Great Experience!! Loved Hotel!!

  • Allie R
  • Jan 26, 2012
Ok so I read a bunch of reviews before I booked this hotel and I was a bit skeptical considering there were mixed opinions. I usually forget to come back and rate where I stayed but I figured I would like to put my 2 cents in...I took the advice from a few different reviews and when I checked in I asked for a non-smoking room on the 17th floor that is a refurbished room. We received a room with all of those requests and we couldn't have been happier. It was just a one night stay but we had a blast. We also had 3 closets which probably would have been even more helpful had we stayed longer but still was nice to have the extra room! The small kitchenette was great!!! We were able to keep our beer and champagne cold and make popcorn in the microwave!! As far as I could see everything was clean. You can tell nothing is brand new but for the price I paid I was thrilled!!! Not to mention it is right behind the John Hancock building and Water Tower Place so walking is very convenient!! We ate at Mike Ditka's, which is one of my favorite places, and it is only 2 blocks away!!!

We stayed for one night just to get out of our routine. The staff could not have been nicer. The room was comfortable and reminded me of a small European hotel. The free breakfast was an unexpected surprise. Although the furniture was a little worn looking, everything else was in tip top shape. You can't beat the price for this location.

  • Jan 24, 2012
I stayed at the Wyndham a weekend in January this year and enjoyed my stay. The location was great- I recommend the Corner Bakery right across the street for breakfast, and Garrett's popcorn shop down a couple of blocks for a delicious snack. The staff were nice and friendly and the hotel was clean but offered few amenities. The TVs were outdated and the "cold box" in the room didn't get below 50 degrees. We walked everywhere from the hotel that we wanted to go but it would be relatively easy to catch a cab.

Magnificent Mile convenience and boutique style with top-notch dining Its location near the Magnificent Mile is a given convenience for the shopper and tourist sets, but foodies also have reason to flock to the Affinia Chicago: C-House. The seafood- and steak-driven restaurant sets a standard for fine dining in a boutique hotel. Aesthetically, the hotel brings life to modern spaces with its fresh plants, skyline mural and chic guest rooms. By night, it's all about soaking in the views from the rooftop bar, which just happens to be open year-round. Highlights Sip specialty cocktails at C-House's rooftop barFresh, seasonal fare at C-HouseWalking distance to Magnificent Mile shopping and sightseeingBoutique-chic guest rooms RoomsCarefully chosen accent pieces make the rooms at the Affinia Chicago pop, from burnt-orange bolster pillows to crystal globe table lamps. Plush mattresses topped with down comforters and triple sheets -- plus the added luxury of a pillow menu -- lend comfort to the carpeted space. Little things, such as Damana bath products and make-up mirrors displayed on the vanity, are welcome touches. Like the room size and layout, views at the Affinia Chicago can vary, while amenities such as a work desk, CD stereo with clock radio with MP3 capability and in-room coffee maker are standard. Visitors pay a surcharge to access Wi-Fi or hardwired connections. Features Cookbook author and TV chef Marcus Samuelsson isn't a fixture in the kitchen, but his influences linger. More Scandinavian than straight surf-and-turf, the menu puts unique spins on seafood and steak. Up on the 29th floor, guests take in delicious views of the skyline at C-View -- one Chicago Rose at a time. After ponying up to the communal table for burgers and conversations with fellow tourists, patrons may not want to leave. Great hotel, nice weekend

  • Gregan
  • Jan 31, 2012
We really enjoyed the clean and well appointed rooms, as well as the view, which encompassed the city, the river and the lake. Walking distance to Navy Pier. Great pool. Fabulous lobby! Our only complaint was that although we had the DND sign on the door (napping infant), housekeeping rang the room shortly before noon to ask if we needed service that day. Needless to say, the nap was abruptly ended by the clanging phone! We mentioned this to the staff at check-out, and they were very apologetic and promised to discuss it with the manager. Overall, we really enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location for shopping, restaurants, and site seeing. It is very easy to catch the buses to visit the museums, aquaruims, and other required tourist musts. We bought the 3 day bus passes and city passes. I would not recommed the City pass for everyone. I would have rather bought the full access passes at the Shedd Aquaruim and the Field Museum and not the City pass. The staff at the hotel is excellent. They are very helpful and friendly.

I had never been to Chicago before and was quite satisfied with my stay at the W Lakeshore. The hotel seems as if it has been converted into a W. Overall they did a great job. My only complaints are that the ceilings are on the low side throughout the hotel and they have that awful popcorn finish. The rooms are very chic and feel more like a cool apartment than a stuffy hotel room. My one complaint regarding the room is that I found the beds very uncomfortable. The mattress was on the hard side and the pillows were not down. Also the bed and bath linens seemed to be a low thread count and were on the scratchy side.

It is a smaller hotel 1 block off Michigan avenue. It is an older facility, but a place to sleep and not much more.

Great central location easy walk to theatre and museums, clean, quiet and the staff are helpful and gracious. I heard some caterers talking about it as the best kept secret for weddings. My second stay and I'll go back.

Great Location, clean room

We had a great experience in this hotel the location is awesome right in the middle of everything. We were able to walk everywhere from the Zoo to the Navy Pier, Maginficent Mile and more. A bit far form O'Hare but we took the metro and made it there in about an hour and fifteen minutes. The room was small but very well kept and clean, had a flat screenTV, and radio with Ipod dock which was useful to charge my phone at night. The bathroom was clean as well which is always a good thing based on previous hotel experiences. We did not use any of the amenities so can't really comment on that.
