Rooms need work

The hotel is very noisy. We had especially loud neighbors the first night (pounding on doors, yelling and swearing the halls, etc. -- all at 1 am), which was particularly inconvenient when traveling with 2 small children. This makes me wonder about the typical caliber of the clientele. Also, the shower/bathtub water pressure was non-existent. It took about 20 min to fill the tub enough to give a 1 year-old a bath.
On the plus side, the hotel was quite clean and the staff were very friendly. I list this hotel as "recommended" because I'm unfamiliar with the Decatur area and don't know if there's anything better around.

the hotel is in need of some TLC. Nothing too terrible, a tile here, a curtain there, some better sheets would be a nice touch.
The first night we stayed, a Saturday, the place was fairly busy but noisy and with lots of kids running around and the pool was deafingly loud! I could hear the noise clearly in my 2nd floor hallway!
The rest of the time we seemed to be only one of maybe 10 rooms that were full.
The hotel is beautiful and has potential, unfortunately it is located in an economicaly struggling area and it shows.

Nice premises. Check-in experience was not good. Manager "seemed" to have lost the reservations, saying it was fully booked. Had to go to Baymont Inn reservations to prove there were reservations.

was in town for family gathering. chose this hotel because last minute plans. compared to other hotels in the same area (of which there are many) that were not avaiable because of July 4th weekend, this was an okay compromise. Oddly enough the room number system made no sense and it was hard to find my room. Operating the tv's takes two remotes and you have to ask the desk which one does what. The major drawback was that the front half of the hotel smelled of old smoke and the back half where I stayed smelled like fresh cat pee! Plus the "breakfast" they offered in the morning was pathetic and gross. I would not recommend this place. The maids did do an amazing job cleaning the rooms though. They were spotless when I returned to the room in the afternoon.

This is a great hotel. We always stay here when we are in town. The rooms ae very clean and nicely stocked. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I would reccomend this place to anyone who asked.

Not perfect, but not awful

The room was big and fairly clean. The bed was hard as a rock though, and it was hard to sleep.
The breakfast was pretty good, and the pool was open late.
Things went pretty well for our first and second mornings there. But, on the third morning, we received not one but two unsolicited wake-up calls. The maid also started banging on the door at 10am, 2 hours prior to check out, despite the fact that the "do not disturb" sign was on the door. On that final morning, the toilet also stopped working.
I do have to say the front desk staff was very friendly when I was checking out and reported these problems.

ok for the price, wouldn't stay again

The lady that checked us in was super friendly! The beds and pillows were good and there was plenty of hot water. However, two of the lamps didn't work, the hair dryer didn't work and the bathroom was made for very short people. The sink was barely over my knees, the toilet was very low and the shower head was at my chest. While the price was good, I don't think I would stay again because of the bathroom.
