This hotel is 10-15 minutes from the historic section and beach but close to the malls. It was perfect for what we needed and very affordable. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We arrived on Thursday, May 17,2012 and checked in this was a good experience the lady at the front desk was very nice. On Friday the supposedly cleaning staff came to the room and only did the bare minimum to our room, they never made up the beds nor vacuum the room. They sprayed Febreeze in the room and dry wiped the bath tub, they did put out new towels and that all. I would stay again but I will; stress that they get more people that are knowledgeable about cleaning hotel, not an older couple like they had.

Location is great. Walking distance a mile or less to historic squares and river shops. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, clean bathrooms, but those h2o conservation showers heads are not my style, breakfast is good and staff are courteous and informative.

Quick One Day in Savannah

The Courtyard was very nice and we were able to get a very good rate. The visitor center was across the street and we took a tour trolley from there. It's a long walk to the riverfront and city market areas but not undoable. There are many hotels closer to the action but they were far more expense. Much better than being outside the historic district.
My only gripe: No fridge, microwave or free breakfast. I get that if you have a full service restaurant you don't want to compete with it but they have a pantry in which they sell microwavable meals but you have to wave them in the pantry - silly really. But - Savannah has so many great resaurants it's a shame to eat in your hotel room :)
The only other negative was that due to the traffic in Savannah when we were checking out (midday on a Saturday) it took them an hour to get our car from the garage - just a heads up for planning purposes.
Overall I would stay there again if the price was right.

Location was great, price was right for a 3 star hotel. Valet parking was a little crowed at check in time, so wait a little while before checking in. Room was great, but the bed was too soft. Breakfast was great. Overall we were pleased with the stay and will stay again in the future.

Everyone at the front desk was not just pleasant but eager to talk about things to do in Savannah. I can't imagine a more perfect location if you want to be where the action is. The view from the roof was gorgeous. The downside was a noisy ventilation system and slow valet service.

Great location for exploring historic Savannah. Clean rooms and nice to have the small kitchen. Breakfast was ok. The coffee was great. A little noisy from the bar across the street corner from the hotel. Our room key did not work for the first day and half. We kept having to go back to the front desk to have it reset. Also the lobby elevator was not working. However the staff was great. Very helpful and friendly.

Not a hotel...even though it looks that way on the internet

This is not a hotel...it is a time share. You park in a public parking lot below the structure. Then you take an elevator to the street level, then exit to an alley, make a left then find the entry door. Registration is on the 7th floor. You will be asked if you "want daily room cleaning"????? This is not a cheap experience and that question seemed totally strange. Well once you start asking questions you find out that it is not a hotel but instead a time share condominium. We asked for room care but did NOT get it the first day...nothing. The second day they worked on the room and took all of the used towels...but FAILED to put clean towels in the second bathroom. I felt like I did not receive the type of service or amenities that $600 a day should afford.

This hotel is in a great location on Ellis square. Very close to city market, River street, and Bay Street. Lots of restaurants and shops within one or two blocks walking distance.
We had a wonderful two bedroom suite with city views. The only negative is the wall of windows have no blinds or drapes, so when the sun raises you do too.

Walking distance to all of historic downtown. Rooms are up to date. The bathrooms show a little wear, but everything was clean. Pillows are pitiful, so make sure you ask for an extra. But overall, I would stay there again. The week night is a great rate for the location!

This hotel was nice overall and I have a great trip. Pretty friendly staff and nice rooms. The walk to the strip wasn't more than a few blocks away which only took a few minutes. The downside of the hotel is the valet parking which is the only parking available for the hotel. Keep in mind, the additional $20 for the parking plus tip is on top of the original hotel price.

The outside of it is not really impressive, but the inside is awesome. The rooms are spacious and are better than some of the more expensive chains I have stayed at. The bathroom was especially impressive. Very large. Appreciated the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Staff helpful.

close to the fun part of town . Some staff members could be a little more understanding , we were denied a late checkout for no apparent reason , the hotel was not even booked for the weekend and they wouldn't budge on working with us the price to stay a few more days.

The price seemed too good. Only $100.00 a week night. Then I was told that there is a non-refundable $50.00 fee for having a pet in the room. Come on now, for a 20 pound Sheltie! They would not cancel the booking so I was forced to pay up!

staff was friendly. brought fresh popped popcorn to room and an extra towel w/in 15 minutes of checking in. arrived early for event and they let us park there so we could walk to River st. using the parking pass they would have given us at check in. that was great! Lemonade in lobby was a welcome sight after getting back from the walk in Savannah. only complaint was no microwave,no pool. A/c worked,but was really cold on person by unit and took a while to reach other side of room.

[...] 1) we had requested adjoining rooms early on and the hotel said they didn't have any yet in the other room next to ours there was an adjoining door to the next room 2) arriving at the hotel and checking in we asked where the malls and shopping were located and the front desk lady pointed to the brochures and walked away never offering to assist us 3) when we went back and asked for a map she did give us one but never marked on it where we were presently or what route we would take to get to what we were looking for. We truly seemed like we were bothering her. The directions and friendliness of the day staff was terrible. However, later in the evening the gentleman working the front desk gave great walking directions when we inquired about a location we wished to visit and evening secrity guard was friendly.4) the breakfast left a lot to be desired. Overall the hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. I would stay there again but I would know where I was going and what I planned to visit.

Wonderful, caring staff, awesome breakfast, and beds were very comfortable. However, the location wasn't the best, its across from the ghetto, and getting to River Street meant walking down a dark, deserted alley, and this turned out to be an unpleasant experience, as we got hassled by a small group, but other than that, the hotel itself was wonderful.

We were pleasantly surprised with how nice this historical was. We expected a run down old building etc. We found a lovely old place with the best view in town and very friendly employees. The location was the best! Our only problem was a plumbing issue that took some time to correct early in the morning.. The maintance superintenet was efficient in knowing what to do and was in and out of our room in less than 30 minutes.

I did not care for the hotel. The room did not smell to fresh. It took about an hour to get checked in. On top of that the person doing the checking in was not friendly. This is the second time I have stayed there, the breakfast has went down. They should really consider breakfast the old way.

Price was Cheap. The Lobby was totally re done. Breakfast wasn't great, so we just go brunch. Room was decent. Not Horrible. Clean and it was somewhere to sleep. I'd recommend it if you just want somewhere to sleep and you want value.

We really enjoyed staying at Avia and couldn't think of a better place to stay while we were in Savannah. The hotel staff was excellent from check-in to check-out. This includes everyone from the front desk, service staff, concierge, bartenders, door men, etc. The hotel is perfectly situated for you to walk to shops, head on down to River street, explore old mansions and walking distances to great restaurants and nightlife. We really enjoyed the pool as well during our time there especially since it was unseasonably warm. Hotel Avia is well worth the money and delivers great value.

The rooms were adequate; nothing special, or especially nice. My one big complaint was the HGUGE crack between the door and door frame! It made the room musty, especially since it rained our whole trip. We wound up stuffing towels in the space. The complimentary breakfast was what helped with our decision to book here, and though it wasnt the tastiest, there was enough variety to keep us happy for a couple days. The location wasnt bad - 15 mins from downtown, & all you need to do is drive straight down Abercorn! Tybee Island's beach was about 20 mins away - we didnt mind the small dive, because we saved so much booking with this hotel.

My goal was to find a cheaper hotel that was some what close to downtown Savannah. This one was perfect. Not a five star but definitely a place to rest your head for a low cost. Close to grocery stores and a few shops.

It was a great location for what I wanted to do, a good price but I didn't like I had to take my own linen to the front desk to get new ones (there was a sign in the room telling you that if you're not staying for 7 days they don't clean everyday) or dump my own trash. If had a old smell but the employees was very nice and helpful.

The hotel was very clean, very comfortable. The breakfast is great, and it's on SAV property. Plus, Sam Snead's is just next door and great for dinner. The staff was ok - not terribly friendly, and it took 5 minutes for the phone to be answered at night when I wanted to make my wake up call. But I don't need much in terms of customer service, and for a business trip, I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was close to downtown and Tybee Island, but it stunk like urine an dbleach and the carpet was wet. The bathroom was not safe to take a shower in. Wear flip flops. Since cops were always in the parking lot, I will assume that we were not in a safe place.

I booked for price only... the location was not bad, just rando for what we wanted. Being out so far actually discouraged us from visiting the beach on our second day. There were only half used rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom, an open bottle of shampoo/conditioner, and an open bar soap. There were no box of tissues and no garbage can in the bathroom. I don't regret saving money, but if I could have cancelled (I booked the same night I checked in), I would have gone to a more expensive (and normal) hotel. Plus, they charged me for the room twice, so that didn't help my spirit while trying to enjoy my stay.
