Thought we would try after good experiences in other cities. Won't go back even at a heavy discount. Very old and smelly. Bathroom was very poor with mold. WiFi SUCKED. Come on this is basic stuff that needs to be right.

It was alright. Hotel is old and needs to be updated. the room was clean. microwave had been stolen or removed.
Overall, i would limit your time in the city of Monroe. Restaurants/businesses seemed to be run down, sometimes sketchy and customer service was of no concern to the locals.

My son and his family had a great time at this hotel. Grandkids wanted pancakes but strawberries made up for it. Beds were awesome and rooms were spacious. Lobby was great place to meet and visit with visitors.

The Super 8 in Monroe LA is located off I-20 at exit 118A. We are only 1 mile from Downtown Monroe.
Many nearby attractions surround the hotel such as Louisiana Purchase Garden and Zoo is two miles away. University of Louisiana at Monroe is two miles away, Louisiana Tech and Grambling State University are 30 miles away.
Super 8 in Monroe offers a outdoor pool, complimentary continental breakfast, free wireless high speed internet. Each room features a microwave and refrigerator.

Has obviously been spiffed up a bit recently, and the rooms are well equipped and decorated. However, it's still your basic cheap motel room, so set your expectations accordingly.

Was in town for a concert. Wasn't going to spend much time at the hotel, so I was just looking for something cheap. It was a decent room for the price. The parking lot is awful. Small and congested. You have to turn the refrigerator on yourself, which sucked. Other than that, it's not bad for the price. You get what you pay for.

Got in late after a hard drive from Dallas. Check in was easy and the room was cool and clean. Breakfast was fine for what they had and all the staff I ran into were courteous. I would recommend this hotel if you are in town for a night or 2 and need a clean, no frills place to lay your head.

Hotel was very nice. Breakfast was great. Swimming pool was closed for treatments was the only drawback and price was a little high. Other than those things overall experience was great.

Clean room, noisy neighbors

The room was very clean upon arrival and when we returned the second afternoon as well. BUT, our first night there after a long trip we were kept up from about 11PM til 2:30 AM by the room next to us filled with shouting and playing of young people. The hotel staff called us at 1AM and said they were sorry about the noise, but it didn't stop for almost 2 more hours. The beds were kinda old, but as far as the room went it was very neat. It was also right by the mall, so it made shopping convenient. Other than the noise the first night, it was a pleasant stay and a good price as well.

You must be at least 21 to check into the hotel. Indoor and outdoor pools will be closed until August 5, 2012.

i was there to attend an organizational meeting. the indoor pool was not available to guest. no form of complimentary breakfast was offered. the rooms were damp. room service was slow and lacking especially the cleaning service. wall/floor mounted heating and cooling equipment was noisy and ran continuously. card keys needed reprograming the second day. ice machines were few and inconvienent. the new name is Clarion and the web site was not available prior to arrival.

I was mainly down in louisiana to visit my wife and son. My inlaws didnt have enough space for me to stay so i ended finding a quiet, relaxing place for the right price. i did not know if single star hotels are not suppose to have a small refrigerator or a microwave in the rooms, but that was about all i thought was missing. This was my first trip booking online and going on a trip by myself and i enjoyed it.

Great hotel but misleading listing

The hotel overall was great. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and it was very nice.
However, the listings on this site and the Comfort Suites site both said that my room was supposed to have a jacuzzi in the room. When I arrived at the hotel it did not work, and I was told the plumbing had all been removed and the tubs were being taken out soon. This frankly was false advertising and I was not happy at all. Also, the management offered nothing at all to make up for their mistake.
I have no complaints besides that though.

Resort it's not!

I read a review that compared this hotel to a resort. It is not. It's an old Holiday Inn that is undergoing renovation. While I appreciate the renovations they are making and the room was decent, they are missing the basics. The furniture is huge in these large rooms, but there is no desk for working at. I hardly ever have to go to the front desk but on this trip I had to daily. No coffee two days, no soap one day, no coffee cups another. A decent place and nice stay but very expensive for the service received

Upon Arrival at the hotel we had to wait so the lady at the front desk could go floor to floor to see which rooms were ready. We arrived at 3:45 and check in is at 3:00. The next morning we were awoken at 8:00 am by someone in the room above up stopming around, it was very loud, they were rattling the pictures on our walls. Then at 10:00 housekeeping started beating on the door (we had the Do NOT disturd sign out) and after the second time we told them we did not need anything they rudely asked when we were leaving. Check out is not until 12:00 so we did not have to be out of the room until then.
