Great Spot to enjoy Boulder

This is the perfect location for all that Boulder has to offer. We spent our time cruising the shops and restaurants of Pearl St. Street parking was east nearby and the hotel offers affordable valet which is a great deal if you are in and out a lot. Our only complaint is that we did not get to stay in the original historic part of the hotel. We were in the newer annex, which was nice, but didn't have quite as much character.

The breakfast was very nice with lots of choices. The rooms were clean and roomy. The only negative is turning into the motel off the two streets. It is right on the corner of a busy intersection with islands between lanes. You must be traveling west or south in order to turn into the motel. No problem if you are aware ahead of time.

Overall a beautiful place. The Samba band in the lobby was magical! The spa/pool area pristine. Just a few minor details not to my liking: the spa amenities, shampoo, bath salts, are so articficial, blue dye. I went to Lolita's market to get some organic bath salts. The bartender is just that. I was wanting a talented mixologist to make my margarita. Didn't happen, so I stuck with wine. The staff are courteous, but mostly college aged kids who lack some finesse and professionalism. Working at the Julien seems more in line for professional service industry workers.

Our room key didn't work, got another key and someone was in the room. Hotel upgraded our room. Very friendly and helpful staff, however the wait staff not stellar. The layout of the room and the decor was amazing and yet comfortable. Our view from our room was a bit obscured due to the building, but we could see part of the mountains. Very nice and upscale hotel.

Although the location was a bit out of the area where I was training the room was very nice. Room service cleaned every day. The gym was small however it was well organized and provided enough equipment for a good workout. They also had laundry and dry cleaning services. Wholefoods was within walking distance, that is if you don't mind walking a half mile or more. I really enjoyed my stay and would consider returning in the future.

The staff was excellent! Pool and hot tub were nice and we loved the in-room recycling program. Great environmental company. Very glad we stayed at this location. However, the rooms could use some updating. The carpet is old and pretty funky and the bathrooms had no exhaust fans. It was fine for us as we are a little funky ourselves, but if you are looking for crispy new, this is not the place for you. Those would be my only complaints. Very fair price for the location. Staff was more helpful than at a 5-star hotel!

We were there while I attended classes at CU. I could walk to class and back easily, drive for dinner at night, etc. It was very convenient for us. Great place for pet owners with an area for dogs to run and play. My kids loved the pool, it was much cleaner and nicer than a much more expensive hotel nearby! There is even an area with Boulders to climb on! It is nothing fancy, but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The experience of the hotel was good. The one complaint I have is that when I booked this hotel, I was told it was within easy walking distance of the CU campus. That was my main goal of booking the hotel because I didn't want to have to drive & find parking on family weekend. Plus pay $20 per day parking on campus. This was not within walking distance of the campus. If fact there was no way to walk to the campus from this hotel, as you had to drive down highway 36 for about 1.5 - 2 miles to get to where the campus is. This turned out to be a major problem & hassle as everything was packed full on Saturday before the football game. I had to park along ways away & take a cab. Frustrating when what I told the person when I booked this is I wanted to be within easy walking distance of the campus.

Nice but...the murphy bed has to go.

  • Weekend traveller
  • Jul 11, 2011
Its a clean hotel and has great service. We checked-in super late and all regular rooms were taken. The one let down was that we got a room with a murphy bed (the kind that pulls down from a closet-like thing) and those are seldom comfortable. Thats the only semi-complaint. We didn't get good rest because it was not the standard bed we're used to getting at a Marriott. In hind sight, we should have requested a new room the next day. Otherwise, Marriott is consistent where its important - rooms, service, cleanlines, wherever we stay its great. Just stay away from murphy beds.

Good location if you need to be near U of CO, but nothing else. $9.95/day for high speed internet access is ridiculous. McDonalds offers that free of charge. It's 2011 and internet access is a commodity. Room cleanliness is fair borderline poor. Room decor is old and needs refreshing. Staff is very good.

Simple cabins replaced the tents and over time those cabins have been renovated into cozy cottages each with a unique history and historic charm. We offer nightly rentals year-round. During the summer months June-August we offer 60 cottages Missions House Lodge and Columbine Lodge for nightly rental. The cottages range in size from efficiency to 1-3 bedrooms each with a fully equipped kitchen and screened-in front porch. From September to May we long-term lease some of the cottages and all of Columbine Lodge. We continue to offer nightly rentals in 35 cottages and Missions House Lodge. Well I just came to Boulder, from Seattle, and needed a place to stay, while I looked for more permanent housing. My room had a kitchenette, and the hotel had free continental breakfast, so I was able to minimize the cost of living in a hotel, for the week. The staff was always friendly and more-than-willing to offer any info.. Also, the hotel is within walking distance of all the really good shops and restaurants, if you have some extra cash:D

I have a business trip to NCAR. You can drive more easily on the 28th Frontage Rd to get the hotel if you come from north. The no-smoking rooms are on the east side and quiet. The next day when I get up, there is a rainbow on the sky with fresh air. The employee is very friendly. The hotel can gave the receipt even you prepaid on the internet (some hotels are not, make it is very discommodious for me from China).

Good family home base for Boulder

  • Jul 22, 2011
We had come from an extended family gathering at a run down low budget hotel in Denver, so this was a refreshing change. We had a two room suite, which was great for children who have trouble getting to sleep. The room was spacious and the amenities were of decent quality. Check in was quick and the continental breakfast was more than adequate. The hotel is within Boulder city limits, but it is definitely a drive into downtown. The rate we paid was a bit high compared to other similar sided rooms we've stayed in in Colorado, and I'd question whether it is "cheaper enough" than the downtown offerings to merit not staying within walking distance. If you can get a good rate, go for it, but check downtown, too.

This is a beautifully furnished, very comfortable inn with a lovely dining room and an excellent hot breakfast. The setting in Boulder Canyon right on Boulder Creek is spectacular and yet just 4 miles from downtown Boulder and the University of Colorado. My only complaint is that a few small things didn't work right. There were bulbs in the recessed lighting that were burned out, a shelf in the bathroom was loose and coming off the wall and my door to the adjacent patio was broken so I couldn't use it to go out to the patio but had to walk around through adjacent hallway. Also, my bed was not "pillow topped". Fix those few samll things and this place is truly stellar.

Fun, funky, not fancy

We overall enjoyed our experience at the Alps Canyon Inn, though for the price paid ($!64/night for their smallest room) it wasn't really worth it. Our room was small, though adequate, and clean, but just looked faded and plain - from the virtually gray wreath on the wall above the bed to the zero color and decor in the bathroom. The outside had lots of projects in process, including broken front steps and equipment sitting around. But the location is good, the staff is friendly, the cookies and complimentary dessert offered at night great touches, and the breakfast nice. It's just overpriced for the quality of the experience.

We had no troubles while staying here. We would probably stay again. Boulder is small enough that this place was not too far out of the way from town.

Stayed as the Boulder Twin Lakes Inn during a recent trip to visit CU Boulder. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and quiet.

Before Columbus sailed across the pond, on roadside winding through quite European villages stood travelers inns and guest houses. These dwellings provided the hospitality and shelter to road-weary travelers that created the innkeeping industry today. And so, as is the American way, we take our lead from the heritiage of the Europeans and modify it to adapt to our culture. Lookout Inn GuestHouse and Suites was developed on the age-old concept of offering hospitality and shelter at its finest not only to the business traveler but also the vacationer. We follow a diffrent road in service, accommodations and amenities. Lookout Inn GuestHouse and Suites is unique in style and gracious in service.
