It has a unique feel, as if you're entering a Kindergarten classroom with all the whimsical decor -- it's bright, spacious, clean and the people are very friendly. Loved the room and the amenities -- the gym is small but on the treadmill it has a great view of the city. Will definitely stay there again.

The location was good, close to transportation and within walking distance to most of the local attractions. Room was clean and basic. Suggestions for improvement would include the continental breakfast: mainly junk food but not much nutritious. Instant coffee was a huge disappointment in the morning.

My choices for my budget were: cruddy hotel in a nice area or a nice hotel in a cruddy area. This is a cruddy hotel in a nice area. I was not disappointed at what I got since my expectations weren't very high. The room was clean, it smelled fine and there were no bed bugs. All good things. This is about 2 miles from the Golden Gate and the same from the wharf. Theres plenty of food nearby. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, was willing to direct my wife and I to the nearest attractions and even let us keep our bags on site after checkout since our flight wasn't until later in the day. All I need is a clean room and a bed for a low price and that's what I got. I would stay again.

We arrived from NYC during spring break and was not disappointed. The Queen Anne takes you back to its origin to 1890 with its Victorian architecture and lovely antiques. The staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were cozy and it is walking distance from Union Square and public transportation. I recommend purchasing the Citypass online before your trip, especially if your new to the city. You'll save almost 50% off 5 of San Francisco's most famous attractions. In addition we also took unlimited rides on the muni and cable cars with our Citypass which made our trip easy and enjoyable. I would definitely return to The Queen Anne B & B on my next trip! :)

Everyone at the Laurel was great. The front desk staff was fantastic. The Swank lounge was really fun - had great drinks. The hotel itself is an older building and they made a lot of cosmetic changes to try and make it "swanky" but it was slightly odorous (like moldly/stale) in the room. It was a perfect location for my weekend seminar in Laurel Heights. I'm rating this fairly high based on the staff and how hard they worked :-)

Always a Pleasant Stay

  • Korakia
  • Feb 13, 2012
I just got back from a 9-day trip in San Francisco and this was my 4th or 5th time staying at the Laurel Inn. The pros: Staff is friendly and helpful; breakfast items and beverages are served in the lobby every morning and homemade cookies and coffee/tea in the afternoon; rooms are spacious and comfortable and bedding is of good quality; location is close enough to the different neighborhoods that one could walk, take a bus, or drive. Also it's an easy and fairly quick drive from the hotel to the Golden Gate Bridge for access to Marin County (about 10 mins or less without traffic). It's not close to downtown but I stay away from that area so that's never bothered me. Finally, there's ample garage parking included with your stay. The cons: Bathrooms are clean but in need of updating/remodeling (very odd, since the rest of the hotel appears rather modern and sleek), and traffic and noise from the street side of the hotel is somewhat loud. Other than that, it's always a pleasant stay here and I have no complaints. I'd recommend it for the budget- conscious traveller who requires comfort and (aside from the bathrooms), a touch of modern class.

Hotel was nice. It's located on Lombard Street so its very noisy with all the cars passing by. On our second night, the young guys in the next room were very loud so we had to call the reception desk. The staff is very friendly and asked them to keep it down. On a clear day, we could see the Golden Gate Bridge from our room. Overall, I liked the Luna Inn and would recommend it.

My trip to San Francisco was great! Loved staying at La Luna. The room was big and had a good size bathroom. The location was a little further away from where I was spending most of my time, but it was really easy to get a taxi. I really should have looked into the other modes of public transportation. Overall great experience. Only a little problem checking in. My reservation wasnt showing up[...]

Cozy and quaint.

  • rianait
  • Dec 12, 2012
I've stayed here twice. The first time was great! I had a deluxe room on the 2nd floor furthest away from Lombard Street. It was so quiet and peaceful and the room was quaint and cozy. I just came back from my second visit, and this time I had a room facing Octavia St. but closest to Lombard. It was much, much noisier. The hotel definitely needs updating in furniture (there were rips in the wallpaper, and the furniture has seen better days), but if you're looking for a decent place to stay in a beautiful area of town, this is it! ~7 minute walk to the wharf and a single bus ride away from Union Square. It's a quiet, safe neighborhood with some great restaurants around, and far away from the panhandlers in Union Square. Also, the staff is excellent! Friendly and accommodating! They'll even hold your luggage before you check in and after you check out. Note: No coffee maker or microwave in the rooms. But there's a Safeway around the corner and a Trader Joe's by the wharf. Free continental breakfast is served until 10am.

The hotel was more than adequate, although the building was of the older variety. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful with every aspect of our stay. The only problem we had was with the hotel's wifi. Other than that, everything was a charm.

Great, easy to get to location, especially if driving.

Easy access from the 101, right on Lombard street. Close to Fisherman's Wharf and hot neighborhoods. Staff was helpful. The beds are comfortable, and the only grip we had was that the room was smoking when we requested non-smoking.

Good place to eat, sleep and get on the go

My boyfriend and I were in need of a good vacation. San Francisco was our destination. We wanted to look for a good and in our budget type of place. Ramada Limited San Francisco was perfect. We wanted a place that included parking because we planned to park and leave the truck there while we stayed. (it is first come first serve though) We used public transportation which was great because the main buses that take you everywhere were right around the corner. The staff was very helpful when we needed directions or any additional questions about the room. Plus they let us check in early. Breakfast was sufficient and for the price of the room we had nothing to complain about. EXCEPT for one night when we heard the complete argument between a mother and daughter. - but then again it was Saint Patrick Day weekend. Drunk people everywhere! But anything you need is close by. There is plenty of bars around and the neighborhood is nice. There is a Safeway down the street to buy booze or food. Overall I would stay there again and I would recommend it for a short weekend trip to anyone. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!

Quiet, relaxing, romantic

We were very pleased with Jackson Court- we had our windows open the whole time we were there, and it was amazingly quiet. We were pretty close to all the places we wanted to go, and Fillmore Street- 2 blocks away- offers continuous bus service as well as shops, restaurants, small food stores, coffee shops. Comfortable bed, clean room, good service. The Inn kitchen was a big plus for us- guests have access to a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster. After busy days, we sometimes brought back food to eat, and being able to heat things up, have plates and silverware was great! Continental breakfast in the kitchen each morning- very nice. Highly recommended.

Check in was fine , front desk was friendly. No problems checking in. Room was spacious but needed painting , new carpet. Wires were exposed. parking was minimal but I was able to park in lot for my stay. Location is fantastic . Sheets and towels were very clean. Great place if you are just looking for a place to come back to at night. Needs to lower price for condition of motel.

It is located very close to the Presidio and the Exploritorium. It is clean and good for the price. The staff were friendly. They only had juice and coffee in the lobby. Very loud street noise so be sure to pack earplugs!!

A great San Francisco secret !

  • Michael George
  • May 27, 2012
We have been staying at this hotel each time we visit San Francisco (once or twice a year) for fifteen years. It is off the main part of Lombard St. and all its noise. One block away is the Presidio Park, and a scenic public bus ride to downtown and the Embarcadero area. There are two public buses that take you downtown, through an upscale shopping and restaurant area all the way down Union St. There are also amazing views of the bay along the ride. This hotel is located in the Marina District of the city. A ten minute walk through some beautiful neighborhoods will take you to the Exploratorium and the San Francisco Bay where you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz , and a yacht club. You can actually walk along the water from the Golden Gate Bridge, pass the Fisherman's Wharf all the way down to the Embarcadero. All the best sights for FREE. So, if your looking for a quiet place to stay and you do not need exercise rooms, swimming pools, restaurants in your hotel, this place is for you. There are so many great restaurants nearby, you will not miss a hotel restaurant. We do not spend our vacations in a hotel all day and all night. We enjoy visiting the places that make a city famous. The staff in the Presidio Travelodge are very helpful and courteous.

Staff: NOT ok. - Breakfast starts @ 8am. The guy woke up slowly and opened the door to the lobby @ 8:15, then started putting food... ready @ 8:30! - Gave me a smoking room ( I asked for non-smoking). When I told him he said that it WAS non smoking.. after I stood there staring at him (and his wife) he gave me the non-smoking room!

I couldn't really expect much from this hotel given the price we paid. The room was pretty nice though. But the walls were pretty thin. When I went downstairs to ask for more towels and the manager opened the storage room door, I saw a mouse scurrying about. That made me uneasy. But for 2 nights in the city, it wasn't that bad. Parking was free, which was a bonus, but the parking is limited. Location was great and was pretty central to all of the tourist attractions.

Good time

My daughter and I came here while visiting University of San Francisco. It met our needs perfectly. The room was very clean but it was old. The neighborhood was safe and it was right next door to the Presidio. Plenty of great restaurants in walking distance. The bus noise at night might bother a light sleeper but not us. Parking is limited but we didn't have any problems getting a space everytime.

The room was spotless and cleaned everyday by noon. The motel was generally quiet. It's an easy walk to Peet's coffee and lots of good reataurants.
