I stayed here during thanksgiving weekend as my in-laws had more people stay at their place than expected. Did my black friday shopping in Colma. Stayed here before, staff is friendly, location is great, not far from airport, IHOP located next door close Tanforan mall and Daly City. Free parking. WiFi needs to improve, very spotty. Room cleanliness is average but they need to fumigate due to occasional ants.

Very old. A/C could be from the 1920s and leaks. Toilet and Shower are separate from the rooms and must be shared. Cockroaches and other bugs abound.
It is cheap though.

I was assigned a smaller room than reserved. Internet went down for four days, they offered a discount but they never applied it. Tried several times to reach the manager he never replies. Still waiting for the refund. Location is good.

My choices for my budget were: cruddy hotel in a nice area or a nice hotel in a cruddy area. This is a cruddy hotel in a nice area. I was not disappointed at what I got since my expectations weren't very high. The room was clean, it smelled fine and there were no bed bugs. All good things. This is about 2 miles from the Golden Gate and the same from the wharf. Theres plenty of food nearby. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, was willing to direct my wife and I to the nearest attractions and even let us keep our bags on site after checkout since our flight wasn't until later in the day. All I need is a clean room and a bed for a low price and that's what I got. I would stay again.

Cozy and quaint.

I've stayed here twice. The first time was great! I had a deluxe room on the 2nd floor furthest away from Lombard Street. It was so quiet and peaceful and the room was quaint and cozy. I just came back from my second visit, and this time I had a room facing Octavia St. but closest to Lombard. It was much, much noisier. The hotel definitely needs updating in furniture (there were rips in the wallpaper, and the furniture has seen better days), but if you're looking for a decent place to stay in a beautiful area of town, this is it! ~7 minute walk to the wharf and a single bus ride away from Union Square. It's a quiet, safe neighborhood with some great restaurants around, and far away from the panhandlers in Union Square. Also, the staff is excellent! Friendly and accommodating! They'll even hold your luggage before you check in and after you check out.
Note: No coffee maker or microwave in the rooms. But there's a Safeway around the corner and a Trader Joe's by the wharf. Free continental breakfast is served until 10am.

The hotel was more than adequate, although the building was of the older variety. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful with every aspect of our stay. The only problem we had was with the hotel's wifi. Other than that, everything was a charm.

Loud and uncomfortable

- Jul 20, 2012
We had the best location within walking distance to public transit, bars, restaurants and the Castro. That's the only good part of this hotel, parking fills up and you either pay to park on the street or park in the handicap spaces. Is that even legal? Also the person above us had some sort of drug or mental condition. I say that because they would literally drag furniture around the room ALL night and day. I complained to the front desk because it was loud and constant. The front desk said they knew about it and would call him. So it stopped for a few hours and then in the evening and the whole second night it was the same thing. It's obvious they really don't care about their guests, such as noise, poor cleanliness, and crummy breakfast options, which is toast, coffee and plastic wrapped sugary bear claws. I would only recommend if location is the only thing that you care about and the price was low.

With one person working at the front desk it made it impossible to ask for anything. The man was slow and not helpful at all there's some homeless around but no big deal. This place is good if you don't plan to be at a hotel for a long period of time wouldn't recommend it and the continental breakfast is nothing special could have a little bit more of a selection. I wasn't impressed at all will never stay here again.

Convenient, no-frills

- Nov 19, 2012
I'm a hard-core traveller, both nationally and internationally. Though I've stayed in the all-inclusive resorts, the 5-Star locations, etc, I've also slept on a grass mat under the stars outside a mud hut.
I was there for a professional meeting. The place was cheaper than any place my colleagues stayed, and it was in a great location (access to so much of downtown SF). Given its location on the edge of several attractions, it also (strangely enough) avoided the bigger crowds. The staff was attentive when you directly addressed them, but don't expect people to go out of their way for you. Breakfast, $4, was absolutely basic (bread, bagels, butter, boiled eggs, juice, coffee, milk), but kind of worth it for a no-frills breakfast. Compare with a starbucks coffee ($3+), and it makes some economic sense, obviously, not for big food snobs, though.

If you can get past the flea-bag lobby and a ride in the rickety elevator, this hotel is an awesome place to stay. Lots of bang for the buck here. I had a gorgeous room with a clean, nice king sized bed, and a beautiful bathroom.
The lack of continental breakfast is made up because the Post Hotel is located next to a Crepery/Breakfast Spot with AMAZING food.
This place is only 2 blocks walking from Union Plaza, a walk from a BART station, the cable cars and lots of shopping.
It is a great bargain for a couple on a budget or young professional in the city to interview.

Super8_September
- Sep 19, 2012

Average motel. Good shower, clean room. Furnishing are "motel cheap" but functional. Wi-fi worked well.
It has traffic noise from Lombard St but its location to Fisherman's Wharf more than makes up for it.
Price is high for what you get but it is SF!

They charge extra for pets, which was expected. They charge extra for parking, not expected, and when I returned to the room, the valet next door had the parking lot jammed. I was told to double park and they would call me when a spot opened. That was around 11:00pm. I was not pleased and let them know it. Now you do, too.

Staff: NOT ok.
- Breakfast starts @ 8am. The guy woke up slowly and opened the door to the lobby @ 8:15, then started putting food... ready @ 8:30!
- Gave me a smoking room ( I asked for non-smoking). When I told him he said that it WAS non smoking.. after I stood there staring at him (and his wife) he gave me the non-smoking room!

I couldn't really expect much from this hotel given the price we paid. The room was pretty nice though. But the walls were pretty thin. When I went downstairs to ask for more towels and the manager opened the storage room door, I saw a mouse scurrying about. That made me uneasy. But for 2 nights in the city, it wasn't that bad. Parking was free, which was a bonus, but the parking is limited. Location was great and was pretty central to all of the tourist attractions.

It is what you pay for. The location in general is very good for getting around to everything, we were able to get to every comunity very easily and only 15 minutes from the airport. the community however is a bit schetchy at night. Don't leave anything visable in your car! It apears that people use the parking lot during the day like a park and ride for transit since parking in the city is EXTREMELY hard to find.

First time in Frisco
-
Anonymous
- Aug 20, 2010
The parking was small for a big truck, hardly accessible when parked cars are around. Noisy person in the room below. Within walking distance of the center of town. The homeless people were everywhere so our things we wanted to leave in the truck had to be taken out. The owners were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the cleaning ladies hauling down a big container from the second floor.
We went to Fisherman's Wharf and walked around for a few hours. Then left for Escondido.
Not being used to city life, it was noisy besides the person down stairs who was terribly noisy.
An average stay in Frisco.

I have to admit, some of the reviews on this hotel were bad, so I was happy to find a lot of positives in my stay here. First off, the rooms are great, very clean and updated. Location is in Tenderloin area of SF, so not the best hood in SF. But I'm from LA so I see my fair share of bums around here too. I wouldn't say a kid friendly area. We also stayed @ The Pheonix, which is literally 1 block from Alexandria Park. We payed double the price and for the area and room quality, got less for our money, just a different vibe in the hotel (young and artsy), oh and it has a pool. Alexis Park is in between some key points of the city, a short drive to Fisherman's wharf and 10 minute drive to Castro. If shopping is your thing, Barney's, Nordstrom, Bloomie's etc. is a few blocks down O'Farrell on Market St. which is a short walk from the hotel. All in all, for the price and free parking on site, you can't beat it. Great hotel for a cheap SF weekend trip. And if you're scared of homeless people, they're all over SF, no matter where you stay. So if that really bothers you, don't travel to the bay area.

Easy access from the 101, right on Lombard street.
Close to Fisherman's Wharf and hot neighborhoods.
Staff was helpful.
The beds are comfortable, and the only grip we had was that the room was smoking when we requested non-smoking.

M and J Vacation Time
- Mar 28, 2012
My boyfriend and I were in need of a good vacation. San Francisco was our destination. We wanted to look for a good and in our budget type of place. Ramada Limited San Francisco was perfect. We wanted a place that included parking because we planned to park and leave the truck there while we stayed. (it is first come first serve though) We used public transportation which was great because the main buses that take you everywhere were right around the corner. The staff was very helpful when we needed directions or any additional questions about the room. Plus they let us check in early. Breakfast was sufficient and for the price of the room we had nothing to complain about. EXCEPT for one night when we heard the complete argument between a mother and daughter. - but then again it was Saint Patrick Day weekend. Drunk people everywhere! But anything you need is close by. There is plenty of bars around and the neighborhood is nice. There is a Safeway down the street to buy booze or food. Overall I would stay there again and I would recommend it for a short weekend trip to anyone. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!

We stayed 5 nights at the hotel in November around Thanksgiving. It is a MOTEL, not really hotel. The room was clean, freshly made every day, comfortable.
Front staff, Rickey, made it his business to be very helpful. We had no car so walked the 6 or so blocks to the Westfield Shopping Mall and to public transportation. I considered the location fairly safe and did not feel threatened, even later in the evening. You do hear the traffic noise from the Bay Bridge, turn on the A/C and this helps. All in all very satisfied with service, cleanliness, and amenities for the price paid.

This hotel is a few block away from Moscone Center and was perfect for us. You can't beat the price for the rooms. Room has a mini fridge and microwave. Plus there's a local pizza place that delivers (menu in room) and there's free wi-fi. Nothing fancy here, but the staff is very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again.
