The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and very close walking distance to U Street and a short walk to downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and the hotel was a little run down, but definitely worth the money. I am going to start staying here regularly.

It was ok. A little noisy at night. Where I'm from, they don't charge $25 extra a night for parking, Also the continental breakfast was below par. Definitely not worth the price of $14 for powdered eggs. Thankfully it was free and Mcdonalds was across the street!

Super staff, very good location--I walked everywhere I needed to go--to a conference meeting, to the Mall for sightseeing, and to restaurants in between. Room was cozy and on the small side, but very nicely appointed. I was able to book at last minute for four nights--worked out great.

Overall, a very pleasant experience! The decor is inviting & classy and the staff are extremely helpful & friendly. We did have to ask for extra pillows and there didn't seem to be a flat sheet provided on the bed. These were minor issues, easily resolved with a call to the front desk. Their free lobby WiFi was down during my stay so I was graciously given free access in my room while they sorted out the problem. (I do feel that the WiFi should be free throughout, however.)

Nice boutique hotel convenient to Dupont Circle (aprox ten minute walk). Room was clean and comfortable with decent amenities (loved the "Nespresso" machine). There is underground (secure) parking available (for a fee), however, parking spaces are small so may not be suitable for bigger vehicles. If you plan on using the Metro it is best to walk downhill to Dupont Circle and the return via Cleveland Park/National Zoo.

I had stayed at the DuPont Circle Hotel eons ago, before it's current ownership & renovation. I knew it would be a very convenient location -- close to shops, restaurants, bars & Metro. The hotel bar/restaurant was hoppin with a well-dressed after-work crowd. I hadnt seen the renovation -- it's really very well done. Design aficionados will have plenty to gaze upon, from great finishes, well-selected furniture, and a deluxe bathroom with heated floors. The rooms aren't the biggest hotel rooms I've seen, but they are some of the nicest. And at a reasonable price, too.

The Embassy Inn is currently a thirty eight room bed and breakfast hotel. The Inn originated in 1910 as an eight unit apartment house. In 1919 it was further renovated into a thirty room tourist hotel. The current owners re-opened the inn in 1987 as a thirty eight room hotel. The Embassy Inn's moldings, mosaic entrance tiles, and marble stairway are original and its furnishings are simple and comfortable reproduction antiques.
Start each morning with an expanded continental breakfast to get you going for the day's activities. The neighborhood includes the Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan areas with many diverse restaurants and shops to explore. The Inn is easily accessible to Washington's business district, museums, monuments, and universities. The White House is only 10 blocks south of the Inn, and the National Zoo is also nearby. I chose the hotel because it was close to where I needed to go for an interview. I was staying basically overnight. The room was ok.. the shower curtain had some mold on it. The bed was firm, which I like but most other people don't. The staff were nice enough. FYI - the breakfast starts at 7am, so if you need to head out of the hotel before that you're out of luck. The place was quiet though and adequate enough for an overnight stay.

Great hotel---Metro stop just across the circle and Whole Foods one block away. Don't get the ground floor room just above the dumpsters (bad move on our part). Just a little noisy with sirens because GWU emergency is just across the circle. Helpful and pleasant staff. Room had coffee beans and grinder and full kitchen. Our only complaint was the pillows could have been better. We definitely will stay there again.

We were pleasantly surprised that our hotel was so convenient to downtown D.C. AND the Metro system. The front desk was VERY helpful with all our questions and we did ask a lot. Everyone was friendly and ready to help us when we needed. Great place/location and we will definitely use this hotel again when we visit in the future. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit the D.C. area for a great price and great value!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The location was next to the Metro and a block from the Air & Space Museum. The rooms were clean, pillows very comfy, lots of amenities in the bathroom, and beds were comfortable. Be warned that because this is a business/government area, there aren't many sit-down restaurants nearby. Quick counter service places, though.

Staff was ok. The location was perfect walking distance to a lot of resturants, attractions and shopping. The bathroom was very small, but comfortable. The hotel's decor has a nice homely feel. We asked for them to extend our check out by an hour but they couldn't due to the hotel being booked up.

I arrived to the hotel at 1:30 hoping to get checked in early because normally it's at 3pm. This was the first time where I actually had to wait until normal check in time. That was not a good way to start my trip but everything besides that was fine. If you find a deal for around $100 a night on the weekend, it's worth the price.

On first arrival, the staff was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. They pointed out the Whole Foods which was located just 3 blocks. Of course, this greatly complimented the full kitchen which accompanied the room, and made the cost of food for my stay much more affordable. The hotel was also within walking distance to many attractions. The room was extremely spacious. I liked that they had hypoallergenic pillows. My only complaint is that the beds were mediocre- I've been in other hotels where they were better.

Pros: Excellent hotel, very clean, excellent bed, balcony, close to the attractions, great restaurants, metro station very close
Cons: No free WiFi
Stayed here two nights when visitng DC. The hotel & room were excellent, for the price we paid in Dec'11 ($99), it was amazing. The room (with king bed) had a walkout balcony & an excellent view of the Washington monument. There are apparently other rooms that have better views of the national mall. The hotel is walking distance to all the attractions, has a good restaurant & bar. There's also a small shopping mall with a food court downstairs from the hotel. The metro station is very close. Valet parking was a bit pricey but worth it for not having to worry about finding a spot. The reason I didn't give this 5stars is that there was no free WiFi. However, will recommend this without hesitation. Great place.

The overal impression of the hotel was good, except for a very weak shower in my room. If it was not for the shower, I would rate this hotel 5 stars.

Awesome Weekend Experience

- Dec 13, 2011
The staff at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The electricity in our room was shut off and when we called the front desk a maintenance rep was at our door within 10 minutes. He had power back on in a minute (tripped fuse box). The staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants during our weekend visit and we were not disappointed with their recommendations. We will definitely stay at Hamilton Crowne Plaza again! Awesome weekend.

I stayed in DC for 3 days... and was pleased with the Madison's location. It's close to Mc Pherson Sq ... on the metro and not too far from the White House.
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean and cozy. The "courtyard" view is a bit misleading... vents and gravel is all i had a view of..
It's undergoing some renovations which interrupted my room phone service... the drilling and banging begins after 9am... but overall didn't affect my stay.

I came into town to visit my Senators and Congressman and this was the perfect location. My room was very comfortable, clean and quite adequate for just me. It was a small room, but it wasn't a problem for me at all. I would stay there again, for sure.

Good stay but hotel being renovated

This hotel was a good find for the price. A luxury hotel in DC for under $100 a night is a find. Very comfortable bed with choice of several pillows. However as of January 1 this hotel was being renovated. The room we stayed in showed some signs of wear but was in very good condition, overall. (The TV needed replacement as the colors were askew.) The biggest negative was the sound that could be heard from the lounge or other rooms (we were on the second floor). Please do not get the wrong idea, the noise wasn't terribly loud and didn't keep us awake, but it was noticiable.
