The Hay Adams was an amazing hotel in the Perfect Location. Just Steps from the White house and walking distance to two different Metro Lines. It was a convenient spot as a home base to take in all of the sites. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Our room, unfortunately, overlooked the alley/dumpster, so I would spend a bit more for a view next time, but in reality, we received a great price and we just closed the curtains whenever we were in the room, which wasn't very often. The restaurant was wonderful and the bar downstairs was the perfect spot for a nightcap. All in all, a wonderful experience.

I had asked for a double room and the only one available was the ADA compliant room. The staff was very courteous trying to accomodate since the hotel was booked but the room was (appropriately)funky: low rack in the closet meant only 1/3 of it was usable, no shelves in bathroom meant no blowdryer--first one didnt work, then brought a new one, the clock display was so dim it couldnt be read (clock was replaced but was still not user-friendly). The rest of the hotel made up for the room, but it was a bit of a disappointment considering the reputation of the hotel.

The "W" is well located, comfortable rooms and trendy but old and tired.
We enjoyed our stay because of the outstanding
sevice and local knowlege of your concierge John.
He organised our tours, entertainment venues,
great restaurants and train to New York. Nothing was to much trouble.
Thanks "W" for employing such a wonderful USA

Old world glamour and style with Four Diamonds ratingThe St Regis, Washington D.C. hotel has an illustrious history, being a favorite spot in Washington D.C. for royals, politicians, presidents and celebrities since its 1927 opening. The hotel is well located very near to the White House itself, along with many other popular attractions. Though the hotel has a long history, it is fully up to date after a comprehensive refurbishment, to ensure that guests find a grand combination of classic style with modern flourishes. 3 Reasons to Stay:Hotel known for its illustrious visitors including royalty, prime ministers, and every US President since 1927 Renaissance styling with a wealth of imported antiques, chandeliers and furnishings for the ultimate in elegance Recently received the AAA Four Diamond Award, ensuring a stay of the highest caliber The St Regis, Washington D.C. Great Place to Stay in DC near White House

One of the most memorable visits I've had to DC - and the location and staff of the hotel had a big role to play.
Avoid taking the Hop on Hop Off - the location of the hotel makes all the sites and meseums accessible with a few min walk or a short taxi ride. By picking a hotel centrally located, you can get to places faster and avoid being stuck on a hop on off bus or wait for sub-way and change for hours. This hotel has been one of most impressive ones I've stayed at across US and Europe in all my trips these past 30 years.

First rate, but a little expensive. Staff very accomodating including checking us in early when we arrived and giving us a late check out so we could spend a little more time in the city. I've stayed at several hotels in DC and the Jefferson is currently my favorite. The room I was in was on the small side, but it was very luxurious and fit me like a cashmere blanket. I arrived very late in DC for business and left early the next morning. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer.

I upgraded at the Ritz Carlton, Georgetown on your website - $100 extra per night. The hotel had no record of the upgrade/pre-payment. They argued with me about it and didn't believe that I paid for any upgrade. I don't expect this at check-in. They gave me a regular room and not a suite. I had to print the itinerary to show them and then they still questioned me. I was not happy with the treatment from them or your inability to show them my upgrade.

We had a great time in DC. We only spent two nights there but enjoyed every minute of it. One great thing about the hotel was that it was in close to a lot of attractions. We walked to the White House as well as to the many restaurants available nearby. There's also a lot of great shopping only blocks away. I would definately stay here again on my next vist!

Family Vacationer V2
- Dec 29, 2012
We took a mini family vacation in Washington at this hotel. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast at the hotel is incredible at a fairly reasonable price. Its hard to beat the location of the hotel. Its walking distance to many good restaurants, as well as the metro station. The only downside to this hotel was high parking rates ($32+tax) per night. Also, if you are a light sleeper, you might want to consider a room not facing the main streets. Overall very pleased with our stay at the hotel and will definitely consider staying there again.

Had a great stay in at the hotel. Awesome location! My room was very comfortable, however I wished it had free wireless internet in the rooms. Free wireless is only available in the lobby. I work for four star hotels in Atlanta and we provide free internet to guests. We understand that many travelers need access to the internet for either work, checking up on home, or fine tuning their vacation planning.
Only issue I had was that my room wasn't turned over a couple of times and housekeeping knocked on my door before 9am. I can understand housekeeping checking rooms at that time on weekdays, but it really doesn't make sense for that to happen on weekends. Parking is ridiculously expensive!!! Don't bring a car.
You're near Union Station, the metro, a taxi stand, and bus lines that run throughout DC. There's absolutely no need.
I would definitely stay here again!

The staff was very friendly. There was a lot of construction going on when we went (i.e. elevator repair, carpet replacement) so we had to use the steps because there was only 1 elevator. So, it's good for future stays, but slightly inconvenient for this stay. There is a lot of construction going on outside but I couldn't hear it from my room.
VERY close to dupont circle and multiple metro stations. Close to National Geographic Museum.

We went to Washington DC to visit the Cherry Blossom festival and downtown exhibits. Metro rail right around the corner so we gave the car to valet for parking. With Metros easy access to sights of DC we had fun. Staff was very friendly and helpful giving information and recommendations. Room was very clean and though we were on a major street we did not hear a sound from traffic. We would recommend this hotel and will go back. Only problem was getting our car back from valet parking took close to 45 minutes when we checked out and we could not find many small kid friendly restaurants nearby(within short walking distance). There was a restaurant and nice small pub-like bar within the hotel. Usual food and looked very nice and good but we wanted to eat out of the hotel.

I have stayed here before and it is a great place to stay. The only problem I had was I had reserved two rooms; one king and one with 2 queens. When I arrived they said that my reservation came across as 2 kings. I had my confirmatory email with the reservation as I made it but they still could not help me. They were sold out of queens. So two folks had to sleep in one bed versus having a bed of their own.

Great Location!

It's a great hotel! Don't expect much from the minibar and there's no ice-machine. So you have to order buckets of ice from the front desk. If you're not used to sleeping near a busy intersection that might prove a little troublesome. Other than that the staff were super helpful, and the location was incredibly convenient.

Very futuristic and minimal in design, to the point that I spent 15 minutes figuring out how to work the lights! Never did find a way to turn on the fan in the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable, room easy to sleep in, but small with no table or chair, which would not have served well if I had to write anything. Has an iron & ironing board and hair blower in room, but no coffee service. Restaurant limited but food is good and service quick. Really excellent bar service for a large crowd from my conference. Good staff all around.

Hotel was well located for my sightseeing stay in DC. Very convenient with Starbucks located in the building for a quick grab of caffeine and such. Accomodations are nice with everyone doing a great job. Reseached other parking options, such as, leaving vehicle at airport and riding Metro or using other parking lots (they run about $25 a night). Hotel was pricey at $42 a night plus tax ( think $50 a day) for parking but the convenience factor made it acceptable. Drove to National Cathedral and Georgetown so wanted vehicle handy.

The staff are all fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed every interaction with all the hotel employees. The rooms are small but fairly clean and comfortable. We stayed 3 nights and I had to request washcloths each day. I was almost grudgingly given 2 washcloths in my daily quest. Why they don't automatically put them in the rooms is unknown. You also get 2 bath towels and no more. Maybe they have a towel Troll? Room service was very prompt and good food. Front Desk and Doormen and Bellmen are exceptional.

I experienced a very comfortable stay during a business trip. The room size was perfect, had a great view, bathroom was stellar and everything was impeccably clean. Location was spot on for business. The staff was wonderful.
In my opinion, there were only a few downsides for value considering the rate of the room. The room service food was far below what I expected. Incredibly overpriced, off-temp, and limited selections. Reminded me more of Ruby Tuesdays food that had been left under a food lamp for some time. I noticed other plates outsides of doors in the hallways with significant food left, so I wasn't alone on this experience.
Second: I found that the wireless internet ($40 a week) to be spotty and slow.
While we were awoken early in the morning for a delivery that wasn't meant for our room, we had no other problems with the staff. They were wonderful. The doormen and front desk clerks were superb and accomodating.
All in all, an experience deserving of high marks.

Really Awesome for Price

Sleek and Cheap
- Dec 12, 2012
Overall, the hotel was clean, modern, and well-maintained. I loved the room and the view of the street below. The bed was comfortable, neat, and clean. Most of the staff members were incredibly friendly and professional. However, one of the gentlemen who brought the meal I ordered through room service was very quiet, stoic, and not particularly friendly. When I asked for an additional condiment, he never returned with it.
In terms of transportation, the hotel is not particularly close to a metro station, though you could walk to it; but cab fair to most parts of the city is pretty inexpensive. Cabs are always available at the hotel entrance. But if you will be bothered by the sound of the doormen's cab whistles, ask for a room that is not directly over the entrance.
I definitely would stay at this hotel again, especially for the discounted price.

The hotel is in very nice shape, feels very new. Valet parking is the only option unless you use a different parking area. I was disappointed with the workout facility as it was fairly limited and small. The bed was comfortable, room was nice, I wish Westin would start offering free internet in rooms like most other hotel chains.

Very hard to find. The hotel does not have a very big sign. Hint it looks like a monunment and has a red awing with small white stripes above the steps. We drove past it four times even when I had someone on the phone from the hotel. Location was central to everything. We never had to take public transportation, for what we did. Front desk staff was very gracious. I did ask for the gold fish but never did get one in the room. Oh well, no big deal just seemed like a neat idea for something different. Be aware of the valet men, pay inside, tip only one man. They were out like sharks. The car was fine but it is expensive $34.00 a day. That needs to be considered when the room rate seems great.
