From registration to departure, it was a good experience despite a few glitches. Found the hotel to be very clean and the bed super comfortable. The continental breakfast could be improved upon but not a real problem. Computers were down in the Business Center which could have been a problem to check in for our flight. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful in accessing the airline site for us to check in an print boarding passes. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were just stopping in Urbana for a short trip, and we found that the hotel was very clean and modern. The hotel was better than I expected and because of its cleanliness I felt comfortable the whole time we were there. The room did not gross me out, which is a plus especially since it was pretty affordable and I had never stayed with a Wingate by Wyndham. I also appreciated that since we were driving and we ended up running pretty late we were able to check in late (or really at any time) and our request to check out at 1pm the next day was granted even though the hotel staff had a full house the next day. They were very accommodating to our needs and I would definitely stay again, or even trust the hotel chain based on the quality we saw that trip.

Well designed, in a great location, and Houlihans, just off the lobby, is a very good restaurant.
We left our purse, containing several $ hundred, in the lobby one evening. The staff was most helpful in finding and returning it....intact.

The staff was friendly, the room clean, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
My room had a 40" LCD TV, which was also nice. I was able to use the free wireless internet to get some work done also.

This was a great hotel with friendly staff. The free appetizers and drinks were a bonus and it is located in a prime spot close to shopping and restaurants. Only negative things were the pool was closed due to cleaning and the rooms are a little outdated. But it was very clean and perfect for the price.

Great value for a family

We stayed at the hotel with our family of 6. The room was spacious with two double beds and a pull-out sofa bed. There was also plently of room for the baby's portable crib. The hotel was very clean. We used the room refirigerator/microwave for snacks, and the kids really enjoyed the pool area. We were amazed that the breakfast choices were so plentiful, including hot items. There was even a made-to-order omelet station. The proximity to U of I was perfect for our plans. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We will definitely stay here again, when returning to U of I.

Very enjoyable stay - clean & comfortable room, friendly staff, decent breakfast - for a very low price! Felt like I was staying at a far more expensive hotel. Probably the best deal in that area. It's not really near the heart of town, but a short car ride (or a 30-40 minute walk) will get you to downtown Champaign. Highly recommended.

I stayed here while traveling with my grade school aged son over the holidays. We
had a great time. The front desk staff were very friendly, and the hotel
even had a free dinner-time reception of hamburgers/hot dogs/chips, etc. Nothing
fancy, but it kept us from having to drive more! My only complaint was the chilly
pool temperature--but they immediately raised the temp when I asked.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean
and quiet.

Our room was very clean and comfortable but the parking lot was to small for the amount of travelers and the people at the front desk were unwilling to help even though some of the cars belonged to workers who were off duty but were only visiting each other in the parking lot.

A friend and I traveled to Champaign, Illinois to review a boat for sale in that area. We checked in late with a confirmed reservation and were pleased with the smooth checkin process. Our room was clean and spacious. We had a quiet night and slept well.
We had a cup of coffee in our room as we got dressed and then went to take part in the Continental breakfast. We were surprized by the magnitude of breakfeast food available. Even freshly prepared waffles and hot syrup were available. Breakfast was filling and most pleasant. It was a nice stay over and we were pleased as we left.

Good location but the rooms need to be buffed up. A fresh coat of paint and some new carpet would go a long way.

My semi broke down on I57 the tow truck driver dropped me off at this hotel. I was happy to have a place to stay while my truck was getting fixed. My dog and I stayed in a small single bed room on the first floor. I was glad to be near an exit so my dog and I could go for walks-we came and went as we pleased-nice fields surround this hotel-it looks like its in the middle of nowhere -thank god for delivery food. The Desk Agent had plenty of menus and options if you are ever there and need get stranded too. I would stay here again if my route ever permitted it. It was clean, quiet and affordable.

Graduation weekend

Recent three night stay over graduation weekend. Room was very clean, staff friendly. Shower was fantastic, hot and strong water flow (one of my pet peeves at hotels are shower heads that just dribble out water). Nice to have a kitchenette, used the fridge and toaster every day. Plenty of towels provided although they were rather small. Bring your own shampoo, etc and hair dryer. Only amenities in room are soap and iron and ironing board. Lack of full length mirror was inconvenient. TV was pretty small. Mattress was comfortable and room was quiet, no car noise filtered in from parking lot. I was overall very happy with my stay.

wonderful stay ..clean and comfortable..great location.staff was very helpful and made my stay pleasant...safe place and the price was very reasonable..best price in the area..no more then 4 blocks from hwy74...not many amenities and thats what keeps the price low..but then again you will get a fridge ..coffee in the room ..it will be the little things not provided like..shampoo,and hand cream..also bring your own bar soap..they do provide it but they are rather small..If you are on a budget its the place to stay.

We came to Champaign/Urbana for Roger Ebert's Film Fest. The Candlewood is a newer facility. Suites come with fully equipped kitchens. Towels are nice and fluffy and shower is excellent! The location was great for easy access to the Virginia Theater and in town restaurants as well as shopping malls. Staff are friendly and helpful. Offered to change our room when we reported the ant problem. Rating would have been 4 stars without ANTS!

Cross this off your list.
The Hotel is supposed to be non-smoking. The hallways were filled with blue cigarette smoke (guests left their doors open to the hall) at night.
Desk is closed on Saturday's at 2pm and check in isn't until 3pm - had to wait 20 minutes for someone to come check us in.
Shower curtain was three inches short of the top of the tub - creating a mess when showering.
The bed is a poor quality mattress on top of plywood.
I could add more, but I think you get the picture.

We tried to checkinto this "hotel" three times - all within the time span of an hour and a half. There is no "front desk" - there is a window that was closed all three times we tried to check in. The window was closed. We were supposed to pick up the telephone if no one was at the window and call for someone to ome and help. We did that. We heard the phone ring behind the closed window. NO ONE answered!!! We saw two other families going through the same thing. We ended up leaving and finding a different hotel with a room for us. This was a very busy weekend in that town and, considering I had a reservation, this was a horrible situation. I would NEVER recommend this hotel - in fact, I think you need to take this hotel off this website.
