Lots of little niceties - usb charger/ipod dock in the alarm clock, free bottled water, two pools (one a wee bit dirty) plus a lovely hot tub, DVD player and a large TV, free internet (a bit intermittent), fridge, microwave. Adequate number of pillows. The closet area in our room was behind the door in a nice little nook where we could fit our baby's pack n' play. Shower but no tub. Rooms well removed from street, noise level was nice, plenty of parking. Will stay here again!

While the hotel had a section under remodel it didn't impede the enjoyment of our stay. The hotel is close to the peer and within walking distance of State street. The room was good, the patio was nice and the continental breakfast was enjoyable. they also had a heated pool which was nice to dip in and warm up after taking a swim in the ocean. Overall its was a good place to stay.

needed a place with two queen beds since we're a family of 5 (3 small kids).
room (suite) was spacious and clean. no real view, but we weren't really interested in that. beds were advertised as queens but they had to be the smallest queen beds we've ever seen.
it's located right off the freeway and you can hear the traffic so if you're looking for a quiet night, this ain't the place. also, the suite is located at the end of the hall where the stairs are (no elevator) so you can hear all the traffic and the bump, bump, bump as people drag their bags down them...
all in all, not a bad deal for what we were looking for and we'd probably come back as long as we got a good price...

We booked the Ramada Limited when we decided to go to Santa Barbara for NYE 2011. With 3 kids under 6, we needed a hotel that was kid-friendly and easy access to shopping and freeways. The continental breakfast was good and held the kids over until lunch. Downtown Santa Barbara was only 10 minutes away from the Ramada Inn. This was our first time to Santa Barbara and will definitely stay at this hotel next time we're here!

A Good Option in Santa Barbara

The Fess Parker is set on a beautiful stretch of beach in Santa Barbara just minutes from downtown and the main shopping district. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are well maintained, and the grounds offer everything from a swimming pool to tennis courts, a spa, and several restaurants. The hotel's main positives are its location, the view, the amenities and the staff. I wish they would nickel and dime you less though, everything from parking to internet carries an extra fee. When you're paying $300+ a night for a hotel room, you sort of expect the wifi to be gratis. And $18 for self-parking (per night) is a huge rip-off. Also, expect train noise if you're on the side of the hotel that faces the mountains.

The Mason Beach Inn is your pretty standard small hotel. The room had a comfortable King size bed, the television was ancient but still worked, and the shower was actually above average(although the water pressure went in and out). The pool was relatively clean and heated. We walked to State Street from the hotel(about a mile), and cabbed home at the end of the night for about 7 bucks. I thought overall it may have been a little pricey for what you get, but it is definitely an upgrade over the chain motels.

Last minute New Year's Eve getaway. Friendly staff, clean room, great location close enough to state street and the beach but just far enough away from all the noise. Definitely will be returning here for a weekend getaway.

Overall, we had a good stay. Easy acces to everything we wanted to do in Santa Barbara. The motel does need some cosmetic work but for a simple, decent place to stay, I would return.

The bath is small and the towwels very light. Some things were missing like a clock and the batteries on the remote needed to be replaced. We found a dead battery on the floor beneath the table. We had to re-plug the phon inorder to make a call. A bit pricey for the average motel stay.

Ok hotel, but the double beds here are smaller than single beds in other american hotels.
For visiting Isla Vista, too far away from downtown Santa Barbara.

Stayed for 2 nights w/my girlfriend in June. The smell of dumpsters is overbearing from the parking lot. Rooms are dark, and privacy is limited (windows face poolside). The location is dismal, miles away from dtSB. Highlights include heated pool and outdoor bar.

Friendly and attentive staff! :) However, please update the old towels in the room, they were so thin. Please air out the rooms as it smelt like old closet/room (no matter how much lotion/cologne/perfume we used...the smell lingered).

Cool ocean breeze so no ac needed. Wine and cheese was great along with breakfast in the morning. The room was a little pricey but it was fiesta weekend.

The hotel is located close to 101, not very close to downtown. It's a fair price for the experience. The room is big and clean.
The downside is that the refregirater and air conditioner are very noisy. If you are noise sensitive, it's probably not a good choice. For us, we were very tired after day trip, so we managed to sleep well.
Btw, the wi-fi internet in room charges $4.99 additional fee.

this hotel was perfect for a 1-night trip from southern cal. the hot tub and heated pool were fantastic and they had an unlimited wine and cheese happy hour. just a few blocks from state street and right across from the beach. can't beat it for the price.

This hotel was clean and the staff was great! It is in an obscur area, so don't plan on walking off the property to find anything to do. It was a great place to stay overnight on the way up north. The free hot breakfast was a great perk too! I would request to not face the freeway.

Nothing very exciting. Stayed at this hotel because it was cheap, close to State Street, and available. We tried to get a late check-out, which was flatly denied. No major issues. The room was comfortable and everything was decent. I would recommend it if you're on a budget.

Perfect place just to rest your head

If you need a place just to rest your head while you're in Santa Barbara you really should give this place a chance. If you're used to the Westin or Hilton type places you probably won't like it here but if you're in town with some friends or loved ones and you don't plan on spending tons of time in you room, this is your place. My bf and I met another couple in SB for the weekend. The hotel was very close to State Street and that's where we spent the majority of the day - shopping and bar hopping. Then at night we grabbed some food and drinks and went back to the hotel. Our rooms were side by side and each had a sliding glass door that led out to a table with a few chairs. Yes, someone can walk right up to your slider but it's not that major - there's a curtain. Anyways, we pooled our tables and chairs, set up the food and had a great night just hanging out. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and I thought it was cute that they provided apples, candy and cookies in the room.
So again, there are no thrills to the room but it's nice. Who goes to Santa Barbara to spend the whole time in their hotel anyways??

We needed a hotel room for one night to attend a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. This hotel allowed a one night booking.
By the time of our trip the hotel was sold out. We got there around 3 pm, and we were assigned a room which seemed too noisy for our needs ( too close to the jacuzzi) - the staff was able to one us to a room which was quieter. We would stay here again!

Stayed here for a night, the room was clean and bright and had a fresh smell. The location is really great, just cross the street and you are on the beach. The free bike rentals are nice too, a bike ride along the beach in the morning makes for a nice beginning. The breakfast room can get crowded, but you can take your breakfast to one of the open sitting areas with ocean overlooks. The 3-star for value is because they charge even for parking and tea/coffee in the room. Charging for the mini-bar is acceptable, but these additional charges are not cool when the price already includes a $20 resort fee. Overall though a nice hotel, would stay here again.

If you're looking for a big luxurious room, look somewhere else or at least consider the fancier rooms. Mine was small (okay, tiny) but sufficient since I was there to enjoy Santa Barbara, not my room.
Room, linens, bed were all very comfortable. It's definitely about the location. Right across the street from lovely beach and just a few blocks away from 'downtown' with lots of great restaurants and wine tasting rooms.
I wouldn't pay a lot for the hotel itself (save the location), so value only when you get a good deal (I booked with a flight for a work meeting and it only ended up costing about $110/night).
Cab ride cost about $40 from airport (before tip).

We were very pleased with the attentiveness of the hotel staff. If a hotel employee ran into us anywhere on the premises, he/she would greet us and inquire as to whether we needed assistance with anything. ..Loved the architecture and decor within.. The room was perfect and the bed was especially comfy.
The location of the Hyatt was awesome! We were easily able to access the beach across the street and conveniently close to State St and the Marina restaurants. We definitely would stay here again!
As usual, our experience was nothing less than one would expect at a Hyatt property.

this was a spring break trip, but we also visited UCSB with my son who is starting to apply to collages. I also have a son that is attending SBCC, and lives near the hotel. The hotel is older, but has been well maintained over the years. it was very clean, and I would stay there again.

I was there with friends to attend a concert at SB Bowl. The motel is very clean and very quiet. I felt it was a nice basic motel with some charm. I'm glad im not a large person as the bathrooms are small. But it's kind of like being in a suite on a cruise. All in all I would recommend this place. Peabody's was wonderful.

Wonderful Place with Many Extras!

This hotel was a little bit older than expected, but the extras put it over the top! It was very clean and comfortable. The many extras included:coffee pot, makeup mirror, fridge, microwave, cookies and fruit, and USA today. The lobby also offered a variety of delicious coffees and hot apple cider. We would definitely visit here again!

This hotel had a great staff! The grounds were as clean as they could be and the room was redone every morning (5) that we were there. It was excellent for a visit from Mn. to Santa Barbara. They even supplied a shuttle to and from the airport for us. They offered coffee and fruit at all hours in the lobby and always left fresh fruit and candies in the room. The only thing that they could add would be a continental breakfast. However, there was a refrigerator and microwave in the room so we were able to have breakfast there or a midnight snack as needed. Great hottub, pool and firepit for everyone's enjoyment.

we were greeted by friendly staff and fresh-baked chocolate-chocolate chip cookies - the room was spacious and comfortable - next morning we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast in the sunny courtyard by the fountain
