Valet/front desk staff was wonderful, location was great! Rooms really need to be updated. half the lights in room did not work. TV is out-dated, no decor to impress. overall the services is what will have us coming back for.

This hotel was a great deal as far as LA prices go. It was close to Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Union Station..and located on Wilshire Blvd. which was good. The room was small, and so was the bathroom. The water pressure in the bathroom was low. I stayed here for one night so for me it was a good hotel for the price and for one night. The valet parking was 25.00..that seemed excessive.

I was very impressed with the staff. They were very accommodating and gracious. The room was clean, decorated in good taste and the view was breathtaking. Normally, the first night stay in a hotel is a restless one because of the unfamiliar surroundings. I only stayed one night and it was a very restful, peaceful sleep.

Located right at little Tokyo where there are tons of Japanese restaurants. Overnight valet parking is expensive, but found free parking on 2nd st from 8p to 8a. Hotel is pretty dated but got what our basic need. Wifi works on lobby but slow on/off at room. A future renovation and upgrade is a must for this hotel. Nice staffs. Overall very good comfortable hotel right at dt area.

Only disappointment was on Saturday we had our "privacy" sign on the door. Housekeeping placed a card under the door to call when we needed our room cleaned. Did so at 1:45pm and told them we would be leaving at 2:00 and be gone the rest of the day. Arrived back about 11:00pm to a still uncleaned room. Called down Sunday morning for clean towels, etc. and they were delivered immediately.

Staff was pleasant
Room was nice and well appointed.
Very close to downtown and Staples.
I was told not to put anything in refrig or $50 added to bill. This is not good as most hotel have a refrig for just that.
My wife got bit by a bed bug even though we had white sheets. Maybe just our bad luck.
Would stay again for the convenience and value, but check the bed.

I happen to have a disability that makes walking difficult .
The location of motel isn't in a bad location but the parking garage is real difficult to get to motel from.
The elevator was not working so if I hadnt had a person with me I would never attempted to climb all those stairs with my luggage.
They charged for parking which I don't believing in paying extra for to stay at a motel.
We arrived real late which they were aware of and they didn't have anyone there to help with luggage .
We had to climb 3 flights of stairs with all our luggage because we didn't know if anything would be safe if left in vehicle

Bare bones but a good price if you need to be downtown, especially next to the Music Center. Also right next to a subway stop so convenient if you want to go to Hollywood or other places accessible without a car. Not recommended if you are staying in your hotel room for any length of time or enjoy hotel amenities, but recommended if you're just looking for a place to sleep at night downtown after being out all day.

The hotel was very convenient to visit USC.
The room was nice and was recently renovated, however, the temperature of the shower water was inconsistent. More often than not we suffered through cold showers. Street noise was incredibly loud, but the room a/c made it tolerable.

The location of this hotel was perfect for us during New Years weekend. We had laker tickets and this hotel was right up the street so that worked out perfectly for us. The location is also close to some great downtown restaurants and attractions. This hotel is not luxurious but certainly had everything we needed. Room was spacious and clean. I got a good work out at the mini gym and soaked in the jacuzzi afterwards. Would of been nice to have some kind of continental breakfast instead of just apples and granola bars. Parking is $15 per day. I would stay here again.

Seriously? charging for WIFI
-
John
- Jun 30, 2011
The stay at the hotel was perfectly fine - well appointed, courteous staff, appropriate for the level this Marriott in downtown LA would attract. But seriously...charging for WIFI for a $240/night room is frankly absurb and insulting. WIFI is free at nearly every mid-priced hotel chain in the country now, including Marriott Courtyards. It felt like the incessant "asks" for upgrades and additional services that you get when checking in at the airline kiosks now. It just pisses off your customers. Stop it.

Downtown LA on a budget
-

- Dec 24, 2011
My mates and I wanted a cheap, no frills kind of place for a weekend trip to LA for a couple concerts. We didn't want to spend $200+ a night though, especially given none of us are picky about amenities or mints on the pillow or any of that get up.
This hotel seemed to be cheapest place within ten miles of the Orpheum. I was a little concerned the neighborhood might be a little sketchy but it wasn't really bad at all. The beds were comfortable. The shower worked. The floor was all tile.
The walls are paper thin however. This was a problem when the kid staying next door starting wailing nonstop.
The parking is also fairly limited on site (about 15 spaces or so I think?), but we did manage to get a spot.
The breakfast was some cereal, bread/toast, juice, coffee, bagel. Not the best, but for the price (free) . . .
Was it perfect? No. Was it perfect for our needs? Other than the noise next door, yes.

A mix of funky and tired
-
mangoss
- May 15, 2012
The room itself was spacious but sparsely decorated, a sink and no cupboard. Bed was ok but the mattress wasn't able to be pushed up against the wall, which meant the pillows kept falling between the crack and it was really irritating. One pillow was very very lumpy and the other was perfect! The orange hand chair was a cute touch.
Shower was clean but slippery to way on tiles back to the room, so wear thongs!
They offered a complimentary breakie of nice cereals and oats and coffee, teas and OJ which was great. There are also good Mac computers and u can print vouchers and itineraries to the front desk which is very handy,
For the price, it was ok - remember to factor in tax on top of the price, I personally found it annoying when some places include tax and others don't bother to tell u till u get the bill.
The staff were not unpleasant but did not go out of their way to be friendly. There's no restaurant on site, and the shop next store in the Cecil hotel is WAY overpriced, so find a 7-11 and get basics from there.
The area is basically safe, but i wouldn't walk around there at night alone...saw a few cracked out individuals but they left me alone. Pershing Metro station is right around the corner, and is perfect for getting into Hollywood for only $1.50 each way - get off at Hollywood / Highland station and you are instantly in the tourist section where u can jump on tours etc. Metro is safe and comfortable.
I def recommend doing the movie stars tours and seeing the Hollywood Museum, it was great. Madame Toussad's was average. Just walking around the Star Walk was lots of fun. Last tip - if u need groceries, souvenirs, travel adaptors etc do NOT buy them in the first 2 blocks of the Chinese theatre - prices halve the further away you go.

Booked this hotel as it was only 1 block from where I needed to be for 3 days (so the daily commute was very short!) and the price was right when comparing to other nearby places.
Found the room to be spacious, good work area, very comfortable bed. Cleaned very nicely every day and by 1pm or so.
Given the same parameters for any future trips, I would stay there again.

The only thing I didn't like is when I came into the room for the first time the AC was off and it was very humid LA evening. There is a nice Coffe, snack place, but if you don't have a key, do expect to be locked out of the lobby restrooms. Metorail is near by. Self Parking was part of the Macy's Parking lot and costs $29 a night.
Room was clean and well apointed, but I had problems with the TV remote changing channels. The bed was nice - sleept well!

The hotel is at a perfect location for walking to convention center, staples center, grocery store and restaurants. Building is older but nicely redone and very clean. Walls are thinner than most (and more expensive hotels i.e. Marriott, etc.) so bring earplugs. Room is perfect if you're only there to sleep.
The area is very safe and walkable. CANNOT beat the price. HIghly recommend if you're on a budget.

The location was perfect for my needs. There is a grocery store just a block away as well as other excellent eating locations. The staff was very helpful, rooms were clean.
The building is old enough to be a historic landmark so of course the rooms are very small compared to today's expectations. The rooms were retro-fitted for electricity and bathrooms were added. There was plenty of hot water, but my shower mixer had been put on wrong and the water didn't "mix". When the staff was notified, a plummer appeared right away.
The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good with a nice selection. I saw many families staying there and the price was great for a family's budget.

I was not expecting much, but a clean room as it was published in Cheapticket´s page. My experience was bad. The bathroom´s door broken, the carpet very dirty and that general "odor" will remain in my memory. I could not change my hotel because it was paid and my plan was made. I suggest you to expend a little more if you are thinking in this place and try something better.

Convienently close to the Wiltern Theatre. This is a no frill Hotel. Clean but dont expect updated furniture. I did however like the art on the wall. Anyway if your looking for an over night location for Wiltern event this is the place to go to.

The hotel was in a good location could get from Santa Monica, downtown Los Angeles, Sunset blvd, and Hollywood real easy through the metro or bus which was really inexpensive. The customer service was not the best but bareable didn't have single non-smoking rooms. It was a bit of a culture shock being in k-town but over all a good place to be. The hotel has some driving service that takes you to all the touristy attractions and its affordable and get a way better experience then going on the star homes type bus things. The hotel overall is average it was in a good location but had poor customer service and the hotel was out dated and smelled.

Not bad as I expected with the previews reviews

Remodeled elevator, big rooms, breakfast was simple but good (not bad coffee), a little bit of noise from cars in the afternoon (always expected in Los Angeles), nice staff, good bed, but the showers seemed new BUT not working very well.
The location isn't the best. Korean town but It's easy to move around by bus because is walking distance from wilshire blvd.
For the prices of Los Angeles and Beverly I think it was just ok, but seems like they are trying hard

Accessible, Clean Spot

Nostalgic for Echo Park
- Nov 6, 2011
I chose to stay here because I used to live in the neighborhood and wanted to be close to my old friends and neighbors. The Super 8 is very convenient if you're getting around on public transportation (or driving) and you're planning to spend time downtown, in Elysian Park, Dodger Stadium, Echo Park, or Silver Lake. The room was clean and functional and quiet despite being on a busy street. The wifi was free and decent strength. One downside was that the beverage machine was empty--I was hoping for some non-LA-tap water! I recommend this place for travelers, but at $90 for a single person it's really not an economy hotel as you would think from the name. Three years ago my mom stayed for $60 at the same time of year, which seemed like a pretty good deal. Not sure why prices have gone up so much.
