This hotel is perfect for people going to Navy graduation. They have an excellent breakfast and there is shopping with a Walmart, banks, resturants just next to them. Staff is really kind and willing to help you any time.

Navy basic training graduation

This is a very nice hotel. I had a suite with a full kitchen. Some of the rooms even have fireplaces. Very homey. The room was clean, breakfast was included and they even surprized me with a free light dinner Mon-Thursday. Very convientient to Naval Training Command with a cheap shuttle that worked a lot better than trying to park on base. I would stay there again.

The beds were VERY comfortable, the hotel staff friendly and helpful. We had a two bedroom suite and it was laid out very well and was well appointed; even had a gaslog fireplace. Very homey on our cold snowy evenings. The major stumbling block or let down for us was lack of wifi in our building (the hotel has three buildings and the other buildings have wifi but for some reason the one we were in did not) and the lack of ethernet ports in all rooms of the suite. The suite had only one ethernet port and we had two laptops going. Easy to get to the Naval Training Center for PIR.

We stayed here when my brother graduated from the Navy Traning Center. The location was perfect right across the street from Walmart, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's and much more! Only a 10 minute drive to the Navy Base and a 45 minute drive to downtown Chicago! Also the Metra is only 10 minutes away from the hotel and it will also take you to downtown Chicago. If we ever go back to Chicago I will definitaly stay in this hotel.

Disappointing hotel run by liars.

I read some pretty awful reviews about the Days Inn hotel in Waukegan, IL. Most people would rather write a bad review than a good one, so I decided to book anyway. I've stayed in budget hotels plenty of times and have seen that a hotel can still "do it right" even though it's low budget. This was not the case here. I must be fair and report that I booked two rooms, a king room for my wife and I, and a double room for my teenage brothers after we attended an outdoor music fest in Zion. The king room was fine, average, no complaints. However, there were multiple problems with the double room. When we arrived to our rooms around midnight, we noticed that the double room's door was open. That's a bit of a red flag. I noticed that the king room had a no-smoking placard on the door, but the double room did not. I requested and paid for two non-smoking rooms. So it appeared that management knew full well it wasn't what we asked for, but put us in it anyways. Keeping the door open was their futile attempt to air it out. It reeked of smoke. Neither room had the a/c turned on, and it was a 90 degree day. I can understand power saving, but perhaps someone should turn them on at some point so the guest can have a nice, cool room to come home to. It was probably in the 80s in the rooms. My wife and I blasted the a/c, and went to bed. My brothers in the double room, however, blasted their a/c to discover hot air blowing out of it. They assumed it could take a few minutes to cool down, so turned the lights off and tried to fall asleep. In the middle of the night it was still like an oven in their room, so they called the front desk to ask about a room change due to the malfunctioning a/c but were told harshly by someone with a foreign accent that it was too late to change rooms and that they should've called when they first checked in. Now like I said, it was late and we wanted to go straight to bed. They thought the unit would work after a few minutes but fell asleep. This is unacceptable to me, that they would basically get yelled at because the hotel didn't want to be disturbed to give them a room transfer. I think that their door was initially opened when we arrived because this was a reported problem in the past, and they were too cheap to fix it. In no way did keeping a door propped open cool the room, or alleviate the smoking smell. When we checked out I told the front desk person of the problem, and she treated us like we were entitled. No apology or sympathy or any offer of a refund or discount. I asked her to please record that the room had no working a/c and she just stared at me. So someone else will probably have that problem too. Good luck getting them to admit fault and move you to a different room. Staff was completely unprofessional and uncordial. The man behind the desk when we checked in didn't offer a smile, greeting or anything. Just asked for our name, my I.D., and gave us our room keys. Stay anywhere else, I'm serious. I know it's cheaper, but easily the worst hotel experience I've had.

The okay and the really thin walls!

The location is a little off the beaten path. I was here for a boot camp graduation and it was a little farther than I wanted to be. Breakfast was adequate but the staff was not very friendly. I have to say the worst part was the thinness of the walls. Everytime someone shut their door around me, my bed and TV literally shook. Heard the shower kick on next door everytime they used it and other unmentionables. Much older hotel with the appearance of one.

Had a great time at Courtyard. I would highly recommend to any families attending the Navy graduations. There is also a shuttle to and from graduation. I stayed only 2 nights but had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. Also it's right by Walmart and other restaurants.

From the moment we entered registration, we felt welcomed as if a friend or relative were awaiting our arrival. We were in a clean comfortable room where we could finally relax after our long day of delays at the airport and the stress of the trip. This is the second time we've stayed here and were very pleased both stays. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Perfect location for our purpose. I needed a place to stay for a few nights that was close to the Navy Recruit Center because i was going for a Bootcamp graduation. It was extremely inexpensive for 3 nights, at under $150, but it was honestly the smallest room. Didn't have a closet, seemed very worn in, but it is what i expected. It was a cheap quiet stay, for a quick visit.

The rooms and bathroom were not very clean. We found garbage around the room and bathroom from previous guests. Lots of noise from the hallway and parking lot until 3am.

Convenient Location and Great Price

The hotel was close to the Navy base which is what we were looking for. The continental breakfast was lacking in variety. The 2 rooms had a funny smell, a mildew smell. The bathtub in one room did not have a plug. I was given a plug which did not fit, so I gave up. The price of the rooms was perfect. All in all it was a convenient, ok place to stay, but if I went back I would stay somewhere else.

What was I thinking.

When I first reviewed staying and this hotel i thought it would be a great deal for the money. boy was i wrong right off the staff were really nice about getting me to my room. But as i walked to my room i noticed that the hallways were not air conditioned so i was wondering what was up with that the halls were actually hotter than it was outside and it wasnt too hot outside. Then when we entered the room it was even hotter with no air on at all. the room was fair at best i would not recommend this place to anyone not familiar to the area as the room didnt have any information of the surrounding area not even a phone book. The next morning my spouse and i were sleeping in because we arrived at the hotel late in the morning and all morning we were pestered by the maid wanting to bring fresh towels that were not needed and she kept beating on the door opening it to find the chain on the door and then leaving. then when we finally were up and ready to go she just opened the door again and threw the towels at us. Also the towels and linens were far from clean the hole time we were there.

Son's Great Lakes' Graduation

I was so pleased. The hotel was clean and convenient. I was so glad I was only about 4 miles from the Great Lakes' facility, and the hotel had a shuttle that I used to go to the graduation. Not only was that convenient, but I also was near restaurants and didn't have any problems at meal times. Staff was helpful, and the facility had just been painted, or so it seemed. I was pleased when I arrived, The hotel was was much better looking than the pictures online. The only problem was a minor odor, like the room had been closed up for a while, but it went away in a short time. I would recommend this hotel to families for graduates, especially if you are traveling in a small group or alone. Thanks for everything!! Mike

There are few issues I had:
- Traffic noise from Highway.
- Noise from next rooms when people talking loud at night.
- No room service during stay.

Location was close to the great lakes naval graduation and had plenty of fast food and dunkin donuts around the area. The guy working the midnight shift was very friendly and helpful

It was nothing fancy, for sure, and needed some repairs here and there, but it was clean, the staff was very nice/helpful, and it was a good value. Our kids loved the pool, which was kept very clean and in good condition. Wireless in the room was nice, and 24 hour coffee in the lobby was a plus.
