Access to Volcanoes National Park is easy and the staff were great to deal with. The room was well worth the price and the bathroom was clean. Other guests were very considerate and our stay was very comfortable. Watch your head on the way down the stairs as both my wife and I cut our heads on the low ceiling. Don't expect too much from the "full kitchen" as there are not allot of utensils to be able to cook with, and there are no staples (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, spices etc...) There are some very good restaurants close by though!

The Hale Volcano house, which is part of the Chalet Kilauea Collection of quasi-B&B lodgings, is charming, quaint, rustic, and very quiet--all good qualities to this reviewer. We had one of six rooms in the nearly-100-year-old house. There is a full kitchen, lots of open space, board games, TV, fireplace (Volcano is up high, and gets cool at night). The bed was comfortable, albeit a bit bouncy and the springs creaked a little. The downstairs, shared bathroom was large and well appointed. A very nice place to stay--and about five minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entrance. There are very few eating establishments near by, and they are adequate, but not sophisticated.

The cottage we stayed in was like a treehouse. We liked the fireplace and the views into the rain forest. Unfortunately, the place had not been cleaned when we got there. The owner sent us away and cleaned it and gave us a monetary compensation back. The downstairs bedroom was leaking water in the wall, creating a very wet carpet and unliveable sleeping conditions, also adding to the mustiness of the entire place. No heat except space heaters so it was a bit like camping. We won't go back.

The Turtle House exceeded our expectations! Cozy accommodation tucked away in the rain forest. Perfect location if you plan to visit Volcano National Park. Great place for family and plenty of room for 2 couples to share. Loved having a washer and dryer! Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quiet, comfortable, self-sufficient lodging.

We are located at the end of Haunani Road, thus our name. We built our home on 6.5 acres of rainforest pasture land in 1989,just a baby compared to the historic homes here in the village but it has settled into its own niche since then. We are sure the peace and tranquility that we enjoy will be yours too. If its activity you desire, the nearby Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offers opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring. There is also the Volcano Art Gallery and the Jaggar Museum to visit. There are great nearby restaurants from which you can choose. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Halana Lodge is a unique property. Five bedrooms have private baths, and two bedrooms share one bath. There is an extra 1 2 bath off the family room. There is a large living room, complete kitchen, family room, covered lanai, laundry room and dining room that can seat 20. All rooms are located on one floor. The lodge rents individual rooms, but it is ideal for conferences, retreats, seminars, family gatherings and weddings. We are 4 miles from Volcano Village and 5 miles from Volcanoes National Park. There are two different viewing areas to watch the Valcano and lava flow. The property is 30 acres and features a large lawn, fruit orchard and a fern forest for hiking. If you like to relax in serenity and privacy, Halana Lodge is perfect. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Tara Firma Inn Volcano is enveloped in the Hawaiian rain forest. Come relax and enjoy. The smell of cedar meets at the door and welcomes you in. Giant ferns surround the house and it feels very pre-historic. Dinosaurs could have lived in a place like this.We are located three miles from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the continuous lava flow since 1983 from Kilauea Volcano.
