The complimentary breakfast was really good!! It provided a wide choice of food items! I will definitely look at this hotel on my next trip to HNL.

the staff was great. very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a lot better than the continental ones in other hotels. the location was ok. everything was within walking distance. we shopped and walked most of the time. rented a car for a day. one thing that I was lead to believe (by this surveys agent) was that we would have a beautiful ocean view for our 30th anniversary. We paid the non refundable extra amount for the view but could see little bits of water, no beautiful sun rise or sunset.

Perfect for a honeymoon!

  • BBTT
  • Sep 26, 2012
The location of this hotel is prime! It is right in the middle of Waikiki with direct beach access. There are sea turtles in the water just off the beach and great waves too. We were able to walk to both the zoo and the aquarium as well as most of the highly reviewed restaurants in the area. We caught a local bus to Diamond head as well as Pearl Harbor. The shopping district outside the hotel is very high end, but there are some affordable venues as well. Make sure to get the hotel package with breakfast included...it is wonderful! Lots of fresh fruit, made to order omelets and pancakes/french toast as well as local dishes. Also, we splurged on the ocean front view...well worth it! The diamond head view would have also been good and would most likely include a view of the ocean from most rooms as well.

pleasantly surprised

  • Best Birthday
  • Dec 21, 2012
Well by some of the reviews we read, we were expecting below average. And with some of the comments I heard about the place from locals, seemed negative. But they must of done some changes, because we found it just right. We don't like fancy but must be clean. The gym and pool were better than most. It was a short and beautiful walk through the park to get to beach. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I think I would have liked is a hot plate or microwave. They had towels for the beach. And we really appreciated that even after we checked out they let us use all the amenities and stored our luggage and had a lounge, tv and showers we could use while we waited for our plane. We also went to check out one of the other places that was listed for a little bit cheaper (it was the tower one) And boy was I glad we stayed where we stayed. That other one looked dirty and dark and cement like, very unpleasant. Well at least from the lobby.

Pleasant surprise

I was completely surprised by this hotel. Check-in was fast. The room looked just like the photograph. It was clean, the kitchen was stocked with whatever materials I would need to cook a meal, if need be. The view of the ocean and city, from the tenth floor was amazing. I'm big on cleanliness and I can say the bathroom definitely passed my standards. The staff came by daily to clean and had no issue taking request. The pool was small, but I didn't come here for that. It's only a 10 minute walk (if that) to the beach. Right outside of the hotel is Protea, a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch only. Take in or grab something to go. Parking was $25 a night ouch, but my boyfriend was able to leave iPods in the car and not worry. The location was great! Both malls on either side. Restaurants. Night life. Best thing...can't here a thing in the room! I'm DEFINITELY staying there again!

I can honestly say there were several staff members that went above and beyond to make our stay a greatly fabulous one! I would love to stay here again just because of them. The hotel was beautiful, currently being remodeled to convert to a time share, we got to stay in one of the rooms that were already done...beautiful! Even though it didn't face the ocean, we didn't miss it at all since we were so close, just a few blocks away. The view of the canal to our left and the ocean to our right made for a lovely experience :)

Great just didn't like the A/C unit.

  • Rairaku
  • Aug 23, 2012
Everything was pretty smooth just the fact that even at the highest setting for the A/C unit, it didn't keep the room cool enough. Also the fact that the laundry mat did not have a coin machine. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.

Great value for money centrally located in Waikiki. No need to stay beach front. Only 5 min walk to the beach. Beach towels & chairs come in really handy. Superior rooms with kitchenette are good size and clean. Handy to have fridge & microwave. Only one downside is the old and noise air conditioning in the room. We decided to leave the windows open as it was very noisy to sleep. If they replace the air conditioning units in the rooms I would give it a perfect score.

Perfect for the two of us!

  • Oni1
  • Sep 23, 2012
The Aqua Lotus is quietly situated away from the busy Waikiki strip. But, you can still enjoy the strip after a short 10 min walk. It is located near the beautiful Kaimana beach, where I frequently swam as a child. The staff was friendly and helpful. The morning coffee and tea, and evening wine in the lobby was very convenient. The room was simple but elegant. The view of Diamond Head and Waikiki beach was a double whammy! The only thing that would have made our stay better was more reasonably priced eating spots nearer to the hotel. We would definitely return to the Aqua Lotus and recommend it to others.

Staff were very good. the hotel is small and people are made to feel as if they are part of a family. Great free wine for happy hour in the lobby. Free coffee in the morning, as well as a coffee maker in the room. Views are great. Diamond head and the ocean, park is across the road. Waikiki shell is in the park. lots to do and only a very short walk to the main shops. Beach is one of the best and not crowded like waikiki. I will stay in this gem of a hotel again. Favorate so far, and I come every year.

We had a great time at a great price. It felt we were staying in our own apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, and a large windows with an ocean view. You also get to rent DVDs from the roof (R) floor with also has a rooftop swimming pool with a gorgeous view of the beach and waikiki. You also get a newspaper each morning at your door, and you can rent beach towels for free at the front desk. Would definitely stay here again. Just know that there is an additional $10 "amenities fee" per day.

This hotel was perfect for the kind of tight budget vacation my boyfriend and I were looking for. Good Location, little pricey

  • Nakke
  • Nov 25, 2012
A good location, not that busy street. Had a corner room from which (14 fl.) nice view all to way to ocean. Breakfast is $12 coupon to small next door restaurant. Pool is only for (small) children. The real drawback is parking, it's 3rd party valet only and $32/night and from our car they busted the tire by smashing it to the curb, but admitted it but the results of the process are not yet known. Rooms are small as typical at city hotels, had refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. The price is somewhat high for the sq-ft, but staff genuinely friendly and efficient. Would consider (w/o rental car) to return by knowing what to expect, but would do some price checking around first.

Stayed here a couple of nights on a lay-over before heading to Sydney. Perfect location/value for a lay-over and a first time quick visit to Hawaii. Shopping and beach is a short walk, everything I needed was close by. Staff was very accomodating.

Description
Waikiki’s beachfront Gold Coast getaway Cradled between Diamond Head Crater, Kapiolani Park and the sparkling sea, the boutique Kaimana is one of the few hotels on Waikiki's exclusive Gold Coast. Although less than a mile from central Waikiki, the area offers the peace and tranquility of neighborhood Hawaii and one of Waikiki's most stylish stretches of sand. The hotel's signature open-air Island restaurant, the Hau Tree Lanai, is a longtime favorite of residents. Book an oceanfront room and marvel at the seascape before you. Dining The Kaimana's signature restaurant is the Hau Tree Lanai, a beachfront outdoor patio beneath a historic native hau tree. Island dishes are served breakfast through dinner, with special emphasis on local ingredients and preparations. Upstairs and offering a remarkable ocean view is Miyako, a Japanese restaurant that attracts many of the hotel's Japanese guests. The Sunset Lanai Lounge is perfect for a drink and appetizer. Rooms Room décor is muted and simple in hints of rattan and floral, with wall-to-wall glass doors leading to private balconies. All rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi. Book within the main wing of the hotel, where an oceanfront room delivers a multi-hued panorama in virtual 3-D effect. At the open-air lobby, take advantage of valet-only parking (fees apply) and 24-desk service. Location The Gold Coast is an exclusive residential enclave marking the eastern end of Waikiki. Framed by sea, sky and parkland greenery, it's one of Honolulu's most coveted addresses. Only three hotels have locked in this location, and only the Kaimana has a beachfront setting. Reach Central Waikiki by foot in about 15 minutes along the beach park walk. Both the city bus and the Waikiki Trolley stop near the hotel. Highlights Rejuvenate in a residential beachfront sanctuary on the preferred end of WaikikiEnjoy the natural surroundings, including 200 acres of park and hidden beachesDelight in the petite, open-air charm of the Kaimana, a rare gem in Waikiki Recreation Bird watching in Kapiolani Park and winter whale watching from Diamond Head Rd.Swimming and snorkeling in front of the hotelOnsite Jujube Salon and Clinic Fees may apply. More secluded and romantic

  • Elizzerbeth
  • Nov 24, 2012
I enjoyed that this hotel was a little ways away from the popular Waikiki Beach area because I was looking for a more secluded spot. It is also right next to a beautiful park area where a lot of people were running, biking, and walking. The beach is small, but you can always walk to Waikiki if you want a bigger beach experience. The view of Diamondhead from our window on the 6th floor was fantastic. The Hau Lanai restaurant was absolutely expensive, but the portion sizes were hearty, everything tasted delicious, and it's location right on the beach with the waves crashing in the background was very romantic.

Great Little Gem

  • Gerri99
  • Dec 29, 2012
Great location, east end of Waikiki on Ala Moana Blvd, right across the street from the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops. Denny's downstairs and a 24-hour diner two doors down. Parking onsite for a fee, but the room was such a good deal that it was still a great bargain. The room was very clean and modern, nice bathroom with granite counter tops. I loved the bed, but it was a little soft for my husband (we always have that conflict). The only downside was that the room was a little small, but we had king bed. If we had had a queen or two singles, it might have been roomier. Although there wasn't a balcony, it had two sliding glass doors that really opened it up. The room had a large flatscreen tv, microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker, which made it easy to have snacks in the room or bring back leftovers. The staff was great, anything we needed was no trouble at all. And they have a pool and a beach towel service so you can take towels to the beach if you like. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and recommend it wholeheartedly. Four stars might be misleading because it's not quite what you might expect in a four star hotel, but three just wasn't enough. Three and a half stars with a "plus" would probably be right.

Friendly staff and nice location

Really enjoyed my stay at Aqua Palms. Pretty hotel and rooms.. comfortable bed. I liked how there were cute beach towels and 10% discount to the coffee house next door..good food..however needs some improvement with clean towels with housekeeping.. one day I noticed after staff did a room clean, noticed some towels that were hanging looked and felt dirty..didnt use them..when I was heading out I overheard a conversation over walky talky between staff and housekeeping that the clean and dirty towels were getting mixed together..I ended up just asking for new towels. Friendly and helpful man in the front of the hotel, didn't get his name but he had two daughters that went to school in Stockton. He was pleasant and helped me carry my luggage to the shuttle. Planning on returning so will definitely consider staying here again.

Great Location but

  • bon604

If you're getting a deal on the room and airfare then it's pretty much, you get what you paid for. The room is small and all I can say is that it needs some serious updating. The drawers, floors, TV and bed sheets look old, which in turn makes the whole place look dirty... I think the bathroom, our beach front view and cutstomer service were the three good things about this room. If you are booking a room here, you may have a hard time finding it since it's wedged in between a shop and next to the one of a million ABC stores. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash this place because I wasn't planning on spending my whole day in it, I mean common, it's Hawaii and the location of this place is great! The beach is steps away and the international market and shopping centers are only a few blocks away. I'm not sure if I'd stay there again but it's decent for what I got for it.

Great!

  • KIKIkiki
  • Oct 31, 2012
The Waikiki Marina Resort is a great place to stay. It is a walk down to the action but that's why I like to stay here...it's quiet and calm down at this end of the beach. You can be down in the heart of Waikiki in 10-15 minutes but are still close to restaurants and convenience stores here. The large rooms here have been recently updated so are really nice with fully equipped kitchenettes, modern baths and furniture on the lanai. I had a marina side room on the 9th floor and it was beautiful at sunset. There is a restaurant on-site but the service it mostly a hit although I had one big miss at breakfast. I won't hold that against them!

very good experience

The staff was great. Very clean hotel. The hotel restaurant is seriously lacking in the way of a menu. We really could have used a hot tub on the premisses. The location is excellent, right on the marina, right next to the public lagoon, and a short walk to many other hotel bars and restaurants Overall, an outstanding experience..
