The outdoor fitness center was a big drawback particularly, in 95 degree weather.
The room air conditioner didn't cool sufficiently. Otherwise, it was a great experience. Lovely hotel with a top notch staff!

Great place and location. The building is a work of art. But what made the trip memorable was the staff. The staff at the Ritz Carlton could not do enough for us all with a huge smile. We'll be back.

Booked a 1 night stay after watching a show at Nokia Theater. It was a birthday gift to my bf coz he wanted to stay at the Ritz-Carlton for his birthday. It is a great hotel with a couple of extra perks to make your stay more comfortable (tv in the bathroom, house slippers, dental kit, comb, q-tips etc). The rooms have gorgeous contemporary decor, which is my style so yes, I enjoyed my stay. Bf promised me a longer stay next time.
But is it really worth the price? Well, I am not easy to please but even I said 'wow' a few times. My bf really appreciated the surprise, which made it well, well worth it.
But but but....I guess money is one of the tools society uses to classify different items and set them apart as superior. The Ritz-Carlton is up there.
Honestly, unless money is no object to you, there are lots of great++ hotels around the area for half the price.

Awesome family vacation experience

This is what you called a FIVE STAR HOTEL. My wife, two kids and I stayed at Mr. C for a week in October 2012 for a family vacation and I must admit that this is by far the best hotel we've ever been to. The room is extremely cozy and comfortable. Amenities depicts italian style and you will love it. The staff (incl. valet guys# are extremely friendly and they will make you feel like a king. The only downside #which is NOT a negative impact on the hotel itself) is you will be standout due to the type of people that stays at this hotel, and the type of cars they drive. You'll see $250K cars in and out of this hotel i.e. benze, lambo, ferrari, etc. I recommend renting a bmw or a mercedes if you stay at Mr. C so you can easily blend in with the other high class folks. You might run into a celebrity here. Great place to stay at a great price. We will definitely stay here for the next time we are in LA.

If I ever stay in LA and somehow DON'T stay at the Bel Air...
Stick a bullet in my head.
I'd done the Peninsula, Beverly Wilshire, Standard on Sunset, and even the St. Regis in Monarch Beach/Dana Point.
What was I thinking???
The Bel Air is the best place I've ever stayed in LA, possibly in the country.
Service, the rooms, the $100mm new upgrade, the food at Wolfgang Puck...everything's off-the-charts great and really at a whole new level from accommodations anywhere else in LA.

From the moment we arrived it felt like we were in paradise. The hotel grounds are the most beautiful in Los Angeles, the staff extremely attentive and dedicated to taking care of us, the food (by Wolfgang Puck) was artfully created and delicious. The rooms have been renovated and updated with marble and the high tech features don't really blend very well with the ambiance of the hotel. Loved it!

Beautiful hotel. Nice room. Clean. Decent view. Wasn't the biggest room but it was comfortable. Could clearly hear the 'woo' girls next door at 3 a.m. Note to self, get a room without an adjoining door. Good location. A few blocks away from the Staples Center / L.A. Live / Nokia Theatre. Lots of good food within walking distance. A bit overpriced for what you get.

The hotel had a great gym and indoor pool.
The room was clean, and the shower head was really nice.
The location is great, and parking at Pershing Square is much cheaper than the valet.
The only negative really was bed comfort was so-so.

The Athletic Club is decorated in dark woods, deep reds and leather furniture. Imagine an upper class man cave where one would smoke cigars and sip on Expensive Brandy. The walls are decorated with vintage photos of the history of the club. Very nice. Parking is $12 and the parking garage is next to the hotel. The staff at check in were very friendly, however the rest of the staff are not and don't speak unless spoken to. The room was decorated in dark grays and burgundy with 2 leather chairs, a computer desk, iPhone alarm clock that does charge and a mini fridge. WiFi is complementary. They also leave a plate of fruit and cheese which I placed in the fridge for the next morning. Very nice. The Breakfast Buffett is also complementary and was small but very good. Checkout was @ 1pm. Awesome. Upon exit our parking ticket did not work to exit and I had to show the parking attendant my parking voucher from check in. Very important not to lose that. Overall I liked the Hotel and would recommend it for singles and couples but definitely not a place for children.

I was anticipating a "typical" business hotel, but was pleasantly surprised with the boutique nature of this place. The hotel portion of the LACC is well appointed with a boutique atmosphere. The gym/athletic facilities are top rate, with an old-school style (but definitely not shabby). The hotel employees were professional and friendly. I will definitely return during my next LA trip.

Only stayed one night, but service was good, price was decent and facilities were well maintained. Room had a slightly funky odor to it, but I imagine it wasn't typical of the rest. Overall impression was that there was nothing particularly wrong with the hotel - would certainly stay there again but it also didn't strike me as one of the better places I've been to.

Seriously? charging for WIFI
-
Anonymous
- Jun 30, 2011
The stay at the hotel was perfectly fine - well appointed, courteous staff, appropriate for the level this Marriott in downtown LA would attract. But seriously...charging for WIFI for a $240/night room is frankly absurb and insulting. WIFI is free at nearly every mid-priced hotel chain in the country now, including Marriott Courtyards. It felt like the incessant "asks" for upgrades and additional services that you get when checking in at the airline kiosks now. It just pisses off your customers. Stop it.

We came to the Wilshire for a weekend in LA. The location is amazing! Close to Beverly hills, Weho and UCLA where we attended a concert.
The rooftop pool was also awesome. Sipping on cappuccinos in the morning while chilling by the pool and all of that with a Hollywood sign view.
The points to improve are:
-Room cleanliness. Let me explain, the room was very clean when we go there, but once inside the room, the daily service would be bare minimum (making the bed and re-hanging towels).
- Rooftop bar service. I know you guys are packed, but waiting 40 minutes for a cappuccino is not an option.
I would definitely come back here! But next time I'll have my cappuccino prior to hitting the pool.

I enjoyed the four days and nights I spent at the Sofitell Hotel very much. My accomodations were very satisfactory , commodious and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and ready to help with any problem. I appreciated their attention because I am old and disabled. Everyone I spoke to on the staff seemed to know who I was. The restaurant served tastefull, satisfying and nutritious food, well prepared and well served. As far as I am concerned, I looked forward with great anticipation to eating my breakfast there each day.

It was overall a very good experience. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The TV was very big and had an HDMI input which let me stream some Netflix on the free wifi. The fitness center was small, but that's ok.

Sleepy in Loews
- Nov 14, 2012
Everything is great about the Hotel except the noise level. I was there on a weekend and both friday and saturday were really noisy. They had loud parties on the 6th floor conference rooms (I was on the 7th floor). It is definitely not a hotel to relax and sleep early, unless you are located on the area far from the middle of the hotel. They have a few of these rooms but they were booked so I couldn't move. Thank God I did not have the kids with me.
No other complaints about it. (oh, Spa not that great and service was ok, not worth the $.)

the amenities are lovely.; the setting is desirable; the structure is nicely laid-out for a beachside and pooll/resort hotel. The wait staff was consistently less than helpful. I'm referring to restaurant and bar staffing. They are not accommodating and seem rude or disinterested. this was such a consistent problem that it seems there must be some management problem in that area.
Also, menus need a liitle up-dating.
Cleaning of room could have been better.

This place gave me the best experience i've ever had at a hotel! The staff was beyond friendly, and went out of their way to accomodate me and my best friend during our stay. The $25 a day parking fee was the only downside, but the customer service made up for it!

This hotel was great. Star treatment (even stayed near a few real stars) the whole time. The only downsides were pricey hotel meals, paying for valet parking, and it wasn't within a walk to food or buget dining options. Traffic in LA is horrible period but you don't really notice it much if you travel in between rush hours to Santa Monica or Downtown. Took about 20 minutes to get to most places. You need a car for sure. It's also within three miles to Westwood, a fun going out place with bars, etc., and that means the hotel shuttle will take you. This hotel would be a perfect summer/spring getaway hotel and the price was definitely worth it.
Prices reflect the lowest "base rate" found over the next 30 days. Rates are subject to change and may not include taxes and fees, hotel service charges, extra person charges, or incidentals, such as room service. Converted rates are provided for your convenience. They are based on today's exchange rate, but the hotel will charge you in the local currency. taxes may be payable in addition
