The temperature in the room wasn't adjustable, it was very hot at night. Very poor breakfast, no bagels at 8.30. Shuttle bus wasn't available because of holidays, but staff confirmed that bus will come as scheduled. Room was very clean and hotel has nice facility. Overall good experience for what you pay.

Had a great stay in at the hotel. Awesome location! My room was very comfortable, however I wished it had free wireless internet in the rooms. Free wireless is only available in the lobby. I work for four star hotels in Atlanta and we provide free internet to guests. We understand that many travelers need access to the internet for either work, checking up on home, or fine tuning their vacation planning. Only issue I had was that my room wasn't turned over a couple of times and housekeeping knocked on my door before 9am. I can understand housekeeping checking rooms at that time on weekdays, but it really doesn't make sense for that to happen on weekends. Parking is ridiculously expensive!!! Don't bring a car. You're near Union Station, the metro, a taxi stand, and bus lines that run throughout DC. There's absolutely no need. I would definitely stay here again!

Convenient though Isolated

  • Bladnoch1
  • Oct 30, 2012
Our experience was great once we found it. The signage from the Metro was dreadful despite being situated directly above it. It was easy when we found the quickest way. There was a big food court beneath the hotel, very convenient for breakfast and reached from the lobby by the world's slowest lift. There is also a post office and a few shops near the food court. It is a very convenient location for sightseeing because of the Metro beneath, the Hop on Hop off bus stops outside, and it is two blocks walk from the Mall and Smithsonian museums. We found the immediate surroundings were a bunch of office buildings with sterile architecture. Very quiet outside at all times, but hardly any restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel was a modern international type with busy lobby. Check-in was efficient but did not explain that the express lifts to the rooms required use of the room key card (a new one on me). Check out was quick. Room was excellent, though slightly worn decor, with balcony and side view of the river. Room contained safe, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron etc. Beds comfy. Room temperature was OK but could not be adjusted to individual taste at this time- reception said that heating was not on. Very quiet in room- no plumbing noises. Service was excellent: we had a maintenance problem with the safe which was attended to in minutes, although the housekeeping was lacking- did not replace all glasses and coffee. The lobby contained a Starbucks, A pub, and a restaurant. The food and service in the last two were excellent. Ask for Roberto in the pub- he looked after us well. The clientele was mixed- business, tourists, youth groups. There are TVs and lounge areas in the lobby. A big downside was the internet access. Wi-Fi was $12.95 per day, but three free terminals were available. Unfortunately these were as slow as the elevator down to the food court! Overall our stay was a good experience in a comfortable hotel.

The Marriot Residence Inn is a fantastic way to stay. The rooms are big, clean, quiet, well equiped and really the best accommodations one could hope for whether travelling alone or with company.

Fantastic weekend getaway

  • Sexy 2some

Spur of the moment, my wife and I decided to go to DC. We have always liked Residence Inns and this was no exception. The hotel is located on the south side of the National Mall in the middle of the Smithsonian museums. The area was deserted for the entire weekend but only a short walk to the Mall and attractions. We actually rented bicycles for half a day and this allowed us to see every site without the strain of walking. We even rode over to Arlington Cemetery. There was a rental station around the corner from the hotel and the Metro stations were 2-4 blocks away-VERY convenient. The staff could not have been friendlier and were knowledgable regarding tourist attractions. Also easily accessible from the Southwest Parkway and 395 right there but no noticeable highway noise. Highly recommend this hotel

This hotel was a perfect choice for us. It was in a convenient location to family as well as walking to the Washington sites. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and had many choices. We plan on using this hotel again.

Extremely comfortable

  • Nov 5, 2012
The Front desk staff were extremely polite and considerate, as were ALL the staff that we met during our stay. The room was comfortable and roomy, even with 2 queen sized beds. The room did not have a refrigerator, nor did we ask for one. We have NO complaints!

Overall good experience a little too much security and rules made us a little wary but everything was fine, I guess better to have it then not, room was clean nice a little small but that is to be expected. Pub downstairs was a good spot for football on Sunday. Free breakfast, Wifi and Cookies was a Plus

Fantastic place for a family to stay

  • Shin Nagayumi
  • Jul 3, 2012
The room was ready when we arrived at around 5 pm. Room is clean, and bigger in size than hotels in the middle of the downtown. A large park is under construction now but the environment around the hotel will be significantly improved after the work is done.

Brief Business Trip

  • yohn
  • Nov 4, 2012
To start with, the Hotel is within the gated college campus. The GPS had a hard time with directions. The bar was not open, nor did the drink machines have drinks, but the mini shop by the front desk had some delicious sandwiches and snacks. Restaurant selection around the area is kind of sketch, so I would not go expecting great food while you stay here (unless you get some sandwiches from the mini shop). Breakfast was a little pricey, but comfortable. Hotel room itself was HUGE and CLEAN! Very quiet stay and what can I say, two TVs that worked. Awesome. It was a great place to stay while on a short business trip. Will stay there again!
