Visitors must see the Wailua Waterfalls, located just five minutes from Lihue. The falls may be viewed from a lookout position just to the roadside near the falls. Although there is a hiking trail to the bottom of the falls, the path is slippery and visitors hike at their own risk.

Gaylord's at Kilohana on Kaumaulii Highway features fresh menu items using produce grown on the restaurant's own farm. The Kilohana is a favorite among guests and locals and is located on the site of the historical Kilohana Plantation.

The Lihua Shopping Center features many familiar department stores, while the Plantations Shops offer souvenir items for low prices.

Sports

Lihue is famous for its water sports. Kalapaki and Kauai beaches are perfect sites for scuba diving and windsurfing. Golf enthusiasts may play a challenging 18 holes at the Kauai Lagoon Golf Club.
