It is centrally located for access to many things to see and do whole in San diego. It is also near the water which is also nice. I am happy I picked this hotel and would like to return to that hotel when in San Diego.
The only issue I had was the fact they charge 20.00 a night for parking when that should be included in the stay as they have ample parking.

Hotel was fine, beds comfortable. Bathroom fan made noise but that was all it did. Bathroom smells lingered for hours literally as did shower humidity . Windows of room dripping with moisture, too too humid. Otherwise, great location. Also, my 80 year old parents needed shuttle to airport but were told that with MCRD graduation, their staff would be too busy to provide that service on. That day.

My wife and I decided to travel to the San Diego market on q whim and were very pleased when we checked in. This hotel offers a great location, convenient to the beach with a fantastc staff. The only downside is the absence of nicer restaurants within walking distance. In general we were very pleased and are planning our next stay for the same location.

We enjoyed the resort and the Pacific Beach neighborhood. Very lively beach community. The hotel is older and doesn't have all the amenities of a five-star hotel (eg, room refrigerator), but the location and pricing were hard to beat. Parking was $13/day, self-parking, more for valet. Easy driving access to downtown, Sea World, La Jolla coastline. Easy walking access to Pacific Beach and Mission Beach waterfront. If you just want to relax and not do all the San Diego tourist options, you could have a good time without a car. The resort has rental options for bicycles, skates, etc.

Nice hotel!

The hotel was very nice and had lots of amenities which we unfortunately weren't able to take advantage of because of the weather. This location was quite convenient to all local atractions but If I go back to San Diego again, I would probably choose to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter because of the better choice of restaurants, etc.
The staff was great and the room was very clean. We were upgraded to a deluxe room when we arrived which was nice because of the private balcony. One bad thing was that our time on the 9th floor was next to the elevator shaft which was noisy.
All in all, this was a good value and I would recommend.

Mission Bay's best kept secret
-
Th3Third
- Jun 5, 2012
The hotel was great, long story short:
Pros:
*Awesome view of the ocean and bay when returning from shopping (drive from the nearby shopping plaza and you have an amazing view of the beach/ocean/bay area)
*Freeway access to beach, you don't even need to merge or exit, and the hotel is located 4 miles North of San Diego International airport
*Pool and hot tub-speaks for itself, and the pool is heated
*Continental breakfast-saves money and time, excellent choice of food
*HDTV/cable
*WiFi-not the best connection, but it saved on our cell phone data plan
*Free parking
*Extremely helpful and friendly staff
-Cons-
*Room needed some repairs, the door to the room was bowed pretty bad, and even though it locked, it didn't seem very secure
*Toilet would leak on occasion
*Room was pretty small, I'm assuming this is typical for any California destination
*The provided soap and shampoo was terrible, would definitely advise buying or bringing your own
By staying at this hotel, we saved at least 800$ compared to a beachfront location that was only two miles away, it's an extremely convenient location, and had the room been in better shape, I would have given it a 4 star, I hate rating it a 3 out of 5, because the staff was great, the free breakfast was amazing, and it's really hard to beat the price based on its convenient location, I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody without any regrets or second thoughts., and would have definitely given it a 4 out of 5 if the room would have been in better shape.

Description
The beloved Italian island of Capri, frequented by both Augustus and Mariah Carey (he a former Roman emperor, she a contemporary R&B queen), is now within commoners' reach with San Diego's Capri by the Sea, a stateside substitute that gives the real thing a run for its lira.
Enjoy la dolce vita in our spacious, modern one- and two-bedroom condos. Serving up panoramic views through double-sliding oceanfront doors, the abode is complemented by modern, clean, comfy decor.
Wake up to the sound of crashing waves, then cook breakfast in your fully appointed kitchen. It's likely to be bellisima outside, so head downstairs and step directly onto the boardwalk that runs along this famous stretch of Pacific Beach.
It's oh-so-European to bike everywhere, but give it a Cali twist as you flip-flop your way through the area while soaking up that famous sunshine and checking out sumptuous coastal homes.
Then hop on a bike or strap on some roller blades for a refreshing jaunt up to La Jolla. You're also perfectly situated to get wild at SeaWorld or the San Diego Zoo-just bring an extra set of clothes in case you're in the splash zone at the ever-popular Shamu show.
Back at your seaside retreat, take a dip in the heated outdoor pool or head up to the rooftop terrace for a breathtaking sunset-then whip up a mouthwatering meal on the provided grill, or stroll over to local restaurants and bars.
Bravo! You've just found a piece of paradise without the plane ticket.
Premium suites: Enhance your stay by experiencing our premium-rated suites featuring recently remodeled condos with upscale furnishing and fixtures, deluxe bedding, a flat screen TV & DVD player, custom hard surface countertops, upgraded flooring, and more.
Standard suites: Guests in a standard unit can expect clean and comfortable accommodations. While all units must pass our minimum standards program, older or dated furnishings, dcor, and amenities can be expected.

The view doesn't get any better than this. On our last day, we saw the most amazing dolphin show right from our balcony. 20+ dolphins practically swimming alongside the surfers. And it wasn't just a minute or two. They stayed for a half hour at least. Incredible! We just stumbled upon this location and we really loved it. If you want to be right in the thick of downtown action, this isn't the place for you, but if you like a more relaxed vacation, this is great. Halfway inbetween Mission Beach and La Jolla, the Mission Beach boardwalk continues right past the property. There are lots of restaurants & stores within walking distance. Or you can take public transportation (30 bus connects to the public trolley/bus system) from here into the hills of LaJolla or the opposite direction, into downtown SanDiego. Or you can drive to downtown/airport in about 15 minutes. You get an assigned parking space in the property's lot - included in the price. We ate out most of the time, but there's a fully equipped kitchen and several grocery stores nearby, so you wouldn't have to. Our only issue was that the couch & loveseat were a little old/uncomfortable, but since we chose to stay in one of the less expensive units, that might be expected.

Got a corner room 1012, which is nice b/c the second bdrm window also had seaside views. In fact, all the condos have seaside views, but the 2nd bdrm is facing the city. So unless you're on the corners, your 2nd bdrm really doesn't have much of a view. Clean and well furnished. Our room had cable TV and wifi. There's a washer and dryer on each flr. When checking in at night your keys are left w/ the security guard at the front desk, which isn't a problem. I would stay again, amazing views and good living arrangements.

In between the steady energy of Mission Beach, and the traditional elegance of La Jolla, lies Pacific Beaches Seacoast Palms Inn, the perfect mix of casual and convenient. Just steps from the sandy shores of the Pacific Ocean, this San Diego beach community has become the ideal destination for sunbathers and family vacationers alike. Friendly attitudes and an old surfer style make the Seacoast Palms Inn the perfect Southern California destination to relax under the sun. The hotel is within walking distance of multiple shopping and dining options.

We arrived on Friday night and stayed till Sunday morning. The room smelled old. And the coffee maker didn't work in the room. But the location was exactly what we wanted. Close to the beach and to the zoo and sea world. The price of the room was excellent considering we would rather spend our money on activities rather than a room to sleep. I would recommend this place.

my husband and i planned a long weekend to san diego. neither of us have been so the first time experience was thrilling. easy location of motel from the airport. nice and quiet location. the best part its literally a 1 min. walk to the beach. beautiful walking sights, surfers, joggers. the long long walkway goes for miles behind local bars, restaurants, beautiful homes, shops etc. then you can walk right back to your room. its right on a main strip and literally 7 mins from downtown la jolla which is great for seal watching, restaurants, shops, and beautiful sunsets. this is a location we will visit again and again. great little jewel for a great price.

Overall the stay at Surfer Beach hotel was average. I was very happy to have a full kitchenette in the unit from there the ammenaties went down hill. The internet connection was the worst I've ever had, worse than when dial up was first invented and the TV reception was subpar. But most people don't go to the beach for internet and TV. Front desk staff (owner?) could use some people skills...not very friendly, happy or smiling, just matter-of-fact. Facility must have been wonderful when new, now it needs some TLC. It's very close to where my relatives live but next trip I will check out some of the other hotels very close by before making another reservation for this one. When asked how our stay was as we were leaving, I commented that it was rather noisy (ice machine right outside). He made no comment, just kept on completing the check-out.

The hotel definitely served it's purpose. We didn't go to pacific beach for cable tv and a free breakfast buffet. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and you really couldn't beat the location. My biggest complaint is that there was no fitness area, and that the bathrooms didn't have a ventilation system (definitely a problem when sharing 2 bathrooms between 5 men). All in all, a good decision... I'd def do it again.
