The Hilltop Legacy at the highest spot in town that allows you to look down on beautiful Hilo Bay. You will enjoy the privacy of the peaceful Hilltop Retreat, a pair of over one hundred years old Bansai trees, koi pond, and the legendary Legacy Stone over 2500 lbs. Walk down through the historical Haili street where you will find museums, grocery stores and shops. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Ideal Picturesque Base for Romantically Active Adventure

Located ideally along the lush Kona Coast, this hotel is a perfect starting and ending point to explore Paradise's picturesque coastline and volcanoes. Town, access to Hawaii's only highway, and other conveniences are close by. The Outrigger is adjacent to one of the best snorkeling areas on this vast island for an out-of-the-room-right-into-the-water experience. Tide pools, historic ruins, tennis courts, tropical gardens, and seaside eateries form the perimeter of this resort. Their included breakfast is deliciously prepared and diverse in a protected but open-to-the-air dining environment shared with tropical birds. Check-in and check-out are cordially facilitated by well-selected and well-trained knowledgeable staff, who can provide you with valuable and accurate "insider and local" tips on how to maximize your dream vacation. Although this hotel is not plush; and sound from fellow tourists sometimes travels across the wall separating rooms, we would return in a heartbeat for the place, the people, and their gorgeous sunsets!

Very comfortable bed and breakfast. Room was spotless and had a stunning ocean view. No restaurants nearby, so be prepared to drive to Hilo for dinner. Wake up to an amazing breakfast cooked by the owner and shared overlooking the sunrise over the ocean. Good launch point for seeing the volcanoes to the south or the Waipio valley to the north.

Excellent hotel for families

We stayed here in Jan 2012 for the first time. It really is a wonderful hotel for families. With the tram "train", the boat ride along the canal, the flamingoes, parrots, dolphins and nenes--it really has a lot to offer families with young children. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean--nothing fabulous or super stylish-but they were comfortable. As many people have said--the food is good overall--and comparable to the prices you see at resorts on HI these days. The service was very good wherever we went--employees were friendly and plentiful.
I have to comment that the pools were all really cold however--too cold for a resort in my opinion (they are not heated). But the pumped in ocean water to the lagoon was nice--and calm and filled with turtles, fish and wonderfully calm snorkeling/ kayaking/ and paddle boats which was great for beginners (young kids). We will certainly go back--for the dolphins, the train rides and the amazing grounds to explore. Bring a wet suit for the pool.

We had a fantastic stay! Eight wonderful days- This is the best resort on the big island for kids. From being able to take a boat around the resort, the dolphins, waterslides, to the little details- this resort is a gem- perfect place for kids (and their parents alike!). The customer service is outstanding. Tip- valet is only $6 more than self park, well worth it! The staff treats you like royalty, and the sense of Aloha permeates this resort.

Friendly staff, nice landscaping, best beaches just a couple of miles down the hill, spacious rooms, convenient to grocery. Ocean view in distance and golf course view in rear of room. Quiet and extra clean. Affordable, better than other resorts in area. Waikola area has much better beaches than Kona with less congestion. I cannot wait to return to Paniola Greens soon. During our holidays this place was the perfect one whenever we think of a calm place to rest after a tired day of visiting all the interesting places on a Big Island.
Really calm place with everything you'd need.. Of course, this is not a usual hotel - it's much closer to a 'holiday house' - and if this is what you're looking for, you'd be glad as I was.

Wonderful, clean place. Very well furnished. Minimal ammenities. Pool was nice - but not heated. Stuck my foot in, but went no further. No dining option other than pool bar, but other hotels with restaurants are nearby. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all - this is it. Very private residence, but close to restaurants and shopping when you want it.

We stayed in a 3 bdrm unit (7G) and it was spacious, immaculate and very well maintained. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedding was comfortable, the AC was silent, there were some beach towels and fins for our use in the laundry room.
The grounds were beautiful and maintained by a very friendly ground crew that smile and wave whenever they see you.
The pool is really fun and on a spectacular location with a fabulous view. They have towels available for the guests and a bar that serves food. We didn't eat anything there at the resturant but we did take advantage of the grill and tables located poolside to grill up dinner a couple of times. The orientation of the pool area is perfect for watching the sunset.

Nice beach. The hotel rooms were almost full however it was not so noisy or crazy busy as we expected. We could spent a peaceful 4 nights and at the beach. They might need 2nd dining again in a future... We would love to go back to this Marriott soon.

The hotel offered lots of amenities in a casual and elegant atmosphere. Staff was always friendly. My only complaint was the bathroom exhaust fan. It was anemic to the point of being useless. Building maintenance crew said they fixed it, but it was still anemic.

We stayed last week of Dec 2011 in unit 9E. The condo is in a perfect location. It is literally on A-Bay beach and next to 2 shopping malls and many restaurants. The unit is nicely furnished and we love the convenience of the kitchen and the washer/dryer. The only complaint is that the pool is not heated and everyone entering the pool complained about how cold the water is. Also there is only one pool and hot tub on the property and it gets crowded. My unit was managed by Outrigger Condo and I am surprised that there is no daily housekeeping service. I was told that housekeeping would come every 7 days! So you need to make your own bed and clean up after yourself.

Kolea is beyond expectation. The grounds are impeccable. Our arrival couldn't have been better. Everything was sent to us in advance and there were no hiccups anywhere. The condo we stayed at, Kolea 11F, was decorated and furnished beautifully and everything, including spices, hair dryer, and even a waffle iron were there. They had boogie boards and a fishing pole for us as well. Seriously, this place rocked. A-Bay was fabulous. Best sunsets we have ever seen. Lounge chairs down there to sit on were great as well and water was warm and gorgeous. We have decided to come again next year and will probably always come back. This condo was exactly what we were hoping for in paradise.

Everything was made easy except finding the office which is located in the shopping mall nearby. We asked to be moved from second floor to third floor after first night due to noisy neighbors above and lack of insulation between floors. I would stay here again but only on a top floor unit. The staff did a great job!

We stayed in Condo #201 for 19 nights. The place was spacious, clean, all the amenities that you need for a long stay. Bathroom was huge- great shower. Great Lanai- for hanging out after dark. The Shores were quiet and relaxing. The pool was small- but perfect for our needs. The hot tub was great when it was working - broke down for the second half of our trip. Beds were comfortable and clean. The staff was fantastic. Super friendly and worked hard to take care of everything we needed. Fitness center was clean and had everything we needed. Location was ideal for walking to A-bay beach or hanging out over at the Hilton. Walking distance to Queens and Kings Market place- with everything that you would need. Great jogging every morning around the Waikoloa resort area. It's a hike to most things on the Big Island- but the Shores are close to Waimea and Kona and you definitely need a car if your planning on visiting other sights on the island. Would definitely do the Shores again and recommend them for anyone that wants a nice relaxing vacation in Paradise.

Description
We are located at the end of Haunani Road, thus our name. We built our home on 6.5 acres of rainforest pasture land in 1989,just a baby compared to the historic homes here in the village but it has settled into its own niche since then. We are sure the peace and tranquility that we enjoy will be yours too. If its activity you desire, the nearby Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offers opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring. There is also the Volcano Art Gallery and the Jaggar Museum to visit. There are great nearby restaurants from which you can choose. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Access to Volcanoes National Park is easy and the staff were great to deal with. The room was well worth the price and the bathroom was clean. Other guests were very considerate and our stay was very comfortable. Watch your head on the way down the stairs as both my wife and I cut our heads on the low ceiling. Don't expect too much from the "full kitchen" as there are not allot of utensils to be able to cook with, and there are no staples (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, spices etc...) There are some very good restaurants close by though!

The Hale Volcano house, which is part of the Chalet Kilauea Collection of quasi-B&B lodgings, is charming, quaint, rustic, and very quiet--all good qualities to this reviewer. We had one of six rooms in the nearly-100-year-old house. There is a full kitchen, lots of open space, board games, TV, fireplace (Volcano is up high, and gets cool at night). The bed was comfortable, albeit a bit bouncy and the springs creaked a little. The downstairs, shared bathroom was large and well appointed. A very nice place to stay--and about five minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entrance. There are very few eating establishments near by, and they are adequate, but not sophisticated.
