French quarter and especially the French market it provides exercise that may not be enjoyable for all.

The location of this hotel is really fantastic. It is located conveniently in the central business district, but is a short walk from pretty much everything you would want to do in New Orleans: the French Quarter, the Warehouse District, and superdome. It is also very close to the medical center, which made it ideal for my trip. It is an older hotel and is quite charming, but don't expect more modern amenities like a pool. They have wireless internet for a small cost, but because it is an old building, it can take some finesse to get a signal.

This was a great find. We visit New Orleans once or twice a year and stay a various places. If you want to avoid the French Quarter this is a good location for getting around. The rooms all recently redone. Nice bathrooms/showers though small. Refrigerator and microwave all new and clean. Strongly recommend just remember this is not a hotel so no daily maid service but replacement towels available at front desk. Courtyard very nice for relaxing.

At first we thought we were in a bad location for everything we wanted to see BUT then we figured out that the $3 a day trolly took us everwhere we want to be or see within 20 minutes . Uptown, garden district , river walk, French Qtrs it was easy to get to.
The staff were the most engaging and helpful I have ever experienced.

The hotel itself was very clean, very trendy and not too far from anything fun to do. This was probably the best shower I've had other than my own house. The things I would work on would be vending machines for bottled water or juice, soda's. You were limited to buying a 5 dollar bottle of water in the room itself. I wandered around and found it cheaper. Upon arriving, we were told they would give us a ride anywhere within 6 miles of the hotel. This was a great option but when we asked for a ride at 1pm, we were told it was being detailed. These would not stop me from coming back to the W, I had a great stay. The staff couldnt have been more helpful.

It's not the fanciest place but I was expecting less for the price I paid. It's perfectly located just a block away from Bourbon St so you can literally stumble home after a night out. We didn't have any issues with noise and our room was comfortable and clean. It's worth mentioning though that this hotel has NO elevator, so if you get stuck with a room on the 3rd, 4th (possibly 5th?) floor be prepared for a STEEP staircase walkup.

Canal St, in the French Quarter, is ideal for restaurants, shopping, etc. Decatur is a busy street but we heard no street noise in the room.

When we checked in we found the standard room we had reserved to be without any windows making it dark and stuffy. The desk clerk indicated no other rooms were available at the time but if we would go have lunch and come back in 2 hrs she would have another room available. The new room was very nice and well worth the $25 a day additional charge. The location in the French Quarter was close to everything without being too noisy, a plus for us. The staff was very nice and did their best to assure a pleasant stay.

I hadn't heard of this hotel, but the rates couldn't be beat. Pros: Only a few blocks from the Quarter, very courteous and friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, free wifi, incredibly fair price for location. Cons: Not exactly luxurious or lavish, room kind of small, no cable, a little noisy (due to guests mostly, neighborhood is fairly quiet spot at night). Really minor quibbles though; I just needed a place to stay while visiting friends, and the St. James suited my needs well.

A haven in the Vieux Carre...Super staff, lovely outdoor space, and great proximity to amusements and sites. This was the first time in several trips to NOLA that we stayed here...would return based on location and authentic setting.
Our only improvement would be upgraded bed linens and a bit more fabreeze....it was humid and the pet smell was a bit too obvious...

Pictures do no justice. My air conditioning system made noise one night and they came and fixed it promptly! Hospitality was great aside "one" valet gentleman. I would give this place a 95 if they had microwaves. So lets say 94! Thanks for the hospitality!

I like the location of this hotel, not right in the middle of all the activities but close enough to walk to all of them. I like where I stay to be quieter!
My only complaint about the room was the bed - one side was higher than the other.

This hotel was close enough but far enough away from the Quarter. I stayed by myself a few days extra after a work conference and I felt safe. I was close enough to the Quarter to see the tourist stuff, but far enough away to not dealing with the partying that occurs. It was nice to be close to the Riverwalk and the streetcars.

Great location but a little disappointed

The location is PRIME for an affordable stay within walking distance to the French Quarter. The room was comfy, the staff was very polite. However, there was renovations occurring throughout the hotel during our stay. The renovations werent troubling, except that they began at 7am. In the French Quarter, 7 am is when everyone falls asleep. It would've been much more polite to have them wait until checkout time before they start with the hammering and the jackhammer. Also the shower pressure was really weak.

had some problems

arrived and room was not ready at around 5:30 p.m. checked in and rested and planned to go across the street and gamble for a little while and then have a nice dinner in the area. Had a heart attack at around 7:20 in casino, taken to Tulane Med Center and was released against doctor's orders at 3:30 in the morning. Asked for late checkout so we could get some sleep before traveling to Houston. Front desk attendant would not approve the late check out so after a few hours sleep we had a harrowing drive on Sunday. Not the hotel's fault but kind of wrong not to allow us a few extra hours, hardly spent any time in room.

The room was great, location perfect I liked that the hotel is not connect to the casino directly, but our hotel room carpet had a large stain infront of the closet I reported it to let them know it was not us, but they said it would take some time to get the carpet cleaned, hopefully they can get it done for the next person so it won't look so bad, very thing else was clean and fresh. Staff very freindly.

We were not informed that the hotel was undergoing renovations. Also, as we have a small child, we booked a king size bed. When we arrived, there were no kings available. Furthermore, there was no room service. Wish we would have know these details before we booked.

This hotel is in the nice part of the French Quarter.
It's chic. The pool is more for lounging, too small to swim in. There is a bartender by the pool only Thurs- Sun. But other than that, the staff is hospitable and they remembered my name. And off course, the room was very clean.

Hotel needs some improvements. Elevator was out 3 of 4 days. Fortunately we were on second floor. Electric plug did not work in bath. Towels and sheets were "ratty".

When I first walked into the lobby, it smelled bad and it was hot in the lobby. The poor lady at the front desk had to use a FAN. The rooms, hallways, and restaurant were well cooled but the carpet was dirty and stained badly in the hallways and rooms. Room Service took all day to get to my room for cleaning and fresh towels. The flooring in my room was uneven like the floor was warped underneathed the carpet. The window sills needed cleaning and sprayed with insecticides. The location was perfect... right in the Quarters, very close to everything, very historic hotel, and the staff was great... they did their best considering the infrastructure and they were always positive and freindly. Like I said it's good for 1 person staying 1 or 2 nights.

The hotel was nice and clean. Friendly people. It did not have a jacuzzi however which was a request that we had made. It showed under activities. When we called on this we were told that there was 2 jacuzzi tubs. We spent an hour and a half on the phone with you. You were not customer service friendly in the hotel reservations and I would never book through them again. We were on our honeymoon and the jacuzz waa something we really wanted.

Search results to produce this hotel included "Free Parking", but once I arrived at the hotel I found that the only parking available was Valet. Once I got into the hotel, they upgraded my room to a suite, which was huge. It was a very nice experience, other than the wait required for the valet...

Nice place to stay in New Orleans

I was in New Orleans for a conference and could not afford staying at Marriott which was the conference's venue. But La Quinta was just two blocks away, more than twice cheaper than the discounted price at Marriott and almost as good for me. The room was big and comfortable, except for some noise from the mechanical room next to mine (next time will know to ask for a room not adjacent to such facilities). The price included a free continental breakfast and free wifi. The staff was not overly friendly but efficient. Will definitely stay there next time I am in the city. And the city is great!
