Disappointing Destination

The lobbie if you can call it that was fairly crowded when I went to check in. I'm not sure if it was the motel staff, or the person working the counters family, but it gave me the feeling I was interupting their conversation to check in. When checking in I was fairly disappointed to find their price advertized on the sign outside much lower than my [...]price. So much for price assurance.

Wasted My Money on This Stay

We just wanted a place to sleep after shopping at the outlet mall. The location was convenient but the appearance outside needs improvement. When we went in to check in, the clerk had no idea what he was doing and didn't seem to speak much English. It also seemed that they had been working on doing some upgrades and then decided to stop half way through (the trim was torn off and not replaced yet, cords for the TV hanging down, etc). They offer free continental breakfast but the selection was horrible and so we did not take advantage of this free service. We tried to go into the pool area and the doors were locked even though it said that during certain hours it was unlocked and available. We decided it wasn't worth it and went back to our room. The rooms seemed very outdated. There was a note on the counter when we checked out that another customer had left that said "You need to hire a maid service and people that speak English!". Clearly I wasn't the only person to be disappointed with my stay.

A good motel to stay at for the price, but needed some updates like the doors. Had to get our keys reset a few times but otherwise a good motel.

While this is close to Amana the hotel is not very user friendly. there is NO elevator to the 2nd floor making it hard for elderly and disabled. we did not see any desk staff for 15 min at check in and they were very unfriendly. the room was ok but the ice machine was downstairs. the breakfast was horrible. there was hardly any selection or seating. The whirlpool was broken while we were there and the pool inside area was hot hot hot. The toilet was not attached to the floor and very low the ground. Tall people would have a very hard time. this place needs updates to make it more welcoming and user friendly.

Not what I would expect from Clarion

Passing thru Iowa, and looking for a decent safe place with a pool, I was told this hotel was in a "good area". I guess it was, compared to other places in Iowa-? It was pricey, probably because it was close to the Amana Colonies (which I knew nothing about). The "pool" was non-existent due to the fact that they had a
"water park", which was totally geared to little kids, noisy, and not well kept.
Most of the hotel followed the theme of the Amana Colonies, with alot of
antiques, etc, however, the halls, entrys, and water park were dingy and in ill repair, with dirty plastic plants everywhere. Could have stayed at a Country Inn
for half the price and with breakfast, and had a quiet simple pool and hot tub,
that didn't close at 9pm. If you are visiting the colonies, maybe a nice place to stay, but if not, don't stop in Iowa--keep driving. Never had a good experience
at a hotel in that state. Be careful if you make a reservation in Iowa.

We stayed here for one night and the waterpark was great. Definitely recommend if you're passing through and need a place to stay for one night - it's a bargain.
