A great location for all points around the Monterey Area.
The breakfast was the usual Cereal, Rolls Coffee & Juice. We ate in our room a couple of times due to limited seating in the breakfast area.
The room was very quiet except when the room above flushed the toilet.
The room was our home for a week and was overall very nice.

The room was nice and clean. We had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. This made it easy to have a meal in the room rather than going out. We were too busy going back and forth to my niece's wedding to think about going out to eat. The breakfast offered at the motel was excellent.

This hotel is a great place to stay when visiting the Monterey/Carmel areas. It is on the bay with a lovely little beach that goes all around to the Monterey wharf (3.5 mi) if you are so inclined to walk. It has a nice cafe with excellent food, but be prepared to wait as the service is extremely slow. Rooms are clean. We like the beds because each has 4 fluffy pillows and a great thick comforter. Two down sides to this hotel: You have to pay a daily fee for parking. And, we had trouble getting the room to heat up. Take a sweater and some warm sock just in case.

The room was very basic. If you are looking to spend time in your room just for sleeping and changing of clothes this is the hotel for you. The staff were very nice and treated us with respect.

This hotel was an older property, and the room had a strong disinfectant odor when first opening the door to our room, but the staff was friendly, the hotel room and lounge were very clean. It was also a very large room. We were very comfortable and the location was convenient to all of Monterey Bay--and the price cannot be beat.

Front desk was friendly and helpful! Free breakfast snacks in tr morning. Waited for us on a late check-in. I often stay at westin, Hilton, and other nice hotels. You get what you pay for. I did not spend much time in room and had extra money for great food and wine!

Great experience! Quiet, convenient, and friendly staff. My wife and I have payed ALOT more for rooms in Monterey and this place was quieter and cleaner than some 3 and 4 star accomadations. The rooms are on the smaller side but it was perfect for our needs.

Good location, within walking distance to the Monterey Fair Grounds. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was good, and the pool was open. Everything was clean and in working condition.
Only downside was the lack of an air conditioner. It got pretty warm in out room and we had no way to cool off besides opening the windows.

Last Minute Hotel Change

As the title implies, booking at the Monterey Travellodge was a last minute event. Due to a family emergency, we ended up having to travel with two small dogs. We had to switch hotels and picked Travellodge because of their pet policy. We had a very late check-in at 10:30 PM due travel issues. The staff was great. They were very friendly and attentive. The facility is older and looks a little worn but rooms were comfortable. The price was great that included a continental breakfast. My two issues are: no pet area (not everyone picked up after their dog) and the room still had floor deodizer on the carpet when we checked in.

Was impressed with the lovely garden feel. Room was nice, clean and roomy. Breakfast room was not adequate for the size of hotel. The power went off in bathrrom in evening & staff didn't know how to resore it, only offered to have us move to another room.

Very unfriendly people. Aircondition didn't work. No closet to put your clothes. Breakfast was terrible and late. We wouldn't stay there again!

It is a nice basic motel. A lot like a Travelodge, nothing fancy but clean and cheaper than most places. Free Wi-Fi but was having some problems throughout our stay.

Not much of a view and a little noise but comfortsble and clean and inexpensive. Short drive to downtown, restaurants, beach and sights. Friendly receprtion staff.

La Quinta Hotel in Monterey, CA location was right off the highway and easy to get to. There is a very nice state beach across the road; a great place for a walk or to watch the sunset. The facility was clean and quiet. The only problem we had was the room smelled very musty. The carpet in the bedroom was old and stained. The bathroom was totally new, very clean. The continental breakfast was great, too. If the carpet didn't smell so bad our stay would have been more pleasant.

Nice building with flowers, rooms very small but clean. Nothing special at all, but very good price for a comfortable stay very close to everything in Monterey.
Only strange thing: they charge you 2 USD/day for the safe and yo can get the money back (it that works.....) if yoz don't use the safe (How will the know...?)

Enough to sleep in.

We went to monterey to see the aquarium. The room we stayed in had 2 queen beds. There was hardly any room to walk around. The thermostat didn't work. We couldn't get the air conditioning to work. The heater was a wall heater. The bathroom was alright. Had some mold on tiles. The fan in the bathroom made a horrible sound like it was ready to blow up. The front window had a crack in it. The door was very hard to shut. Everyone had to slam the door to make close all the way.
Now the good.... The room had quiet a few channels from comcast. So that was good. The room was good enough for us to sleep in and shower. The front of the hotel was beautiful. Very pretty flowers and very healthy bushes. The landscaping was wonderful. It was close to the aquarium, Denny's, an Italian dinner, and gas station. There was an adult store right across the street. Which was surprising to see. Lots of hotels all on the street.

My husband and I have stayed at the El Castell every September for the Jazz Festival and we have started staying there for other trips to Monterey. It is a basic, clean motel. We are alway too busy to spend a lot of time in a motel room and we don't need a fancy motel room when all we do is shower and sleep there. The staff is nice and accommodating.

I stayed three nights with my Miniature Schnauzer, Sparky. The staff was friendly and the Motel 6 location was perfect for visiting my family who live nearby. It was clean, peaceful, and quiet with plenty of hot water for showers. A funny loud sound occurred two of the three mornings between 6 and 7 am. It sounded like a vacuum sealer being applied to one of those jars of coffee beans like I have at home. It was loud, but brief. No other loud sounds were heard while I stayed there. I will go back again. There is no in-room coffee, which would have been nice.
