Excellent location, great mountain/ocean view. We actually like the pool area alot. It locates near Hanalei Bay (great place for surfing/stand-up paddling). The hotel is however very pricy.

For the value you can't get better. We had a lot of room, multiple balconies, kitchen with amenities, the pool at the hotel next door is amazing and we were allowed to use it. The staff was great! I would stay here again.

Enjoyed the stay

  • JustaVisitor
  • Apr 8, 2012
We arrived late at night, the staff was very helpful. We were able to grab some food from the restaurant at the hotel next door, and they had live music going on, nice! The beach is rough, no one swims there. The walk to the beach is a little long, but the ground is so beautiful with flowers and plants. We took advantage of the nice and big swimming pool at the hotel. The villas are at a middle-of-no-where location, very quiet, still, very easy to find. I wish they changed sheets more often. They only changed towels in the mid week, but not the sheets. The air condition really helped the first day when we arrived, because the humidity needed some getting used to. There is a welcome breakfast party every morning. The staff will brief visitors about the island and all the interesting things going on. BY ALL MEANS, try to attend one of the breakfast, it's loaded with information, saves a lot of time doing research on your own, also saves a lot of money. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at this facility.

Nice 1 bdrm condo

  • Boogie boarding babe
  • Jul 18, 2012
The condo was nicely laid out and easily accommodated us. It was clean, and had an adequate amount of kitchen and cooking utensils, nice fluffy bath and beach towels. However, the sofa bed was a sleep killer and back breaker. I advise asking for a roll-away. The staff was very nice and the swimming pools were delightful. There was no view in our unit, but we enjoyed eating outside on our lanai. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay.

This condo property was exactly what our family needed. We stayed 10 nights and needed a room big enough for all of us to stretch out in! Our room was clean and the housekeeping and maintenance crew were all super friendly and helpful. The facility was well kept up inside and out. The (old) pool was spectacular. My favorite! We will be coming back!

We upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom suite. The suite was awesome! The bed was comfy, the shower was great and the full kitchen was greatly appreciated as we don't like to eat out for every meal. The concierge staff was helpful in booking additional activities as well as pointing out some fun trails to hike. Overall, a wonderful experience at a fine establishment.

We had no issues with our stay at the Westin. They were very friendly and helpful. The only issue we ran into was that Princeville is pretty far away from most activities on the island. However, the North Short is the most beautiful part of the island you can stay in imo.

Very hot/muggy (87) inside because they have no air conditioning - need to get in millennium. North island has less wind so you have to sleep with doors wide open and screens that don't lock - Hello cat burglars. Only condo exchange I ever paid additional($109 extra)fees. They nickel and dime for everything and $100 if you don't have it clean when you leave. Not worth price of admission. AVOID at all costs. Other than diving Tunnels Beach and hiking from Kee'e, south shore has more going for it. Stayed in south and east shores with better experiences. Two Thumbs DOWN!

Description
Plantation offers the grace of yesteryear for de-stressing todayA 30-acre historic property on Kauai's west coast, Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages is a step back in time. Lovingly restored vintage houses are outfitted with period furnishings in rattan, wicker and mahogany. Each cottage is uniquely decorated and offers its own charm. While a handful of cottages are oceanfront, most are set among the coconut palm and banyan trees, fronting graceful manicured lawns. A restaurant, pool and spa add contemporary comforts, but the draw here is a feeling of being transported to a simpler, quieter time. Highlights Overall ambiance of idyllic restfulnessAuthentic sense of Kauai historySpa with indoor and outdoor treatment areasA 4,000-square-foot, five-bedroom Managers House LocationKauai's west coast, which serves as a gateway to Waimea Canyon, Koke'e State Park, and raft and kayak tours along the iconic Na Pali Coast RoomsRestored one- to five-bedroom vintage homes from Kauai's plantation era are clustered about the 30-acre Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages property. Period furnishings and architectural details evoke a bygone era and exude romance. For larger families or groups, top choice is the Managers House, a 4,000-square-foot, five-bedroom oceanfront home with AC in the master bedroom. The five-bedroom Kruse House, built circa 1920, was moved to this property in 2002. It is fully air-conditioned and each bedroom has a private bath. FeaturesThose looking for a place to relax and recharge in utterly peaceful surroundings will see this historic property as paradise. Plantation-era cottages set the tone, aided by inviting hammocks beneath the trees. Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages isn't the place for exuberant nightlife, though the on-site pub sometimes brings in local talent to complement its handcrafted brews. The antithesis of activity and action, there's a slow-down-and-breathe ethic here -- in the quiet, at the pool, at the full-service spa. While the black-sand beach is not for swimming, Kekaha Beach, five minutes away, has white sand and a lifeguard. Beautiful, "Old Style" feel to this place. It's like stepping back in time to old Hawaii in the 1940's. Great atmosphere. When we arrived there was no record of us having made arrangements online with above travel website. However, the front desk staff was very accomodating. Rooms a little dirty. I think the cleaning staff needs to pay particular attention to the bathrooms! Overall, wonderful experience

Excellent location for an affordable price!

  • May 27, 2012
We had four adults in a two bedroom two bath condo with partial ocean view (room 1105 - one queen bed and two twin beds) and we had plenty of space. We had service every other day to change out towels, vacuum, and she even ran our dish washer. This is not a luxurious hotel with room service, it is more of a home away from home. We used our equipped kitchen to make meals and BBQ. Poipu beach and Koloa are close- but we did drive everywhere and there was plenty of parking everywhere we went. Loved the washer & dryer-we were able to pack much lighter. Our room was on the bottom floor and close to the pool-they provide beach towels upon request. Loved it and plan to stay here again in the future.

Great Place to Relax and Enjoy

  • PaulHB
  • Dec 5, 2012
Fantastic location, 30 feet from the ocean waves hitting the lava shore. You can see the large sea turtles swimming and enjoy the pool hanging out into the ocean. Just a 10 minute stroll to Poipu beach where you can swim and snorkel and play in the sand. Good restaurants and shopping in the area. If you visit Kauai in the winter - Poipu is much dryer than the north shore

We had beautiful sunset views. The only downer is that the pool was not heated and there was no hot tub. We were within walking distance of two beautiful, calm beaches.

The location is great, nice rooms, personnel super-friendly, courteous and efficient, and even the garden view is beautiful. Just one very pricey and sophisticated restaurant for dinner, one lounge and one cafe. in a very remotely area. The location is not bad. In paradise I do not need to see a lot of urbanization. You would expect some more choices for eating and shopping (there is no stores whatsoever, even for essential necessities, as you always find at high end brand hotels). Also it didn't fulfill our expectations for a brand Hotel. It is a condominium, turned into hotel (and by the way they will try to sell you a timeshare or club vacations, obnoxious. However there is a "hidden fee" of $30 a day At first seems to be voluntary to enjoy free services (activities, internet, etc. It was offered at check-in, and I refused it. I didn't use any of the "services" but they were charging me the $30 dollars daily, thought it was a mistake. When I went to point this out, was told it is a mandatory fee. This is not clear when you book. I would not mind this if it was straight face, and was included in the price, but this practice is DECEIVING!!!

Great for the family

  • thenion
  • Nov 29, 2012
The grounds are pristine and laid out well for playing catch, frisbee or tag in between time in the ocean. Lots of children running around and a safe beach right out front for catching a first wave. Sunsets from the grass lawn or 4 steps down on the beach were fantastic with a Mai Tai in hand. It is close to a good mellow year round surf break Waiohai and rental equipment is right there to so save the 150 to 300 buck and hassle of bringing your own boards. The pool and water slide are best for small kids and hot tub was a bit cool but not a major concern. Plenty of eating options within a five minute walk and many more within a mile. We will return to Castle Kiahuna Plantation & The Beach Bungalows on our next trip to Kauai.

Very nice place to stay, especially for adults. Located on rocky coastline. It has no beach but shares sand beach with adjacent Hyatt. Its not a swimming beach as water is rough there but there are nearby very nice public beaches. Our second stay and would return. Lot of space available. All units are actually two bedroom as it is a timeshare facility. Only problem was king bed was too hard and sagged terribly, in both directions ! . Queen bed in quest room was fine and what we used. Grounds are beautiful and property well kept. Nice zero depth pool.

We stayed for 4 nights for our birthdays. We were in a garden view room which was surprisingly ideal. The room was on the ground floor with an outdoor patio, and when you go outside, there is a slight ocean view. There isn't really any foot traffic by the garden view rooms which is good - you can easily see into the poolside and ocean view rooms. Staff and concierge were very friendly and helpful. Red Salt a la carte breakfast was delicious.

We had a wonderful time staying at Kiahuna Plantation. The grounds were lovely, the room clean and the beach close and great for playing and swimming in. It is close to all Poipu has to offer. We are already planning to come back. Only issue we had was with our stove and maintenance was there to fix it within 10 minutes. Be sure to make a trip up north to Tunnels beach if you like snorkeling.

We loved our trip and love the island...traveled and used aston before...our only complaint was the furniture on our patio was broken so we couldn't lay out and enjoy our patio. Owners need to make sure their stuff is up to par!

Almost Perfect

Enjoyed a beautiful ocean view room, however when you read, beach within short walking distance, it is that. When you get to the beach it is a very small crescent rocky beach, off to your right another short walk is Poipu beach, which is larger and nicer. Now if your walking from the resort and carrying chairs and coolers it is best to take the short drive up Poipu rd to the beach, plenty of parking, life guard station, shower stations to clean off the sand after a nice time of sunbathing or snorkeling. We stayed at the Kahala units just down the road from the Aston office.

Description
Luxury space and prime oceanfront setting at Poipu condominium resortIntimate and upscale, Whalers Cove sits on a promontory at the edge of the Pacific Ocean in Poipu, panoramic views just one of its enticements. Turtles, dolphins and whales can be spotted from the one- and two-bedroom condominiums, depending on the season. Whalers Cove has just 38 luxury vacation homes, each one elegantly decorated with Hawaiian touches so guests feel the gracious aloha spirit in their surroundings. Every unit has a partial or full ocean view and enough space for vacation entertaining or the ultimate in relaxed privacy. Highlights Promontory location, 180-degree viewsOcean access for snorkelingOceanfront heated pool, hot tubOn-site manager/staffBarbeque areas for alfresco dining LocationPoipu sits on the sunny southern shore, one of the most popular resort destinations on Kauai. Upscale but with a casual island style, Poipu is home to two Robert Trent Jones, Jr. championships courses, both just a couple of miles from Whalers Cove. McBryde and Allerton gardens, part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, showcase Hawaiian and other exotic plants nearby, and Spouting Horn is a famous Poipu photo op -- giant plumes of spray shot sky-high by waves surging under a lava shelf. RoomsOne- and two-bedroom condominiums at Whalers Cove are located in elevator buildings and are supremely spacious, 1,400 to 2,000 square feet. All have a large lanai, full kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer and separate dining area. Trade winds and ceiling fans keep condominiums cool. FeaturesSet among orchid gardens and expansive lawns, Whalers Cove feels secluded, yet all that Poipu offers is close by -- fine dining and casual restaurants, championship golf, luxury spas, spectacular natural features and superb beaches. With just 50 to 75 guests at capacity, it is always possible to find quiet places to relax. A heated pool is one place to sun and swim, but Whalers Cove has ocean access so snorkelers can be in the water carousing with tropical fish in no time. A modest daily resort fee includes daily housekeeping and complimentary Wi-Fi in accommodations. Description
'Unplugged' Hanalei Colony Resort has low-key style and unexpected touchesUnspoiled, unplugged, unforgettable. That is the tagline for Hanalei Colony Resort. It captures the laid-back spirit of this retreat that feels as if it might be at the end of the world. At heart, Hanalei Colony Resort is about connections -- friends and family to each other and everyone to what nature has created. There are no TVs, stereos or telephones in the accommodations, so travelers longing for serenity will find it here. Hanalei Colony Resort has just 48 condos on five acres fronting a two-mile secluded stretch of sand on Hanalei Bay. Highlights No TVs or phones in condosHanalei Day SpaWeekly luauBabysitting (fees apply) RoomsAll Hanalei Colony Resort condominiums are the same size and floor plan, each with two bedrooms, full kitchen, lanai and large picture windows. Plantation-style architecture evokes the past of Kauai, and the overall ambiance is laid-back island style. Custom-made furniture is a nice touch. What is different is where condominiums are located. Premium ocean units are 10 feet from the beach, oceanfront units 30 feet away. Ocean-view units are 150 feet from the sand while garden-view condos sit 250 feet from shore. In a nod to the 21st century, condos have complimentary in-room wireless access. FeaturesThe relaxed atmosphere is enough to melt away stress, but Hanalei Colony Resort also has a spa. Parents needing adult-only time can request babysitting (fee applies), perhaps to dine together at the on-site restaurant or maybe to spend a couple of hours reading by the pool. Weekly continental breakfasts and cocktail parties bring guests together, and when it is time to take a break from relaxing, Hanalei Colony Resort has a personal concierge to help arrange tours and offer sightseeing tips. DiningMediterranean Gourmet Restaurant was voted Best New Restaurant on Kauai when it opened in 2006 by Honolulu Magazine. It remains among the top three eateries on Kauai, serving lunch and dinner in a beachfront setting. The menu has Greek, French and Middle Eastern influences along with local fish and Pacific Rim favorites. Guests can start their day at Napali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop, and there is also a weekly luau. Relaxing

  • Yovoman
  • Sep 25, 2012
This is a very relaxing, older facility; very clean and comfortable. Workable kitchen. Wifi works great in the room. No phones or tv so perfect if you want to get away. The beach in front is pretty but not swimable- sign warns of dangerous currents. The restaurant nearby does have good views of the beach and ocean, and the food is good, if a bit pricey ($24 for a "gyro" plate- essentially a de-constructed gyro sandwich on a plate. Most other entrees are $33 and up) Still worth it for a pleasant, ocean-front dinner. Good wine list. The pool and public hot tub are clean and nice.

Peaceful and beautiful, though a bit remote

  • GregPasquali
  • Jun 28, 2012
Despite that it looks like a bit of a dive from the outside, we were amazed at how nice the room interiors and amenities were, and at the really outstanding staff. Overall, the location was a little remote. Great if you are headed to the Napali coast, but its a mildly harrowing 10-15 minute drive from Hanalei and the restaurants/supermarket/etc town amenities up the road. That could be a great thing since you have amazing beaches and hiking so close by that are therefor that much more private, but its a bit of a hassle by the same token.

Description
Three low-key condo properties make one cliff-top Princeville resortCastle at Princeville is really three separate condominium properties, each with its own ambiance and amenities, within larger Princeville Resort. Common to all three are stunning views of Hanalei Bay or the famous fairways of Princeville, and spacious condominiums with full kitchens and private lanais. All of the properties sit atop the north-shore cliffs of Princeville. Paths lead to a crescent of beach below that is good for snorkeling in summer and surfing during winter months. The low-rise, walk-up buildings have two to four floors. HighlightsViews of Hanalei Bay and Bali Ha'i (made famous in the movie "South Pacific")Three separate condominium properties to choose fromProximity to all that Princeville offers, including golf and easy access to Hanalei Town LocationThe Castle at Princeville property is on the cliff-laced north shore of Kauai, high above Hanalei Bay. Beautiful location

Read below on how to find this lovely place. Once there, the check-in process was easy, the lady at the counter was very nice and informative, and we got a nice condo with partial ocean and mountain views. The condo property has its own private (steep) trail to a small but gorgeous beach looking out to the sunset and the Hanalei-"Bali Hai" coastline; and with no crowds. And it is close to all the north-shore must-see places.

this is not a place to hang out in all day and have a wonderful view and great amenities right at the tips of your fingers, but that's what we wanted. We wanted a place we could crash that had nice bed (the bed was fantastic) that we could come back to after a long day of having fun on this amazing Island.

Very convenient for single explorer of Kaua'i

  • Georail
  • Jul 26, 2012
For my first-time visit to Kaua'i of nine days, Plantation Hale proved to be ideal: excellent location right off the main coastal road about midway from both ends of the road, parking always available, self-catering convenient for one who sometimes left very early, condo very spacious for single person, with good internet connection, whirlpool for relaxation after long hikes, friendly reception staff. - Relatively low score on room cleanliness based on snack remains of previous occupants found on carpet of living room.

Kauai Coast Resort

  • Maximillion Loxandshmear
  • Aug 23, 2012
Beautiful place and great location! And their restaurant is my favorite on the island. My only complaint is there is no sound insulation between floors. My upstairs neighbors were up at 6am and I could here every foot step. I eventually had to switch rooms. The floor insulation was just as bad but at least my neighbors slept a little later. Other than that the rooms are spacious, beautiful and well appointed. The staff was very nice! This is a great value!

We had a fantastic time!

  • Darsh
  • May 14, 2012
This being our first time to Kauai, the location of the resort was perfect. Easy drive to the north, south and west shores. Located just outside the heart of Kapaa - we often walked to dinner or to get groceries. The room itself was perfect for the 4 of us. It had a full kitchen, which was great since we cooked one meal a day. We had a great view of the beach from our balcony. And the cleaning staff did a great job. We came back to a fresh room every day. However, the sofa bed left something to be desired, but all sofa beds do. The resort restaurant is AMAZING! We ended up dining there twice, we enjoyed it so much. OVerall, it was a great experience!
