Pros: Good overall experience. Clean room, great location. Nice complementary wine hour in lobby, Offered us free room upgrade. Comp bottle of champagne for our anniversary.
Cons: Staff delivered wrong luggage in beginning but sorted it out. Be prepared for $36.00/night parking fee. Staff did not deliver anniversary gift to room which I had informed as well as sent to hotel prior to arrival . Had to inquire twice and they finally found it 12 hours later. They did apologize.

Super new addition to South Beach lineup
- chicagosurfer
- Dec 17, 2012
Spent last weekend here, just 6 weeks after the property's opening. Rooms and common areas are beautifully designed, great combination of modern and Art Deco. Some really cool modern art in particular, I loved the beautifully flowing wooden clothes peg based sculpture next to the elevators!
Great location at the heart of South Beach. The hotels' bar scene isn't yet as hopping as places like the Delano and SLS, but they're just a couple of blocks away, and there's something to be said for having a hotel that's an oasis of calm to return to.
Loved having a Nespresso machine plus a bunch of capsules in the room, helped get the morning off to a good start after having a few more cocktails than usual the night before...
Staff was all super friendly and welcoming to us. Hooked us up with a very nice baby sitter to look after the little guy while we were out in the evening.

Just got back from Miami and stayed here for the first time. Some of the rooms do not have the best view as any other hotel. Location was PERFECT!! Everything was walkiing distance and the outside area at night was great for relaxing. The rooms itself were nothing really fancy, i could hear everything happening next door. The guy Will that checked us in was EXTREMELY helpful in making sure we were takin care of, for the price it was not bad!

Beautiful facility, great location

What a great building and location. Just be aware that this is not a hotel. It is a condo building that rents its condos. No in building restaurant, bar, etc. Only small issue was the complimentary breakfast was not very good. Very limited quantities and selection. When they ran out of an item (packaged oatmeal, bread or milk) you were out of luck.
Beyond this issue it was a fantastic location with a clean, roomy, higher end condo with a full kitchen, large bathroom, separated bedroom and living room. I would definitely stay here again.

The Boulan is a nice, swanky hotel.... great decor, comfortable, friendly staff. Location was ok, if you wanted to be away from all the noisy activity but walking distance to the action. I liked that its a condo building, because the rooms are set up like an apartment.
Here's what I liked:
--private, quiet, ultra trendy/swanky
--friendly front desk
--apartment set up
--deluxe room very spacious
--close to the beach (1 block away)
--beach umbrellas & chairs included in the hotel price
--no resort fees... $75 hold is refundable
--$15 parking per day (hated that is was cash only)
--bed was comfortable, full cable, on demand & ipod/computer connection... and FREE wi-fi that actually worked!
Here's what I didn't quite like:
--Front desk service requests not too prompt... drawback of condo vs hotel
--While the rooms are swanky & ultra modern, needs to be dusted & wiped down regularly... ie mirrors, patio furniture, leather couch, table & countertops dirty/dusty. Because of the decor, its not visible when you first get there, but up close, doesn't look like its dusted regularly. I wiped it down alittle bit myself, so it wasn't a huge deal.
--nit picking, but shower was beautiful and felt good... but nowhere to put your shower products, wash towel except on the ledge near the floor.
--wish there was a restaurant on the premises... another drawback of a condo vs traditional hotel.
--parking was cheap but it was cash only each time you moved your car. If you don't plan on moving your car too much, this is the best deal in South Beach.
--wish the pool was open later in the evening.
Personally, I like to lounge by the pool later in the evening or at night when its not too hot.
--property was located near the corner... apparently, people urinate in the corner nook, that was a bit annoying also.
Overall, I enjoyed it... but since its considered 4/5 star, thought it would be helpful to the hotel & visitors on what could be improved. I would definitely stay here again... hopefully some of the items I mentioned will be considered & improved.

Girls' Weekend
-
Boston Traveling Girl
- May 14, 2012
Recently spent a long weekend at the Viceroy in Miami for a relaxing girls' getaway.
The hotel is beautifully decorated. Our room was ready upon check-in and was as beautifully decorated as the rest of the hotel. Staff at the front desk was helpful and courteous. One minor note on the room - there is an open wall to the bathroom with just decorative wood trellis. The shower has a glass door. If you're modest, beware! Everyone in the room can see you showering.
The pool up on the 15th floor is spectacularly enormous. Since it was a Friday morning, we were able to find seats easily. We were unable to figure out where to find towels and it took quite a while to figure out. More signs or more staff available to greet hotel guests and help them find seats would be a nice touch. Being that this property includes residences as well as the hotel, there seemed to be a lack of service at the pool. I felt at times, we were missing out on that resort experience. We ordered drinks and food. Everything was good but the service was a bit slow and when we asked for a 2nd round of water with our cocktails, we didn't get. Again, I think being so intertwined with the residences, that resort feel is just missing....it seemed you were kind of hanging out at someone's apartment building.
We made the mistake of not studying the map before booking so it was a bit disappointing to discover how far we were from South Beach. $20 cab fare each way. There is no beach within walking distance of the Viceroy with the exception of the Mandarin Oriental - unfortunately, you must be a guest there in order to use the beach.
We ate at the Epic Hotel across the river - it was very good. We also had dinner at Rosa Mexicana in Brickell Village - great mexican food. The nightlife on a Sunday in the village was slow. We were hoping for a bit more of a scene and again, this particular area seems to lack the same amount of tourism that South Beach attracts. Some people are probably happy with the quieter area.
We asked our Concierge on Saturday morning if he could try and help us with getting into Liv that night. He promised to call his connection to see what he could do and would leave us a message in our room. When we got back from the beach that day, it was disappointing that he never bothered to call back. On the plus side, we had dinner in FountaineBleu and were able to get into Liv that night.
Last notes - we were given a hard time at the towel stand on two days. Once they almost wouldn't give them to us - two girls asking for just two towles. They explained they ran short the day before...mabye because we heard other people asking for EIGHT towels. When the service at the pool is already spotty, it leaves a bad taste when you're given a hard time with towels.
The SPA - amazing! We both had facials and massages. Everyone working in the spa is wonderful. the services were wonderful. The facility is beautiful. Can't say enough good about the spa! Highly recommend!
Overall, a great destination for a girls' weekend. Only wished it were a little closer to the action of South Beach. And more of a scene at the pool - so that we didn't feel that we were crashing a residential pool. I don't know how they'd fix that being that there seem to be a LOT of residents using the facility.

Wonderful Long weekend
-
LCoston
- Oct 9, 2011
My partner and I had a 3 night stay at this hotel and we were in the lap of luxury from the moment we stepped in the lobby. We did not rent a car and were comfortable with cabs to all great surrounding areas (Coral Gables, SOBE). We ate at the breakfast buffett and outside at the pool bar and were happy with all the service and the food. The hotel is wonderful and the window seats are sooo cute. We will stay at the four seasons again!

Nice but valet parking excessively price
-
Anonymous
- Jan 21, 2011
Very nice hotel, reasonably price and friendly. However, the valet parking was excessively over priced, even for downtown Miami, and subpar. Despite calling ahead, had to wait 10-15 minutes beyond what I was told and it wasn't busy. Recommend finding alternative parking close by...or find another preminum hotel.

Beautiful hotel, shame about the noise and the extra costs!!!
-
Firefly51
- Feb 19, 2012
We stayed in a deluxe veranda room, which had a large balcony with 2 sun loungers overlooking the bay towards downtown Miami. It was a stunning view. The bed was large and comfortable, spotlessly clean room. The bathroom was missing a wall next to the bath so you could watch tv but had a blind that could be pulled down for privacy and the toilet was in its own room. The room felt expensive and it was worth the money.
We booked through this website, who hadn't stated that there would be an extra $70 per night tax charge. Internet was $35 for 3 days. I was charged an additional $10 for having a package delivered. The a la carte breakfast menu worked out at $90 for 2 people as every little thing was charged as extra. Dinner in Azul was nothing special but came with a very special price tag of $220 for 2, we only had 1 cocktail each and a starter and a main!!!!
We had breakfast and other meals outside the hotel for the rest of our stay. The hotel makes as much money as possible from you.
The only problem I had with this hotel other then the additional costs was the noise. The 2nd night we were woken at 6am by hammering, by 6.30am I couldn't take it any longer and called reception. They said they would get it stopped, it did for 10 mins and then started up again. Another call, another stop for 10mins then restart again. We went down to reception and found the front door covered in a big black cloth with no work men. We assumed the front door was damaged and they were fixing it and that was what all the noise was about. 3rd night 6.30am the hammering starts again. A very angry call to reception it stops and then restarts again just quieter. No work was done when guests were actually around in the lobby only when they were trying to sleep and the lobby was empty. A major complaint to the manager and all we got was $90 off our bill of $2630 as compensation, big deal!!! What about my lack of sleep when I was on holiday???
When we left we asked the bell boy what had actually been going on and he said the door wasn't broken they were replacing the carpet for tiles in the hallway. So the manager decided that rather then make noise when guests were in the lobby they would make noise when guests were sleeping. I am so angry that I was paying that much money per night to have my sleep broken for something that did not need to be done and could have been done during normal working hours. Mandarin Oriental you have your priorities seriously wrong!!! Guests stay in rooms to sleep not to admire your lobby area.

We had a less than perfect stay on our prior stay, but hotel management more than made up for it this trip. We were upgraded to a Jr Suite and the hotel provided complimentary snacks on our second night. The hotel is perfectly located on the edge of downtown and near Mary Brickell Village and minutes from the Beach, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables along the MIamia River. Gorgeous views of the river and Biscayne Bay. While the self parking requires a lengthy walk, it is all indoors and secure. Also, easy access directly off I-95.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and neat. I enjoyed the bed.... the king size bed was very comfortable and soft. Room service was very pleasant and respectful. The view of my room wasn't what I expected. There was constructing going on but it wasn't nosy. Once I arrive at the hotel the fire alarm were being tested. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay at this hotel again. Friendly people!! Also, if you want to go shopping at Lincoln Mall St its just mins away from the hotel. The airport pickup shuttle was a bit slow in showing up, but otherwise this turned out to be a pleasant and comfortable overnight stay.

The hotel is well located close to the Mall and railway station.
Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.
The bar is the poorest part of the hotel no coffee and sometimes no staff behind the bar.

As a single woman, the convenience of having different eateries nearby; supermarket for reasonably priced bottled water just a block away; and the close proximity of the Mall was a huge plus!!
I was pleasantly surprised with the fantastic dinner I had at the hotel's restaurant. Fabulous presentation and great service.
I will definitely return.
