Iowa City Football Weekend

I was surprised to find a room so close to campus for a football weekend, so convenience trumped price (which was twice the rate of any other weekend). All in all, the staff was friendly, the gym and indoor pool were nice, the free breakfast had more options than anticipated, the wireless internet worked and the bed was comfortable. The hotel could use a renovation, but everything worked.

Room ok, should keep party people in a section away from us older clients. They allow pets but had to walk a distance to walk your pet. Maybe supply bags for your pet disposal. I would rather have a full breakfast, maybe open the restaurant for breakfast.
Staff very pleasant and professional. Not enought bath towels for 2 people.

For this business traveller, spending three nights in the one location, it had everything I needed and wanted: friendly and efficient staff, quiet location, clean, and a homely feel with cookies and tea in the foyer all day and a sitting area that is popular. Perhaps the bed could have been a tad softer (for some people) but i slept well on it.

Close enough to get to the game easily but not so close as to be congested with traffic. Some of the common areas seemed a little worn (e.g, pool and elevator) and they ran out of OJ. But, I wasn't expecting the Hilton. Good value.

I have stayed at this hotel several times, and the staff has always been friendly. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the AC worked well. The shower pressure is better than most hotels (I like a strong shower). The king suites have a sofa (with bed) and a mini-fridge and microwave, which was a nice feature. They have free food for breakfast and dinner. There's a pool you can use. 2 computers in the business center. It's about a 5 minute drive to downtown Iowa City, and about 30 minutes to the Cedar Rapids airport. I'm very pleased with the hotel for the price.

The towels were dingy white, hair on the bathroom floor. The blanket on the bed had "dried stuff" all over it, I can only imagine. Non-smoking room...didnt smell like it. The bed was actually comfortable.

Friendly desk attendant;Room had a smokey smell at first-not sure I asked for non-smoking so may not be their fault. It dissipated quickly. Fridge and MW in room. No bathmat. Great breakfast. Pool looked great but no opportunity to use it.

The hotel was great. Clean, accommodating , great location (right by I-80) and good breakfast. The only complaint is the thin walls. We were on the 1st floor and could hear the rooms on boths sides of us and the rooms above us.

Family participated in RAGBRAI, the 7 day bike ride across Iowa, Register's Great Bike Ride Across Iowa.
We booked way ahead in advance. We were given a Smoking room ( instead of our Non Smoking booking -not good). I tried to ask for 2 beds instead of 1 King because our daughter joined us. Staff said there were no rooms available. OK, but while I was using the computer at 2 different times, staff offered 2 rooms, 2 double beds, non smoking (!) to callers or drop ins. Price was $10 lower than what we paid for 4 months prior (!). I did not appreciate this, but kept quiet. Writing this instead. Room 111.

Swimming pool open long hours (730am until 11pm), and the waterslide was open late mornings even though that is not posted. Staff was very helpful and assisted me in getting back to my room with an armload of food from the hot breakfast for my toddlers. Breakfast was also good with two kinds of waffle batter for the griddles, toppings for the waffles including whipped cream and a variety of sauces. Also good were the sausage and eggs. We stayed 3 nights, and there was sausage every day, and the other hot pot had scrambled eggs or egg sandwiches. Also available were cereal, pastries, yogurt, grapes, bananas, hot coffee all day, and a couple of kinds of milk. Only advice when checking in is to request a room on the south side, as a train track passes on the north. 2 nights a train went by with his horn going off, while the other night they went by but didn't blow their horns.

We had a confirmation number and 1 hour out from hotel they call to say they over booked and were sending us to a hotel 25 minutes from our destination. Hotel staff was extremely rude not even sorry for the problem. Plus they promised a voucher in mail. Didn't come and when I told them 30 days later we didn't get it they turned it into our fault for not telling them earlier that we didn't get it!? Didn't care as wont be back

When I initially entered the room, I found that the kitchen/work table had not been cleaned of spilled salt. In the middle of the night, I got up and my feet touched something under the bed. I discovered that there were half eaten chocolate chip cookies running along the bed.

good buy for the money

we were there for freshman orientation at the university and really only slept there. The bed was very comfortable compared with other hotels I've stayed in. The staff was very kind, the only problem was we had two room keys and only one would work, we got two others and the same problem. Besides that it was a good stay.

We were visiting for U of Iowa graduation. Room rates were very inflated at all hotels over normal rates. But rooms were fine and location is good. We have stayed here before and would stay again.

We came from Pa. to attend the wedding of a family member and joined with other family members to celebrate. We also had an impromptu family gathering for breakfast at the hotel.

Our confirmation was for 2 double beds and we were only given one. When we asked for the 2 double beds we had reserved, we were told that was not the hotel's problem, but rather it was the site where we purchased the room's problem and we would need to take that up with them. If you do not want your guests using online services, then the hotel should not work with them. Very unprofessional, expensive and the room was dirty, hair was everywhere in the bathroom. For the $200.00 that we paid, it was not worth it.

Adequate but nice....

I basically was there to sleep, have breakfast, and head out. I arrived just before midnight, checked in (which was painless) and went to my room. Unpacked and got ready to go to sleep, watched some TV, checked email online (also painless) and went to go to sleep. Woke, showered and went to grab a banana and some juice before heading out. The room was clean as was the bathroom, but like most motels, it was dusty. Overall ...nice stay.

Check in was easy and fast. Room was clean. I think this room is normally cheaper but on a football weekend they jack it up to $107. Still it worked for us.
