My husband and I usually stay in Calistoga but we were unable to get a reservation at the place we always stay. I looked on the web to find a location similar to the pace we liked in Calistoga and found the MacArther inn and spa. No disapointment at all. Loved the location, The grounds reminded me of a country estate. The staff was VERY friendly. Loved the pool and spa. Wonderful but simple continental breakfast. They even have the most current dvd for use

MacArthur Place fulfilled all my expectations and hopes for a cozy, friendly, lovely inn. The room was large, clean, comfortable. The staff was wonderful and helpful in planning our day. Their suggestions were excellent. We enjoyed the wine and cheese afternoons in the library with a big fireplace. We met some lovely couples. The breakfasts were very nice (complimentary) and we had a wonderful dinner in Saddles rest. on the property. It's a nice walk into the square of Sonoma. We will definitely stay there again.

The staff were friendly and informative. Even allowed me to have a take away continental breaky as I had to start work at 5.30am. The beds are comfortable. Bathroom well loaded. However, there was no microwave. A long way to cross the road to get to the Hotel as a pedestrian as there are no cross ways nearby.

A Getaway to Beauty and Tranquility

Quiet and lovely yet 3 blocks away from The Plaza with its fabulous restaurants and many gift shops and galleries. We took in a Sonoma band concert at the Plaza and enjoyed a delightful cheese and fruit platter at a local restaurant, strolled through old Mexican barracks and viewed the northernmost Mexican mission in California in the nearby plaza.

Outstanding place to stay in Sonoma

  • Gerry
  • Jul 29, 2007
My wife and I totaly enjoyed our stay at the Victorian Garden Inn. The owner and staff were very hospitable and they helped to make our stay so enjoyable. The Inn is located only a couple of blocks from the City's plaza which is surrounded by all types of local retail stores, historical sites, e.g., the mission, and a number of very good restaurants. I have recommended this place to a number of friends, and any time I am going to be in the Napa - Sonoma area I will be staying at the Inn, if I can get in after telling everybody about how good it is.
