Nice boutique hotel convenient to Dupont Circle (aprox ten minute walk). Room was clean and comfortable with decent amenities (loved the "Nespresso" machine). There is underground (secure) parking available (for a fee), however, parking spaces are small so may not be suitable for bigger vehicles. If you plan on using the Metro it is best to walk downhill to Dupont Circle and the return via Cleveland Park/National Zoo.

Weekend in DC
-
MountJoy Mom
- Aug 8, 2011
Our weekend stay at the Fairfax was a pleasant experience. The hotel staff was courteous, helpful and friendly. The concierge took time to help us understand the subway system, and gave us excellent advice on how to plan our itinerary for the museums we wanted to visit. Our room was lovely and had a fabulous view of DuPont Circle. Additionally, the room was meticulously clean, while the beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The reasons for our 4 star rating were as follows: the air conditioning unit in the room was rather loud and tended to blow on my face while I was trying to sleep. On our last night's stay, the hotel was running low on water bottles for their guests, which became problematic for me at 4 AM. Neither room service nor the front desk could spare more than one bottle, because they had run out. (I have been told that it is better to use bottled and filtered water when staying in DC.)The brunch breakfast was not worth the price charged for the meal. We were charged $60.00 for slightly runny eggs and sour berries. If you choose this hotel, you won't be disappointed with your stay. However, you may want to open your options for eating out and be sure to have some extra water on hand!

I had stayed at the DuPont Circle Hotel eons ago, before it's current ownership & renovation. I knew it would be a very convenient location -- close to shops, restaurants, bars & Metro. The hotel bar/restaurant was hoppin with a well-dressed after-work crowd. I hadnt seen the renovation -- it's really very well done. Design aficionados will have plenty to gaze upon, from great finishes, well-selected furniture, and a deluxe bathroom with heated floors. The rooms aren't the biggest hotel rooms I've seen, but they are some of the nicest. And at a reasonable price, too.

Wonderful DC location!
-
Plausible Deniability
- Aug 22, 2011
It doesn't get any better than this hotel located right on Connecticut Avenue in DC. The staff were welcoming, and although there was renovation going on we saw and heard none of it. The room though small was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Most important the linen had a fresh clean smell and almost seemed to have been freshly ironed - I kid you not. Reminded me of when linen was dried outside. We certainly will stay here again.

Quirky 60s art safari

This hotel is not for everyone, but you'll know if it is the second you walk through the door, as this one wears its art on its sleeve! The swanktastic decor is retro-modern with a knowing wink and a cheeseball smirk at 60's pallets and patterns and the hotel obviously aims for fun. With free wine happy hour nightly, snakeskin elevators, and a mini-bar whose menu includes Pez, Wax Lips, and Pop Rocks, Hotel Helix bends over backwards to put a smile on your face and keep it there. Dog friendly AND people friendly, this hotel is heavy on the artsy but light on the fartsy. We loved it!

The overall experience of the hotel was fantastic. You can't say enough about a great staff and the staff at this hotel were simply great. There were a few downsides- there was no coffee maker in the room and the pillowtop mattress was not the most comfortable for a person with a bad back. Other than that, I had a great time and would highly recommend this hotel to other business or casual travelers.

My stay at the Doubletree was wonderful. The room was clean, hotel staff was friendly (especially bartenders!) and accomodating. The location was within a 15 minute walk from Dupont Cirlce (lots of entertainment there) and all the great sites. The only problem was the parking situation. Not being from a city, I didn't assume I would have to pay for parking ($33/night) which is rather expensive for me.

Pleasant stay over a fall weekend. We had a nice room and an almost clean bathroom - the bathtub still had some hair on the lip of the tub.
We were on the 8th floor and still heard lots of traffic in the middle of the night - sirens and a loud party but this is in a large urban area and not unexpected.
Valet parking was timely albiet expensive $40 a day, but again this is just 4 blocks from the heart of Georgetown. Would stay here again.

great location; walking distance to memorials, nightlife, and food. Just to north is wonderful neighborhood full of bistros (Luna Bistro!) and lovely walks. Just to south are the memorials and sights!

I stayed in DC for 3 days... and was pleased with the Madison's location. It's close to Mc Pherson Sq ... on the metro and not too far from the White House.
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean and cozy. The "courtyard" view is a bit misleading... vents and gravel is all i had a view of..
It's undergoing some renovations which interrupted my room phone service... the drilling and banging begins after 9am... but overall didn't affect my stay.

nice place, impressive lobby, great location, friendly staff. yes, the a/c unit is quite loud, but bearable. traveled with a child and were pleasantly surprised to receive a cookie and milk on the first night of arrival. stayed at the Irene weekend and felt really safe and comfortable there. the only weird thing is that we all were bitten by some insects 2 days in a row and not sure if it was in the hotel or elsewhere...

Good hotel

This is a good hotel that is on the same block as a Metro station and only a few blocks from the National Zoo. The rooms are a tad small, but maybe I'm just spoiled from staying at the O^^^ Sh^^^^^m. The coffee shop downstairs is very convenient for cappucinos, and there are plenty of bellmen to help out when you arrive and depart. The grounds are quite attractive, and the neighborhood (Woodley Park) is extremely nice. Overall it's a fairly typical hotel room in lovely surroundings.

I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park for a conference held at the hotel and the lobby was a great, fun place to have meetings and drinks with my fellow conference attendees.
