I always stay at the St. Peter House every time I go to NOLA, but I am practically a local. If you are from out of town and experiencing New Orleans for the first time, this place will not be for you.
It has a charm all its own. The staff is pretty aloof, but has always been helpful. The location is great! The rooms are not the nicest, but if you are truly enjoying New Orleans, you are never in the hotel anyway. If its your first visit, pick somewhere else cause you will hate it. But if you frequent New Orleans and are looking for a good value for your stay, you will love it.

Enjoyable vacation spot in an unique city

Hotel is in the heart of French Quarter in NO and conveniently located for enjoying the city, food site seeing. The only problem was that the hotel initially refused to honor the inclusion of breakfast in the paid room rate. We had to fight for it and they approved after contacting the travel agency. We had to show the proof that travel agency had given us that deal with inclusion of breakfast. Restaurant staff was very courteous and food quality was very good. They tried to give us the room right near the service elevator which we refused. The construction was supposed to be over but was still going on.

The hotel was under construction on some floors and it caused a large amount of noise. They moved us to another room, but it was on the floor right under the noise.

The front desk guy was rude because he said he couldnt find my reservation. He was like thats what happens when you book on the same day. I told him excuse me but I booked this 2 weeks ago. Then my room a/c didnt work. So I had to get another room. The lighting in this placed sucked. I understand that the building is very old but they can still do some updates. The remote to the tv had tape on the back of it. The only good thing about this hotel is that the location is awesome close to everything.

Great Place to stay In NOLA
-
Kleckel
- Feb 2, 2012
When we pulled up to the hotel, I was really excited to see the charm of Hotel St. Marie. It had oil lanterns and ferns that ran the length of the building. The entrance and lobby were beautiful as well. Absolutely great location!! It is close enough to walk anywhere in New Orleans, but still removed enough (one block over) from Bourbon Street to get some sleep and stay away from the chaos. Staff was knowledgable and friendly, greeted us every time they saw us and asked if we were enjoying our time. Rooms were fairly standard. We got the balcony which overlooked the beautiful patio and pool area. Showers were a bit tempermental with heat, but seemed to improve the longer we were there. Cleaning staff was prompt daily and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Hotel St. Marie to friends/family.

I can't say enough about the great location of this hotel. It puts you right in the action and in the heart of the French Quarter experience. We were in short walking distance to all the great sites of New Orleans. Very easy access to all major venues such as the Super Dome. Easy in, easy out. Good staff. The only negative I have is that our room was not set up with new towels, shampoo and other needs on the second day. However, I will stay at this location again.

Loved our trip to NOLA!

The hotel was great. It seems historical, yet modern. I was pleased with the fitness room. We visited in December. I wish that it had been warm enough to swim in the beautiful heated pool! I wish they had a hot tub! Location was perfect...about half a block from Bourbon Street. We walked everywhere! No need for a taxi. A lot is less than half a mile from hotel. Room was clean. Bed was TOO comfortable. The soft bed resulted in back pain...but we prefer firmer mattresses. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. I feel like it was a great value.

Another great stay at the JW. The room felt like a suite with cozy bedding that was so inviting after a long day at work. My TV stopped working and the concierge offered a certificate for my trouble. Also, if you're a light sleeper, do not get a room on the Canal Street side...I could hear the band on Bourbon Street well into the night.

This was our first trip to New Orleans, and honestly we weren't sure what to expect. We searched for a room with the best reviews in our budget and we were not let down. The staff is awesome! The location is perfect, super quiet and within walking distance to everything. The rooms were clean and large. The courtyards are gorgeous. The man staying next door said he has been to New Orleans more times than he can count, and said he would only stay in this hotel. I have to agree, we will stay here again!! The only let downs were breakfast was minimal and parking is $30 a night.

now if you want to just experience the french quarter this is a great hotel to set as your base of opperations. the lobby was amazing with a very good restraunt. i recently became health concious and was very impressed with their excersise room it was not only large but it had over a dozen treadmills and othe excersise machines. you are literally within walking distant of many great things from bourbon street to the casino canal street has it all. just keep in mind the homeless are pretty aggresive and dont give up easy and you wil get approached by shoe shine men performance artists and people trying to sell you their demo cd so be prepared to be on the defensive but if u wanna eat drink and be merry the marriot on canal street is where it's at.

We were in New Orleans for Christmas and the Marriott was wonderful. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was just what we needed. The shower water could have been a little warmer but overall we were impressed and delighted. I would gladly stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Often times photos and descriptions don't match up to reality. I was extremely pleased to find this hotel matched up perfectly to what I expected. The staff was very helpful with several requests I made. The coffee/breakfast was fine, certainly not extravegant, but they offered what they advertised. I was able to have a suite with a balcony, which worked out great with the weather and my smoking. I'll be staying here next year again.

Great place, poor organization
-
Tres
- Nov 8, 2011
The hotel is super, our suite was very comfortable but...
Our room was not ready until 6:00PM. Later the front desk gave a very drunk couple a key to our room in the middle of the night then called to ask I if I was a guest in to the hotel!
Once I told him my name, he said, "oh yes, there you are in the system, that is your room!"
Really? You give a drunk a key to my room in the middle of the night then call up to challenge why I am in MY room.
I could have forgiven this but the front desk clerk did not even offer an apology for giving out a key to my room; instead he called to challenge why I was in the room.
On the whole the staff was friendly but they could use some organizational training (and this was not an event weekend).

The hotel was a standard Ritz property. Great location close to Bourbon and French Quarter. Concirge and staff were very helpful. The only problem was with housekeeping- they kept forgetting to replace certain amenities.
All in all would recommend it.

I've stayed here before and all I can say is you cannot beat the location if you are wanting to do Bourbon Street and French Quarter. For those who complain about the noise that stay in this hotel, I suggest you take a room not on the Bourbon Street side. I've stayed in both sides and its really not bad on Bourbon side but I have seen some reviews where people complained about loud noises coming from Bourbon street late night. I have to laugh because why would you stay there if you are going to bed early!! Its New Orleans and Bourbon Street for goodness sakes:-)
If you are looking for a couple nights stay or just one night, I suggest this place. I am a traveling musician and have stayed all over the world. For the price and location, you cannot beat it!!!!

We were not informed that the hotel was undergoing renovations. Also, as we have a small child, we booked a king size bed. When we arrived, there were no kings available. Furthermore, there was no room service. Wish we would have know these details before we booked.

This hotel is in the nice part of the French Quarter.
It's chic. The pool is more for lounging, too small to swim in. There is a bartender by the pool only Thurs- Sun. But other than that, the staff is hospitable and they remembered my name. And off course, the room was very clean.
