Staff was super cordial, helpful, friendly, and went the extra mile to make us happy. We actually felt like family members there because the people were so friendly. The bed was terrific. I slept the best I've slept in a long time. The location was a block from the beach and the views were terrific. The food was pricey but delicious. There are less expensive options within a block. We hope to come here again.

  • Jun 9, 2012
Everything about our stay at the Aston Wakiki Beach Tower was great. We were scheduled to stay on the 29th floor, which had agreat view but were offered a penthouse on the 37th floor and it was worth the relatively small increase in the rate. Every suite has a lanai facing Wakiki beach but the higher floors will be unobstructed so the higher the better. The elevators were fast so it was not a pain. The staff is friendly and helpful. Beach towels were provided and the room has a washer and dryer, which is helpful. Furnished kitchen allows you to eat in when you want. Wakiki Beach is just across the street and all the shopping and restaurants of Wakiki are an easy walk, as well as the zoo and aquarium. Will definitely stay here again.

Can't imagine staying anywhere else!

  • 123abc123
  • Feb 27, 2012
We originally booked a different hotel and were excited about being right in the middle of Waikiki. We didn't realize how lucky we were when the original hotel overbooked and our travel company had to upgrade us to the Kahala! We were disappointed at first to be outside the city, but once we got there we decided we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The location is just BEAUTIFUL (you won't experience anything like it in Waikiki). It's peaceful, you have dolphins right outside your room, a private beach (with food/drink service that comes to you while you're relaxing in the sun), and you get treated like you're truly special. And when you're ready to go to Waikiki for shopping, food or drinks, all you have to do is hop on the shuttle - it's so easy and really isn't far at all! Also, our room was amazing! We stayed in the Dolphin Wing, and our room was huge! We were on the first floor (mountain/golf course view) so we had our own private patio, perfect for coffee in the morning. Our bathroom had double sinks, a garden tub, stand up shower, and two closets. We soaked as much of the Kahala in as we could while we were there and are already looking forward to going again in the future : )

Just steps away from the fun and frantic chaos of Waikiki Beach, the Royal Hawaiian is a soothing oasis out of the past. It's easy to imagine yourself back in 1927, in the days before cell phones and email and when the only interruption might be a letter from back home or a waiter delivering a refreshing Mai Tai as you sit in one of the big rocking chairs on the veranda facing the tranquil Royal Grove, And if you crave something a little more lively, the Sheraton Waikiki is just steps away with a younger, hipper clientele - not to mention a Peet's Coffee shop with great coffee and the freshest fruit cup imaginable for a light beach side breakfast.

  • Nov 6, 2012
The Location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. Right in the middle of axtion. And right by the beach.. We got a room at the diamond wing. they tried to move us to the tower, which has a great view if you are located on the right side. The room they upgraded! us to was not.. But we told them we didn't want that room and they moved us back to the Diamond deluxe room which we had booked to begin with. The diamond deluxe wing is an old building, and the rooms do feel a little old but the view makes it worthwhile. The do need to renovate some part of the hotel othervise the value is simply too much..

Great stay in Waikiki

  • Reviewer0
  • Dec 8, 2012
I stayed at this hotel while on trip to Waikiki Beach in Oahu. Hotel was easy to find by bus and you get dropped off right at the corner. You are welcomed with cool towels and pineapple juice. The room with double bed is a little small and the rooms are decorated in modern décor but there is some wear and tear on walls. The cleaning staff prepares your room to immaculate condition everyday. Toiletries are excellent. Major flaw is lack of minirefrigerator in room in the room. Instead you have a beverage cooler but you will probably have a lot of leftovers after eating out in Waikiki everyday. The breakfast also only consists of breads and wish it included other things like fruits or cereals. The lady who runs the breakfast bar is very friendly and helpful. And the kona coffee and pineapple juice are delicious. The location is excellent at this end of Waikiki because its a few steps walk to the beach and is close to ABC store and multiple restaurants. You can head out and walk the length of Waikiki strip and even walk to Diamond Head crater.

good hotel near beach

This was a very nice hotel near the beach. The room is nicely decorated but on closer inspection it was not perfect. A few of the fluorescent lights in the bathroom were dim. Also the automatic light controller did not seem to work correctly. Overall it was a great hotel though and we really enjoyed our time there.

From the parking and front desk staff at check-in to the parking and front desk staff at check-out, I was very happy with the stay. Courtesy is a hallmark. Room was very clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was really good!! It provided a wide choice of food items! I will definitely look at this hotel on my next trip to HNL.

the staff was great. very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a lot better than the continental ones in other hotels. the location was ok. everything was within walking distance. we shopped and walked most of the time. rented a car for a day. one thing that I was lead to believe (by this surveys agent) was that we would have a beautiful ocean view for our 30th anniversary. We paid the non refundable extra amount for the view but could see little bits of water, no beautiful sun rise or sunset.

Wouldn't change a thing.

  • Endless honeymoon
  • Nov 27, 2012
The view from our room looked like a postcard. One tower faces a beach and marina the other faces Diamond head. Try to book on the upper floors as you can to see more. The restaurants looked great though we never tried them. There was so much to try all around the hotel we got side tracked. The sand at the closer beaches was a bit coarse but the still nice. The shuttle takes you to Waikiki if you don't mind a few more people. The beach wasn't that crowded and not at all pretentious. It is a good spot. Close to restaurants bars and lots of young people who manage to be very unobtrusive. If you plan on doing any activities there is a concierge desk to take advantage of. Tasha was spot on with our bookings.

Hi - the hotel was in a great location - a block from the beach - we had great views of the ocean. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant is open 24/7 - the breakfast was great - held you for the whole day! Chairs and umbrella rentals at the beach are expensive - $5/hour each. We went to Walmart and bought some inexpensive beach chairs and a little umbrella - worked just fine and we gave it to someone else when we left. Park across the street at the Banyan if you rent a car - $72 for the week instead of $25 a night. - well worth it. Weather was perfect - 84 during the day - 70 at night and always a breeze. Loved everything about it. The ABC stores are everywhere - you can buy momentos, alcohol (we had cocktails on our balcony every night before dinner) snacks - anything you need and they are on every block. Great, great time, can't wait to go back!

Walked along the beach in the early morning. I also liked it that it was not next to another hotel on the one side. The Army Museum is on that side. From the first contact at the front desk to check out, the staff was excellent. We were upgraded for free to an Ocean View room which was nice. The staff was extremely polite and professional. Parking was free, and we were able to use beach towels, snorkel gear, rafts etc. all for free (a nice and useful touch). Also, the hotel is about 100 meters from the beach, and the surrounding shops are great. The staff even allowed us to check out a little later at no extra charge. If I go back to Waikiki, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

I'd like to give much point into their service. They gave me free champagne and room change for my honeymoon. Room was also very clean and my wife showed satisfaction about the quality. Only negative points were... shower booth was clogged and coffee pot did not work well..

Perfect for the two of us!

  • Oni1
  • Sep 23, 2012
The Aqua Lotus is quietly situated away from the busy Waikiki strip. But, you can still enjoy the strip after a short 10 min walk. It is located near the beautiful Kaimana beach, where I frequently swam as a child. The staff was friendly and helpful. The morning coffee and tea, and evening wine in the lobby was very convenient. The room was simple but elegant. The view of Diamond Head and Waikiki beach was a double whammy! The only thing that would have made our stay better was more reasonably priced eating spots nearer to the hotel. We would definitely return to the Aqua Lotus and recommend it to others.

Staff were very good. the hotel is small and people are made to feel as if they are part of a family. Great free wine for happy hour in the lobby. Free coffee in the morning, as well as a coffee maker in the room. Views are great. Diamond head and the ocean, park is across the road. Waikiki shell is in the park. lots to do and only a very short walk to the main shops. Beach is one of the best and not crowded like waikiki. I will stay in this gem of a hotel again. Favorate so far, and I come every year.

Me and my husband came here for our honeymooon! It was an amazing trip. Everything was so close and the staff was so nice and helpful. The only thing that I think that could use some improvement is the refrigrator it could have been a little colder. If I was to go back to I would stay here again. :)

Great Hotel

The room was very clean and comfortable. The concierges were did a wonderful job making arrangements for entertainment and transportation for us. The location was outstanding. Whether you wanted to walk on the beach, shop at the International Market Place or Honolulu's version of "Rodeo Drive", it was all right outside the door. In addition, they made a "Hospitality Room" available to us for 30 minutes so we could freshen up before hopping a flight at the end of our check out day. The negatives - although the rooms are advertised and include a balcony, unless you pay for a premium room on a high floor, the view is of the rooftop fans of the building next door. Also, our tours required us to leave by 7:00 a.m. or earlier. There was no where in the hotel or nearby to have breakfast that early. Overall, though, we loved the hotel.

Perfect for a honeymoon!

  • BBTT
  • Sep 26, 2012
The location of this hotel is prime! It is right in the middle of Waikiki with direct beach access. There are sea turtles in the water just off the beach and great waves too. We were able to walk to both the zoo and the aquarium as well as most of the highly reviewed restaurants in the area. We caught a local bus to Diamond head as well as Pearl Harbor. The shopping district outside the hotel is very high end, but there are some affordable venues as well. Make sure to get the hotel package with breakfast included...it is wonderful! Lots of fresh fruit, made to order omelets and pancakes/french toast as well as local dishes. Also, we splurged on the ocean front view...well worth it! The diamond head view would have also been good and would most likely include a view of the ocean from most rooms as well.

pleasantly surprised

  • Best Birthday
  • Dec 21, 2012
Well by some of the reviews we read, we were expecting below average. And with some of the comments I heard about the place from locals, seemed negative. But they must of done some changes, because we found it just right. We don't like fancy but must be clean. The gym and pool were better than most. It was a short and beautiful walk through the park to get to beach. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I think I would have liked is a hot plate or microwave. They had towels for the beach. And we really appreciated that even after we checked out they let us use all the amenities and stored our luggage and had a lounge, tv and showers we could use while we waited for our plane. We also went to check out one of the other places that was listed for a little bit cheaper (it was the tower one) And boy was I glad we stayed where we stayed. That other one looked dirty and dark and cement like, very unpleasant. Well at least from the lobby.

Pleasant surprise

I was completely surprised by this hotel. Check-in was fast. The room looked just like the photograph. It was clean, the kitchen was stocked with whatever materials I would need to cook a meal, if need be. The view of the ocean and city, from the tenth floor was amazing. I'm big on cleanliness and I can say the bathroom definitely passed my standards. The staff came by daily to clean and had no issue taking request. The pool was small, but I didn't come here for that. It's only a 10 minute walk (if that) to the beach. Right outside of the hotel is Protea, a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch only. Take in or grab something to go. Parking was $25 a night ouch, but my boyfriend was able to leave iPods in the car and not worry. The location was great! Both malls on either side. Restaurants. Night life. Best thing...can't here a thing in the room! I'm DEFINITELY staying there again!

This hotel was perfect for the kind of tight budget vacation my boyfriend and I were looking for. The amenities included complimentary lemonade, tea, a pool, and to our pleasant surprise, a jacuzzi, just to name a few. There wasn't anything particularly special about this hotel, but everything was just a short walk away!

Waikiki Beach Condo

  • Tom Saint Charles
  • Dec 26, 2012
This was a business trip and the condo was perfect for what I needed. There was only a small issue of getting signed in after 6:00 p.m., but that was resolved and I ended up with a nicer room with a better view of Waikiki than I had expected. This would also be a practical and inexpensive condo for tourists as it is in a convenient location for restaurants and only about three blocks to the beach.
