Jacksonville is situated on the Atlantic coast of northeast
Florida. The metropolitan area extends beyond Duval County into Nassau, St.
Johns, Baker and Clay counties. Jacksonville has a thriving beach culture, but
not as packed or as crowded as the beaches in south Florida.
The Jacksonville Landing, located downtown on the north bank
of the St. Johns River, is Jacksonville's festival gathering place. This retail
and entertainment center has as its attractions waterfront dining, nightclubs
and unique shops all in an urban, maritime setting. This is a prime location
for holiday celebrations and viewing downtown fireworks. During the Christmas
season, the Landing is also the site of the largest Christmas tree in northeast
Florida.
Riverside, located about a mile southwest of downtown on the
banks of the St. Johns River, was built primarily between 1910 and 1930 and
features a variety of historic homes, churches and apartment buildings. Its
commercial center, Five Points, features both unique retail and dining all in a
bohemian atmosphere.
Also notable in the neighborhood is Memorial Park which is
situated near Five Points adjacent to the River. The nearby park was designed
by Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr. and has as its centerpiece a statue of Winged
Victory as a memorial to the dead of World War I. To visit this area from
downtown, take Jefferson Street which becomes Riverside Avenue.

The lady at the front desk was super nice. Her dry yet professional personality cracked me up! Very good location close to lots of shopping and fun at the end of the night! Waffles at breakfast normal, but so good after a late night.

The hotel was close to the airport which was great!For the price you really can't expect too much. The hotel is outdated and could use upgrades, but then the price would go up... but overall was clean.

Pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness & cleanliness of the room. We arrived at 10:30 PM, tired & hoping for a decent hotel & room. We were checked in within 5 minutes & off to the room. The parking was well lit and the motel & room appeared newly remodeled-very clean! Several nice restaurants within walking distance. Very good free buffet breakfast which saved the two of us around $15.00 at a restaurant. Nice pool & hot tub, & exercise room with up to date equipment. I was so impressed with the value & quality of the hotel that I will make it a point to find another Wyndham hotel for my next stay. I will definitely stay at this same hotel the next time I'm in the Jacksonville area! They also have a shuttle bus leaving every 1/2 hour during the day to the Mayo Clinic Med Center which is just 5 minutes away.

The hotel was great value for the price. The pool and hot-tub were a welcome feature at the end of a day of job and house-hunting. The location is great for getting around on the east and south sides of Jacksonville. The staff was extremely friendly, professional and helpful.

We had a great stay at this La Quinta. The staff was very helpful, the accomodations exceeded our expectations and for us, the location was ideal. The room was quiet and there is a good restaurant (Cracker Barrel) within walking distance of the hotel. We also appreciated the fact that this is a pet friendly hotel.

For those doing business in downtown Jax - and without car, or ability to get rent-a-car (either due to limited day of stay or no international or Florida driver license or a US state license) better to have your meet near the airport. Otherwise, getting around will be expensive by taxi. From the airport to the hotel is $30 by shuttle or close to $80 by taxi. Otherwise, the hiotel by itself provides a wonderful experience. But you will not spend your time in a hotel so moving around should be a ocnsideration.,

Pretty good place. Clean with a kitchenette. Beds are hard/stiff. When i was there there was a train that came by at 3:00ish AM every day and blasted it's horn. Close to the harbor/boardwalk which is pretty cool for a morning run or nite walk.
The beds were the biggest complaint but many people prefer stiff beds.

New and very clean. I had a problem with my room and the staff quickly switched me to another room in minutes with no problems. I paid a total of $100 for the room which was a deal given the quality of the facility.

The Super 8 was more or less what I expected from a Super 8 - basic, comfortable, no frills. I wish I'd done a little more research regarding the exact location of this Super 8 (there are several throughout Jacksonville) since it was closer to the city than I'd have liked and further from my areas of interest. A simple Google search would have worked in my favor. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the desk to housekeeping. When I arrived at 11p, it took 3 rooms before the desk clerk was able to find one without a problem - but he was quite courteous throughout and apologized multiple times.

The room was clean and average in my experience. The main complaint I had was with the bathroom. It had a strong musty odor which I assume was originating from the rubber mat in the bathtub. It had apparently not been removed for cleaning underneath for some time. When I lifted it, it had a gummy substance adhering it to the tub. I would not have taken a bath in the tub, only showered. Also the security chain on the outside door was broken, but the deadbolt was sufficient. Desk service was friendly and helpful.

The staff was very friendly. We even got a call a short time after we got to the room asking if everything was satisfactory. I don't remember that at any hotels we've stayed at recently. Hot breakfast with tasty choices. Very nice. We will consider this location again!

The hotel was perfect location wise for an early airport shuttle; one desk clerk said call ten minutes before you need the shuttle to arrive, then when we called, they said that they don't call the shuttle until you are in the lobby (they should get the story straight!) But desk clerks were very nice and helpful. Only problem was no elevator and we were on a 2nd floor (I had just pulled my back and this was a little bit difficult for me, but tolerable - and I did want a street level room). The refrigerator in the room was very spacious but we did not use/need; also it made a lot of noise so we unplugged it. The lighting over the sink/dressing area outside the bathroom was in need of a new bulb. The King bed was comfy. The entire room was very clean and the TV worked great; lots of channels to choose from. There is a large mall just two streets away - movie theater, restaurants - plenty to do. We will definitely stay here again given the proximity and convenience to the airport.

Jacksonville football game makes it impossible to get to the hotel. Staff not helpful trying to navigate around the street closures. First room was not cleaned. The hotel did offer to upgrade me to a water view. go figure? I was there for one night. Restaurant was good. Staff was great. Offered to print my document.
Overall after all of the changes, it was great

NICE, especially for $109 per night in downtown. Everyone was super friendly. The service was spectacular. They went above and beyond with great service always offering free cold water when we waited outside for anything. Pool area was great, but the drinks were pretty week and spendy. The manager for the bar was awesome and a great guy who really gave great service. I wont stay anywhere else.

I was there playing golf and I was looking for a cheap hotel without being in the hood. For the the nightly rate of 32 a night it was an excellent deal clean comfortable bed and a kitchen. In a nice area and easy access to the main highways. I will stay there again when I come back. LB of DC

the roon was dirty, the kitchen floor actually had a tennis shoe footprint on the floor in dirt...kitchen bathroon floor filthy, sink didnt drain...noise from another room kept us awake two nights, we complained and it was not taken care of and desk person had a bad attitude...i called again and after letting the phone ring 14 times, the girl picked it up and instead of answering hung up in my face.,, i called after 11pm and got another person on the desk who seemed interested in helping and noise stopped...noise sounded like constant walking, dragging furniture around, slamming closet doors, etc....my daughter was on elevator and another guest mentioned that she smelled pot in the elevator all the time and it was worse in the stairwells....two of the maids got into an argument in the hallway and were using the "f" work and the "s" word very loud....

A solid riverside stay

I had a very good overall experience at this Crowne Plaza Hotel. The room was clean, apart from a small stain on one of the blankets. Space was limited around my "work area" (i.e. the table where my laptop was situated) but this was a 2 bed unit and I suspect there would be more space for the office chair to maneuver in single bed room. We did have an incident with the toilet overflowing which flooded the bathroom, but staff was very responsive and got the problem under control promptly. I believe all units have balcony access which was great for fresh air and lounging without having to leave the room. The fitness room and pool were adequate, and nice to have at our convenience. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, located on the main level, was an excellent dinner treat. There was also a solid bar and cafe area downstairs, with an excellent breakfast buffet. The location is decent... on the river, and a short walk across the bridge to the Landing (good place for drinks and dining). But downtown Jacksonville has little else to offer, and some of the surrounding areas seem downright dangerous. Front desk staff was courteous and helpful when called upon. All in all, I would be happy to return here.

The staff were excellent! I found the bed to be hard and uncomfortable. The room was clean (even though the closet door was of the track and standing up next to the closet) and the view of the river was great.

Having stayed at the Microtel Inn & Suites on Airport Dr. in Jacksonville many times, I feel quite justified in saying that this hotel meets the needs of budgeting travellers perfectly. It is economical, clean, and close to the airport. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I will be very happy to stay there again!

Do not get me wrong a lot of staff were very good.
However, one individual ruined my experience by screwing up both of my wake up calls to create a lot of problems for me.
Every one else was fine, but you are only as good as your weakest link!

Nice property, clean and convinent to I-95. [...] the front desk attendant was more than helpful. This was my first time at this hotel ,but I was told the breakfast buffet from last year was more accomidating than the menu they have presently. Overall I was pleased with my stay.

The room was very nice for a long stay type hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The problems were the floor was in need of a good cleaning (carpet), and cockroaches in room. After extending my stay by one day AND informing the front desk of this, I got back to my room that night after the front desk closed (by two minutes)to find I was locked out of my room. I just stood in the parking lot and cried. I was so tired and stressed and all I wanted was to get to my insulin (which was locked inside) and go to sleep. The front desk had 2 days to have me bring in my code key but never bothered to tell me this was necessary. I told them at check in that we would be staying an extra day. The emergency phone outside the office should be painted red so people can see it. I finally got a human to come in to the office and fix my code key! Thanks lodes for the drama, I'm sure my nerves really needed the prospect of sleeping in my car.

The staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was not as offered in other motels. Only thing available was store brand danish pastries and coffee. No cerial or fruit or any other foods were offered for breakfast. Not very appealing

So this hotel is definitely cheap so you get what you paid for. The room was spacious but smelled a little bit. The bare essentials were in the room. The lobby was being renovated and was very nice. The patrons next door were quite noisy. Our room was in the back of the hotel and the area did not feel safe and so my boyfriend and I parked our cars in the front of the building which was a long walk from our room. All in all, if you do not scare easily and like cheap hotels to just crash in then this hotel serves it's purpose.

This place was dirty, smelly, there were bugs biting me on the bed--my legs were covered with bites, the bathroom was disgusting, and it's a very unsafe neighborhood despite what the lying front desk clerk and manager claim. Four drunk guys were peeing around the pool, and all the manager and desk clerk could say was We're not babysitters. Someone banged on my door late at night and blocked the peephole, so I didn't say a word or answer, but as a woman alone, I was pretty scared. The next morning someone tried to force entry while I was in the bathroom (and it was NOT housekeeping, as I had a do not disturb sign on my door). The clerk still claimed it was a safe place, but as I learned later from other people, including Jacksonville residents, there have been some nasty robbing and beating incidents at that Days Inn, very recently. The smell in the room was nauseating, and the desk was dirty and sticky. The TV was blurry, the bedspreads were torn and dirty, there were stains on the bed blankets....Need I say more?

Perfect location for the early flights. Nice hotel, wish I could have stayed longer.
