Started out excellent then slipped

For the cost, this hotel had a roomy, well-appointed room, nice toiletries, decent amenities. There was a complimentary valet service for the car (tips only) and that was a life-saver in cold icy wintry Waterloo, Iowa. In general everything was quite lovely until day 2 when maid service skipped me completely. I complained and someone came to my room at 8 pm to take care of basics. If I were to be very picky, I would also note that the flat-screened TV gets only analog stations, which look not-so-good, unless you order a movie. To be fair, I should note that this is a casino and the staff probably don't want you watching TV in your room. All in all, I will return to this venue. It served me well.

Everything was great except when we went to get a cart to take our luggage to the car, there were no carts available. Inquired at the front desk and they stated that some guests keep them in their room their entire stay. If that is true they have some inconsiderate guests. The front desk suggested we use a "wheelchair" to bring our luggage down. That definately would not have worked for us since we had so much luggage and a baby. And what if we did that and someone came in and needed a wheelchair? I thought that was a terrible suggestion.
Overall the hotel was good but thought they should have had more carts for the size of the hotel.

Waterloo Howard Johnson

Our online reservation included a refrigerator and microwave and a 32" TV. Our room had no 'fridge, microwave and a 19 older tv. This was formerly a Heartland Inn, and has changed to Howard Johnson recently. The breakfast options were better previously. The room was clean and it was a quiet place, but left much room for improvement.

This is an O.K. place to stay except that there is only one place to eat next door and it was not very good. You have to drive about 2 miles to an area of shopping and restaurants.

Poor mgmt

Had an issue I needed to discuss with a manager and he kept avoiding me. My problem never was resolved and I will NOT be staying there again. I was actually staying there for a second time and had issues the first time. The GM sent me an e-mail to give me a discount on my next stay. The hotel would not honor it, and of course the said GM does not work for the company anymore. What a circus.

Our room was nice, clean and open. Hot water was more warm in the early morning hours only draw back. I would stay again, very close to shopping, restaurants and express way. Book in room that has all local information listed, very nice!

Room is nice and spacious, but mattress needed replacing about 50 years ago (OK maybe just 5 years ago) and shower head was terrible, water came out of about 1/4th of head.

Hotel was very nice,great to have new.Location was good.
Staff did not seem knowledgable regarding restaurants,surrounding area. Manager"s open house in dining area was not supplied. With an hour left no wine and only 3 cans of beer. It seems if one does an open time to customers you should have snack and beverages available.

Came into town for a graduation! Hotel was extremely clean! People at the front desk helpful and friendly. Business room functional and clean. Breakfast has a wonderful assortments of things to eat, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the TV. Worked out in their exercise room which was adequately equipped. Took a dip in the pool and soaked in the hot tub, very clean and kept up well! Will stay here again!

We stayed one night here after a very, very long day of driving. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable and was overall a good value. There was the smell of old cigarette smoke in the lobby and in our non-smoking room--a holdover from the time when smoking was allowed in these places. The breakfast buffet was minimal.

Was in Cedar Falls to attend the National duals wrestling tournament. Was only at this hotel for a bed and a shower and that is all it is really good for. If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay for the reasons that I was staying there, then you may want to stay here otherwise I think you will be disappointed.

The first room we were assigned smelled so bad we had to change rooms or leave the hotel. The second room was OK but the rooms were tiny and average at best. My wife and I were traveling and she would not stay there again but I would in a pinch. The staff was very firendly and a good free breakfast.

Just an overnight!

Our room was clean and comfortable. When I filled out the request for lodging I did not find a spot to mark discounts such as Government (VA Hospital) and or AARP.When we arrived and asked re a Government discount we were informed we could not get one as we had used to internet to make our reservation. The savings would have been considerable. Do not understand why this happened. The three adults in our party will not be interested in using [...] in the future.

The hotel was okay, but you really do get what you pay for. It was affordable and met our needs for the most part. The room and pool were fine, the breakfast was okay - not much of a selection. My biggest concern was that there really wasn't a non-smoking area - even though our room was supposedly non-smoking, the one right across the hall was a smoking room so we had to walk through the cloud every time we came and went! Since my 1 1/2 year old was with me that was VERY upsetting.

As Motel 6s go, this one is just fine. It's cheaper than any motel in the area but it's nothing special. If you just need a clean, good-sized room that's reasonably quiet for the night, this will work fine. I liked access to free WiFi best.

We were in Waterloo to visit relatives and this hotel provided all the after visiting amenities we could have wanted. The hot tub was a little too hot but on a cold night, it was relaxing anyway. We loved this hotel for low cost and convenience to a grocery store, fast food and gas station. This hotel was relatively new and we will definitely stay again. We have stayed in more upscale motels in the area and have been disappointed.
