Old style hotel. Stayed up on the 22 floor. I know 22 floor; however, elevators are fast and there's 3 of them. A bar on the ground floor and chinese grub on lobby level. PARKING PARKING TAKE HEED:: I thought parking was included in the hotel fee cause there's a garage attached to the hotel...NOT, the parking facility is separate. Tell the parking reps that you're staying at the hotel to get a steep discount. $16 daily.

Stayed there when we lived in Hawaii, had a several family gatherings there. We held my brother inlaws wedding reception there.Had several friends stay there, and our company christmas party there. This time the main resturant was being renivated and under construction. We were shocked that so much construction, and road paving was going on street parking was limited, access in and around the Hotel was a terrible. Traffic noise from the paving of the roads around the Hotel was unbearible during the the morning to evening hours. We wished we would have been alerted to all the construction, paving, road work, and renevation at the Hotel, prior to arriving there. My wife and I are disabled and choose that Hotel because we had enjoyed there in the past. I know the next time I will call the Hotel and ask what up before we book our reservations. My Bad, look before you leap.

Clean, convenient room, friendly staff

  • McDaddyo
  • Mar 27, 2010
The location is superb, right across the street from the $800-a-night Halekulani hotel. We booked the Imperial for that reason, as we attended a wedding held at the Halekulani. We were able to stay close during the week of wedding festivities, while paying about 1/3 of what others who stayed at the Halekulani and Outrigger on the Beach paid. The Imperial is perfectly adequate if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in your room. If you think of it as a three-star hotel, you will be pleasantly surprised. If you think of it as a four-star, you may find some aspects disappointing. The weak points: our room was designed as a semi-condo style with kitchenette, sofa, coffee table and dining table. All that furniture, though, left room for about one open suitcase. The bed was a murphy, along with the sofa bed, which would be an efficient way to go if you wanted to pack four people into the room, but you'd really be tight. Might be good for very young travelers and was quite adequate for us: a couple with a 2 year old. The pool was tiny, though the view is nice. We didn't use the gym, but had to pay a $6 a day "resort fee" regardless. Bell staff were cheerful and helpful. I had trouble logging onto the Internet and they sent someone up to help me within 5 minutes. I'd stay there again, if being in the center of Waikiki at 1/3 the price was my goal.

Great Location but

  • bon604

If you're getting a deal on the room and airfare then it's pretty much, you get what you paid for. The room is small and all I can say is that it needs some serious updating. The drawers, floors, TV and bed sheets look old, which in turn makes the whole place look dirty... I think the bathroom, our beach front view and cutstomer service were the three good things about this room. If you are booking a room here, you may have a hard time finding it since it's wedged in between a shop and next to the one of a million ABC stores. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash this place because I wasn't planning on spending my whole day in it, I mean common, it's Hawaii and the location of this place is great! The beach is steps away and the international market and shopping centers are only a few blocks away. I'm not sure if I'd stay there again but it's decent for what I got for it.

Location! That, along with the super friendly staff is what makes this hotel a great stay for the value! A few blocks around the corner and you'll find yourself in the international food market. A few streets down and you'll be burying your feet in Waikiki Beach! Every morning you'll be greeted by friendly front desk staff. The room was pretty average, nothing spectacular. The room was clean everytime we got back to the hotel. No breakfast and no swimming pool, but a great value if all you need is a place to stay for a few days.

No frills, clean place to sleep

  • DFoldoe
  • Jun 17, 2012
We needed a room for a couple of days while we checked out Pearl Harbor. Coming from peaceful Maui, staying in chaotic Waikiki was an unpleasant shock. However, once we got used to the horrible traffic and cramped feel, we saw that there are many good local eateries nearby and International Marketplace to buy last minute gifts is almost across the street. The hotel itself is clean, staff is nice and helpful. Lots of street noise on our side, paid extra for balcony that had no view. Parking is $20 daily and more often that not you will end up in overflow parking 3 blocks away which is a hassle when you're exhausted after a day sightseeing.

Great value for money centrally located in Waikiki. No need to stay beach front. Only 5 min walk to the beach. Beach towels & chairs come in really handy. Superior rooms with kitchenette are good size and clean. Handy to have fridge & microwave. Only one downside is the old and noise air conditioning in the room. We decided to leave the windows open as it was very noisy to sleep. If they replace the air conditioning units in the rooms I would give it a perfect score.

Perfect Lower Budget Get-a-way!

  • Cheapo Family Travelers
  • Sep 21, 2012
The place is nothing fancy, but the staff was excellent, very helpful! My wife and I like to keep things inexpensive and having the studio room with a kitchenette was perfect for our family. We could save money buy eating in and were able to see all the things we wanted on a budget. We would absolutely stay there again.

Not a good place if you're flying in on odd hours. They do not have 24 hr front desk service. The room is very spacious. The room had a Murphy bed which hides in the wall. There is a night club next door. So if you're a light sleeper, this is not a place for you. The location is very convenient. Restaurants, bus stop, convenient stores are all right in front of you. Only about 2 short blocks from the beach.

The hotel is very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and frendly. Free continental breakfast is simple but adequate. Kona Coffee is great. The location is great, just 1/2 block from both main streets in Waikik in the middle of the block between then). An easy walk to beach, shopping, restaruants and take-out food. The NFL Pro Bowl block party started right at the end of this street. Great time.

Good Location, little pricey

  • Nakke
  • Nov 25, 2012
A good location, not that busy street. Had a corner room from which (14 fl.) nice view all to way to ocean. Breakfast is $12 coupon to small next door restaurant. Pool is only for (small) children. The real drawback is parking, it's 3rd party valet only and $32/night and from our car they busted the tire by smashing it to the curb, but admitted it but the results of the process are not yet known. Rooms are small as typical at city hotels, had refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. The price is somewhat high for the sq-ft, but staff genuinely friendly and efficient. Would consider (w/o rental car) to return by knowing what to expect, but would do some price checking around first.

Comfort, Affodability, Great Service

  • Trish2012
  • Dec 14, 2012
I'd really like to rate this hotel 3.5 stars but since that is not an option, 4 will do because 3 is not enough. The two things that hold it back are that the bathroom could use a little updating, but though simple it is super clean and does the job. If it had wi-fi in the rooms as opposed to cable hook up, that would be fantastic too. What I love about this hotel is that the beds are comfy, the rooms are always clean, and the staff is always super friendly and professional. They truly go out of their way to help you with anything and always with a great attitude. From the valets to the concierge, the front desk, to the cleaning crew - everyone has the Aloha spirit. You can't beat the price for the location and the comfort that this place has. My second stay here was just as good as my first, and it won't be my last. Mahalo!

Great stay.

I stayed at the Ramada for five nights while attending a conference in another (much more expensive) hotel nearby. This was perfect for me: clean, internet included, swimming pool, beach nearby, walking distance from Waikiki proper and, in general, extremely well located. Friendly staff. Its close to other big hotels and (very important) close to bus stops to head downtown and to beach outings outside Honolulu. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone not in need of the full all-inclusive experience but looking for a good, well-located alternative.

Great!

  • KIKIkiki
  • Oct 31, 2012
The Waikiki Marina Resort is a great place to stay. It is a walk down to the action but that's why I like to stay here...it's quiet and calm down at this end of the beach. You can be down in the heart of Waikiki in 10-15 minutes but are still close to restaurants and convenience stores here. The large rooms here have been recently updated so are really nice with fully equipped kitchenettes, modern baths and furniture on the lanai. I had a marina side room on the 9th floor and it was beautiful at sunset. There is a restaurant on-site but the service it mostly a hit although I had one big miss at breakfast. I won't hold that against them!

The staff was great. Very clean hotel. The hotel restaurant is seriously lacking in the way of a menu. We really could have used a hot tub on the premisses. The location is excellent, right on the marina, right next to the public lagoon, and a short walk to many other hotel bars and restaurants Overall, an outstanding experience..

get what you pay for

I stayed at this hotel for its location and very low pricing. From reviews that I have read I learned that this a hotel of individually owned properties that are rented as hotel rooms. It is hit or miss if you are going to get a wonderfully restored room or one in poor repair. I did not win the lottery. My carpet was dirty and stained, the furniture was hodge podge and my tv was dying. My biggest concern on cleanliness was when I started getting ill on day 5 of my stay. I checked the air conditioner and found the filter full and black spots around the vent that looked like mildew.

We stayed at the Waikiki Grand Hotel for four nights. The lobby looks wonderful. You have to pay for parking, which they dont tell you, its on a small handout located in the room. It is $17.99 per night, and it says that vehicles will be towed without a permit, but there was always someone in our spot for which we got the permit for. The room is very condensed. There is no TV remote, and the TV is above the bed hanging on the wall, so I had to stand on the bed to change the TV or turn up the volume or turn on/off the TV. The shower is the biggest part of the room, which is nice. We only really stayed in the room to sleep, other than that we were out and about.

Very Good Hotel

The Ala Moana has allot to to offer for the price. It is not in the heart of Waikiki but yet directly next to the Ala Moana Mall, which is an amazing place. I stayed in the Kona Tower and paid about $99 per night. The room is remodeled, clean and comfortable but there is no view or lani (balcony). For me, it was a room and cost which was good for 4 nights (I was on business). The staff is excellent, friendly and helpful if needed.

We paid a little more to stay at this hotel because of its location near the mall. We enjoy being able to eat at the different resturants and shop at our convenience. The rooms are comfortable and satisfy our needs for sleeping. The only problem was the TV system. While watching a show it would revert back to the main screen. This was a little annoying.
