Family Vacation

  • Aug 12, 2012
Our family of 4 stayed 5 nights at this beautiful hotel for our annual summer vacation. We loved our 2 bedroom accommodations. Everything was so 1st class and the beds were extra comfortable. After walking all day, it was a joy to sink into the cozy sheets and pillows. Although we had a city view, we were steps away from the Mustard lounge on the 2nd floor. What a great place to have a drink and watch the world go by below at Ghiradelli Square. The view from the Mustard lounge was spectacular! We booked the complimentary bicycles and had a great adventure riding to the Golden Gate bridge. The hotel should probably inform guests that the ride on the bridge is chaotic and children under the age of 16 may have problems navigating through the numerous walkers and other bikers. The breakfast at the Fairmont was perfect for our family and we enjoyed it every morning outside on the terrace. The staff was exceptional and were eager to offer help or suggestions to restaurants or fun places to go. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are looking into the Fractional ownership offered by The Fairmont Heritage. We will definitely stay here again!

The Fairmont Heritage Place was the perfect stay for our vacation. The suites were impeccable, with all of the amenities for our stay away from home. The beds were heavenly! The linen was crisp, fluffy and comfortable. The staff turned down our beds nightly and left a chocolate surprise on our pillows. Ghirardhelli Square was a perfect location to stay in San Francisco. Will definitely stay here again next time.

Weekend Tourists

  • LA Tourist Couple
  • Dec 10, 2012
We came up from LA for the weekend to just be tourists in San Francisco. The OMNI is located within walking distance to so many areas (China Town, Financial District, Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero, AT&T Park, Little Italy) and is only 4 blocks from a BART station if you're wanting to go to other areas. We took BART to go to/from the airport and to the Orpheum Theater to see the Lion King. There's also a cable car stop right outside the hotel. Since the OMNI is right in the heart of the Financial District, a lot of things in that area are closed on weekends since they cater to the Monday-Friday crowd, but you'll find lots of things open just a short walk away. It was nice to stay in a quieter, less touristy area actually. The staff at the OMNI is the best you'll find, from the doorman to the front desk to the maids to room service. Upon arrival into our room, we had a hand-written note from the maid along with a note from the hotel staff welcoming us and telling us to not hesitate to let them know if we needed anything at all. Anytime we would pass a maid in the hallway, she would say hello and ask us how our day was. The doormen asked us if they could point us in the direction of anything each time we left, and they welcomed us back each time we returned. We couldn't believe how friendly everyone was, and how each person seemed to be in such a good mood, enjoying what they do. Our bed was very comfortable. We can't stop talking about the pillows! The room itself was spacious and everything was in perfect working order. Be sure to join their rewards program (it's FREE) for complimentary in-room wireless and daily morning beverages and newspaper (weekdays only) delivery.

I checked into the Four Seasons to celebrate the end of a tough semester of studying at UC Berkeley. I didn't travel very far, just across the Bay, but the Four Seasons provided a delicious escape. Even though I arrived in somewhat scruffy clothes, with just my 'Go Bears' duffle for luggage, I was made to feel completely welcome and 'at home'. I didn't want to leave my room at all, just to relax, so I ordered a decious dinner from Room Service, which I ate while I enjoyed my room's fabulous view over Market St to Chinatown and over the rooftops around Union Square all the way up to Nob Hill. My bathroom was perfect, lots of room and everything I needed for a relaxing soak in the bath. Best of all was the bed, huge and so incredibly comfortable, heaped with luxuriously soft bed linens and pillows. I had a wonderful, perfect stay at the Four Seasons. I'll be back!

Great Night at the Orchard Garden Hotel

  • Rita 'n Roger
  • Dec 24, 2012
We were greeted warmly at the desk when we arrived hours before the official check-in time at this newish hotel located in the heart of downtown San Francisco. We were immediately given a room that was ready and everything was explained quickly and thoroughly regarding our room, checkout time, room key which turned on the electricity only when it was placed into a slot just inside the room. We were impressed that it was a "green" hotel and the staff made every effort to be energy efficient. The room itself was smallish which was fine with us because it was immaculate, and the bed was so comfortable that my husband and I slept 8 hours that night--rare for us even in our own home! Justine and Bina at the front desk helped us with our directions, the best shopping in downtown San Francisco, and were very professional as well as friendly. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Description
Historic grandeur overlooking the Golden Gate City This Nob Hill mainstay, dating back to 1907, blends contemporary and historic tastes. Decorative touches such as marble floors and Corinthian columns evoke turn-of-the-century grandeur, while modern conveniences such as high-speed Internet and a full-service fitness center and spa keep travelers grounded in the present. Three well-regarded restaurants offer options for every meal, and the city's oldest Tiki bar provides a break from the formality of the hotel. HighlightsThe hilltop location delivers panoramic and breathtaking views of San Francisco BayHop on any one of the city's cable cars right out frontUnion Square shopping is only a four-block walk from the hotel Rooms Accommodations -- 591 rooms, 62 of them suites -- span two buildings: the original, circa-1907 structure and a tower built in the 1960s. Rooms vary in size (325-425 square feet; up to 6,000 for suites), but all come with flat-screen televisions, Frette luxury linens, MP3 docking stations and Miller Harris toiletries. Many also offer stunning views of San Francisco Bay, while Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available in all (fees apply). Features The hotel has received numerous awards, including the AAA Four Diamond Award and ExxonMobil Four Star Award. Marble floors and Corinthian columns trimmed in gold accentuate the ornate Main Lobby. This area, spruced up in 1999, transports guests back to 1907, when the hotel opened. It may also transport TV fans back to the 1980s: Aaron Spelling's "Hotel" series was shot here. The United Nations Charter was drafted in the hotel, and even the concierge service is historic. Dating back to 1973, it's the first formal concierge desk in the U.S. All guests have access (fees apply) to the on-site Club One at Nob Hill Health Club, a full-service facility with spa and fitness center. Holiday visit...

  • East Bay Getaway
  • Dec 17, 2012
The Fairmont is a great place to base a visit to San Francisco at any time of year. Lots of hustle and bustle particularly during Christmas/Holiday season. Surprisingly, you have to request coffee set up in your room in advance. When we ordered a pot of coffee, it did not arrive for over an hour and only after we called about the order to Room Service. They did comp us for the coffee, however. But it remains a beautiful hotel albeit a pricey option.

  • Sep 16, 2012
This hotel is primarily geared to business travelers since it is located in the financial rather than touristic area. The beds and rooms are super-comfortable, very important for jet-lagged travelers. Classic contemporary decor with nice art work. Near good restaurants, many of which are closed on weekend. Would definitely return, near Chinatown, North Beach, Ferry Terminal. Much quieter than tourist throngs in Union Square area.

Nautical-themed luxury in National Park at Fisherman's Wharf In partnership with the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, the Kimpton-owned Argonaut Hotel makes its home in the circa-1907 Haslett Warehouse, next to the historic Cannery building. Decor here is all about a nautical theme -- compasses, sails, rigging and ship wheels. The maritime motif continues in the on-site restaurant, the Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar. Many guestrooms also feature views of Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge. Highlights San Francisco Maritime National Historical ParkWalk to Ghirardelli Square or The PresidioHosted evening wine hourSpectacular views of the Golden Gate BridgeSavory chowder at the on-site restaurant and bar Rooms The Argonaut's accommodations truly celebrate history. Many of the 252 rooms and 13 suites include original exposed brick walls, large timbers and warehouse steel doors. Other details, such as whitewashed furniture and Captain's-style desk chairs, pay homage to the waterfront's nautical past. All rooms come standard with coffeemakers, Sony WEGA flat-screen televisions, honor bars, Aveda bath products and laptop-sized safes. Six rooms feature extra-long beds and higher shower heads for taller guests. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available in all rooms (fees apply). Pets welcome (fees apply). Features The Argonaut shares the Haslett Warehouse with the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park's Visitor Center and Interactive Museum, which is dedicated to West Coast maritime history and the story of Fisherman's Wharf. The museum features a Farallon Island lighthouse lens and a shipwrecked boat. The adjacent Hyde Street Pier features a fleet of national historic landmark ships.   Inside the Argonaut itself, the on-site fitness center (open 24 hours) is complimentary. Spa services ranging from massage to facials and nail work are available in-room. The hotel also offers a hosted evening wine hour featuring local wines in the lobby area, known as the "Living Room."   The Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar -- the on-site restaurant -- serves casual fare and a hearty helping of Gold Era ambiance. Eco-friendly hotel near Union Square and steps from cable cars As its name suggests, the residential-style Orchard Hotel is all about the environment. The boutique hotel was San Francisco's first hotel to become LEED-EB certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, and it continues to tout a number of eco-friendly programs today. The hotel was built in 2000, and rooms still feel brand-new. Daffodil, the on-site restaurant, serves a variety of cuisines from all over the world. Highlights Eco-friendly programs and organic bath productsWalk to shopping at Union Square and Westfield Centre mallComplimentary business and fitness centers Rooms Relax and rejuvenate in one of the Orchard's 104 rooms, including nine suites. Armoires feature state-of-the-art DVD and CD entertainment centers and 27-inch flat-screen televisions. Guests will find large work desks, complimentary high-speed Internet and Wi-Fi and fully stocked mini-bars. Designed specifically for the Orchard, most of the furniture is made of wood from Bali. Bathrooms boast organic bath products. Features The Orchard opened in 2000, making it one of the newest boutique hotels in San Francisco. When it opened, it became the city's first LEED-EB certified hotel. Since then, the property has collected a number of other accolades for its commitment to eco-friendly practices. The Orchard continues to refine its approach to green. Art is a common theme inside; a bronze-cast statue entitled "Spring Awakening" welcomes visitors to the lobby, and paintings and photographs in hallways upstairs are from local artists. While the on-site fitness is complimentary, guests also have access to a handful of independent fitness facilities within walking distance (fees apply). Dining Daffodil, the eclectic on-site eatery, pairs seasonal and local organic cuisine with wines from all over the world. Excellent location

  • May 20, 2012
This hotel is very well located. It is two streets from Fisherman's wharf and one street from a cable car terminus. The number 30 bus stops right outside. Easy walk to ferry tours, bike hire close by. The hotel is a converted apartment building and the rooms are actually apartments with bedroom, large living room, kitchen, etc. Apart from difficulties with the wifi reception in my room on the third floor, I thought the hotel was excellent. There is an excellent open rooftop area with a great view of fisherman's wharf and port areas.

Our arrival and check-in was the low point of our visit. The desk clerk was not as helpful as she could have been with parking directions and advice. That is the only negative. This place is spacious, well-equipped, clean and located in a great part of SF. Parking in the hotel garage was reasonable at $20/night. I recommend it to others as a good deal and very nice experience.

Quiet, relaxing, romantic

We were very pleased with Jackson Court- we had our windows open the whole time we were there, and it was amazingly quiet. We were pretty close to all the places we wanted to go, and Fillmore Street- 2 blocks away- offers continuous bus service as well as shops, restaurants, small food stores, coffee shops. Comfortable bed, clean room, good service. The Inn kitchen was a big plus for us- guests have access to a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster. After busy days, we sometimes brought back food to eat, and being able to heat things up, have plates and silverware was great! Continental breakfast in the kitchen each morning- very nice. Highly recommended.

This was a great hotel for couples who like something a little retro and slightly hipster! Very colorful hotel. The location is great! Right across the street from Chinatown and only a cable car away from Fisherman's Wharf! It's in Union Square where all the shopping is! The staff was also wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

When I first walked in I though the room smelled funny, but my friend, who is a local, told me that's normal for old buildings in SF. The staff was very friendly, made you feel like your were their only guest. Going back to the room, it was nice and small. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Anniversary Getaway

  • KCBS
  • Oct 17, 2012
We chose the Mark Hopkins to stay at for our one year wedding anniversary trip to SF. When we checked in I asked for a room on a high floor to take advantage of the views, the front desk said all they could do was floor 6 and I was slightly disappointed but figured it would be okay. When we got to our room we were so disappointed, it was at the end of the hallway crammed into a corner with an adjoining door. I made my husband do something we have NEVER done before and call the front desk and ask for another room. They said they had a room available outside of the elevator on the same floor and we agreed to take it. When we opened the door to the 2nd room it was amazing; spacious with a huge bathroom, plenty of room around the bed and great views outside of 2 windows. I was just surprised that when asking for a special room we were given something small and cramped when something else was available. Other then that our 2 night stay was fantastic. Definitely check out the views at the Top of the Mark bar and DEFINITELY ask to be switched to a different room if you are not pleased with your original. I don't think I would stay here again due to its location (at the top of a steep hill) but no complaints otherwise.
