The hotel was a great place to stay. In the heart of D,C.. The only thing I was not prepared for was you had to use their parking and it was $ 45.00 a night. If I would have know that I would have parked my vehicle at the airport and used the metro.

We had a great time in DC. We only spent two nights there but enjoyed every minute of it. One great thing about the hotel was that it was in close to a lot of attractions. We walked to the White House as well as to the many restaurants available nearby. There's also a lot of great shopping only blocks away. I would definately stay here again on my next vist!

It's conveniently located near Foggy-Bottom station (about 5 mins of walk), but it felt like there weren't enough places to eat nearby even in the GWU campus area.
The CVS nearby the store and the kitchen in the suite room made it more convenient to eat my own breakfast. The liquor store near the hotel was also a bonus!

WH Holiday Party - Great Location
-
Wife of Political Dude
- Dec 15, 2012
The staff are all fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed every interaction with all the hotel employees. The rooms are small but fairly clean and comfortable. We stayed 3 nights and I had to request washcloths each day. I was almost grudgingly given 2 washcloths in my daily quest. Why they don't automatically put them in the rooms is unknown. You also get 2 bath towels and no more. Maybe they have a towel Troll? Room service was very prompt and good food. Front Desk and Doormen and Bellmen are exceptional.

I experienced a very comfortable stay during a business trip. The room size was perfect, had a great view, bathroom was stellar and everything was impeccably clean. Location was spot on for business. The staff was wonderful.
In my opinion, there were only a few downsides for value considering the rate of the room. The room service food was far below what I expected. Incredibly overpriced, off-temp, and limited selections. Reminded me more of Ruby Tuesdays food that had been left under a food lamp for some time. I noticed other plates outsides of doors in the hallways with significant food left, so I wasn't alone on this experience.
Second: I found that the wireless internet ($40 a week) to be spotty and slow.
While we were awoken early in the morning for a delivery that wasn't meant for our room, we had no other problems with the staff. They were wonderful. The doormen and front desk clerks were superb and accomodating.
All in all, an experience deserving of high marks.

Very hard to find. The hotel does not have a very big sign. Hint it looks like a monunment and has a red awing with small white stripes above the steps. We drove past it four times even when I had someone on the phone from the hotel. Location was central to everything. We never had to take public transportation, for what we did. Front desk staff was very gracious. I did ask for the gold fish but never did get one in the room. Oh well, no big deal just seemed like a neat idea for something different. Be aware of the valet men, pay inside, tip only one man. They were out like sharks. The car was fine but it is expensive $34.00 a day. That needs to be considered when the room rate seems great.

In DC for 2 weeks for work. Excellent walking distance from the office. Many dining options along the way. Easy and enjoyable walk back from the Mall on the weekend. Room was comfortable and welcoming for the extended stay. Loved the vanity to sit and primp in the mornings. The pillows were all synthetic and a bit too plump for my neck's preference...I'd preferred a down and less firm pillow option. Wish they'd have left 2 bottles of water each day. Architecture and 1920s detailing/craftsman ship rich; The lounge is sultry and the cafe simply charming.

I had asked for a double room and the only one available was the ADA compliant room. The staff was very courteous trying to accomodate since the hotel was booked but the room was (appropriately)funky: low rack in the closet meant only 1/3 of it was usable, no shelves in bathroom meant no blowdryer--first one didnt work, then brought a new one, the clock display was so dim it couldnt be read (clock was replaced but was still not user-friendly). The rest of the hotel made up for the room, but it was a bit of a disappointment considering the reputation of the hotel.

The Hay Adams was an amazing hotel in the Perfect Location. Just Steps from the White house and walking distance to two different Metro Lines. It was a convenient spot as a home base to take in all of the sites. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Our room, unfortunately, overlooked the alley/dumpster, so I would spend a bit more for a view next time, but in reality, we received a great price and we just closed the curtains whenever we were in the room, which wasn't very often. The restaurant was wonderful and the bar downstairs was the perfect spot for a nightcap. All in all, a wonderful experience.

Great Place to Stay in DC near White House
-

- Aug 12, 2012
One of the most memorable visits I've had to DC - and the location and staff of the hotel had a big role to play.
Avoid taking the Hop on Hop Off - the location of the hotel makes all the sites and meseums accessible with a few min walk or a short taxi ride. By picking a hotel centrally located, you can get to places faster and avoid being stuck on a hop on off bus or wait for sub-way and change for hours. This hotel has been one of most impressive ones I've stayed at across US and Europe in all my trips these past 30 years.

The first night we were put in a small room with a very hard mattress. The next morning we requested another room and were transfered at no extra cost to a room twice as big with a bathroom twice as big and a comfortable bed.
Location was a short and inexpensive taxi ride to most tourist locations. The taxis in DC are very clean with courteous drivers.

This hotel was running a special $99 per night., which was great for DC. I had stayed there several years ago so I knew it would be fine. The location is excellent for walking to the National Mall, White House, etc. and it is near two Metro stops.
The room was small but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. There is a small but well equipped fitness room. Free coffee is available each morning in the restaurant.

This hotel is a beautiful old building in downtown Washington. The room was small more like a European hotel, but nicely furnished and very comfortable. I was in a room on the ground floor, which has a nice private view of the courtyard of the hotel. The hotel has a nice looking restaurant, but I didn't have a chance to try it. It had a good looking The hotel wireless worked great. They have a small, but reasonable exercise room with a only a few pieces of equipment. The closest metro stop is 5 blocks and is a nice walk. I would definitely stay here again, especially if I could get a similar rate of $150 per night (a great price for downtown DC).

As we spent all of our time in DC in museums on the Mall, the location was excellent and the price was right. The hotel is clean and pleasent. One big draw back is lack of a restaurant (The Four Corners was, for unexplained reasons, closed), and we are not the sports bar type. One negative, right after arrival I told the frron desk that the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work - it still did not work when we left.

Upon arrival, the apearance was grand,, and once insode it felt like college days traveling on a budget, young people - foriegners and an atmosphere of transient with a musty smell. I used an older elevator in the back past the kitchen to the attached resturaunt,, ordorful,, and landed on a surprisingly clean floor with a tiny room and over painted doors,, the kind you would find in Europe. Very Clean and very inexpensive sheets to see the mattress,,, kept my trip affordable and would go back alone only on a strict budget -- and not to impress anyone !! Great location to everything for walking,,,
