Beautiful hotel. Nice room. Clean. Decent view. Wasn't the biggest room but it was comfortable. Could clearly hear the 'woo' girls next door at 3 a.m. Note to self, get a room without an adjoining door. Good location. A few blocks away from the Staples Center / L.A. Live / Nokia Theatre. Lots of good food within walking distance. A bit overpriced for what you get.

Located right at little Tokyo where there are tons of Japanese restaurants. Overnight valet parking is expensive, but found free parking on 2nd st from 8p to 8a. Hotel is pretty dated but got what our basic need. Wifi works on lobby but slow on/off at room. A future renovation and upgrade is a must for this hotel. Nice staffs. Overall very good comfortable hotel right at dt area.

The Athletic Club is decorated in dark woods, deep reds and leather furniture. Imagine an upper class man cave where one would smoke cigars and sip on Expensive Brandy. The walls are decorated with vintage photos of the history of the club. Very nice. Parking is $12 and the parking garage is next to the hotel. The staff at check in were very friendly, however the rest of the staff are not and don't speak unless spoken to. The room was decorated in dark grays and burgundy with 2 leather chairs, a computer desk, iPhone alarm clock that does charge and a mini fridge. WiFi is complementary. They also leave a plate of fruit and cheese which I placed in the fridge for the next morning. Very nice. The Breakfast Buffett is also complementary and was small but very good. Checkout was @ 1pm. Awesome. Upon exit our parking ticket did not work to exit and I had to show the parking attendant my parking voucher from check in. Very important not to lose that. Overall I liked the Hotel and would recommend it for singles and couples but definitely not a place for children.

I was anticipating a "typical" business hotel, but was pleasantly surprised with the boutique nature of this place. The hotel portion of the LACC is well appointed with a boutique atmosphere. The gym/athletic facilities are top rate, with an old-school style (but definitely not shabby). The hotel employees were professional and friendly. I will definitely return during my next LA trip.

No blankets on the bed but staff brought a great cotton one. Tub lever failed to block drain - took a shower instead. Garage ceiling height very low. Our Land Rover with roof rack was .5" too high in one spot - big noise but no damage. Lobby is under construction. Street vendors ply their wares in early evening with clown horns and musical ice cream truck music. But this did not run late. Easy walk to 6th Street and restaurants and Korean market.

Seriously? charging for WIFI
-
Anonymous
- Jun 30, 2011
The stay at the hotel was perfectly fine - well appointed, courteous staff, appropriate for the level this Marriott in downtown LA would attract. But seriously...charging for WIFI for a $240/night room is frankly absurb and insulting. WIFI is free at nearly every mid-priced hotel chain in the country now, including Marriott Courtyards. It felt like the incessant "asks" for upgrades and additional services that you get when checking in at the airline kiosks now. It just pisses off your customers. Stop it.

Room and location were excellent. Checkin staff were helpful. Breakfast was appalling. They took around 3/4 of an hour to serve us. Portions were small as was selection. Napkins had white fluff which meant that my pants were flecked white just before an important trade show. Definiitely room to improve here.

Staff was great. Checked in at 12AM. Requested room was not available ( king) but they upgraded me to junior suite. Which wasn't more than about 10 extra feet long. Ceiling was 20ft high though. Was in room for only 6 hrs. Had early appt next day. Due to short night asked for refund of $20/day parking few, they did refund that for me. Just ask nicely! But absurdly expensive for self parking that is behind the hotel in a shared garage. All else was great. Ohh, the "free" grab and go Breakfast was only coffee, bananas, and Granola bars, FYI.

The hotel seems to be going through a renovation. Our room was updated, but the toilet was running on check-in. Maintence fixed it after my call down, but the overall Hotel was very worn and needed some updating. I wouldn't feel comfortable eating there or staying in an non-remodeled room. The room rate was not inexpensive either.

The hotel is a good location, a couple blocks from the metro, a short walk to many restaurants. The room was clean(except the closet left its odor on my clothes), the bathroom was very clean, but I had to wait for towels after check-in. The first thing I checked for was unwelcomed bugs and was relieved not to fine any. I was able to take a peek into other rooms while housekeeping was there. My online discount room was smallest and darkest room on that floor. I think they save the least desirerable for budget shoppers. For a weekend in LA, a Dodger game, and great food, this hotel was good enough.

The first time I visited this hotel I stayed by myself in the dormitory rooms. I thought the hotel was very nifty, and even took pictures of all the cool decorations. Since it was a hostel style, the rate was cheaper than anything else I could find, including in Inglewood, and it even offered breakfast, wifi, and a public kitchenette. When my boyfriend and I needed a place to stay in LA again, I wanted to stay there again so I could show him all the neat stuff they offered, though the rate for a private queen room wasn't the cheapest around.. and boy, was he not amused! There were SO many people on the streets at 1am (since it was a Saturday night), it took 45 minutes to check in, the room only had a fan, no A/C, with sirens blasting in the background all night, and the room itself seemed rather "baseline". It did not hold it's grandeur like it did for my first visit. We also made the mistake of trying to both use one of the separate showers together; the space in those reminded me of a cramped naval shower. The breakfast is pretty paltry, but at least the kitchen offered a way to reheat our leftovers from the previous night, and the wifi and computers allowed us to print out some tickets we needed. I would return here if traveling by myself again because you get a lot of bang for your buck, but if traveling with others, I would find nicer accommodations. Also, watch for parking! You'll be lucky if you only pay $10 for overnight parking in this area. I ended up with a hefty parking ticket for parking in the wrong place on the street during the first visit!

Booked a 1 night stay after watching a show at Nokia Theater. It was a birthday gift to my bf coz he wanted to stay at the Ritz-Carlton for his birthday. It is a great hotel with a couple of extra perks to make your stay more comfortable (tv in the bathroom, house slippers, dental kit, comb, q-tips etc). The rooms have gorgeous contemporary decor, which is my style so yes, I enjoyed my stay. Bf promised me a longer stay next time.
But is it really worth the price? Well, I am not easy to please but even I said 'wow' a few times. My bf really appreciated the surprise, which made it well, well worth it.
But but but....I guess money is one of the tools society uses to classify different items and set them apart as superior. The Ritz-Carlton is up there.
Honestly, unless money is no object to you, there are lots of great++ hotels around the area for half the price.

Overall, it's a very nice hotel for the deal that we got. I stayed twice at this hotel in the last 2 months and both times we got free upgrade to a junior suite which is nice. The rooms very spacious and one time we got a mini-kitchen and the other time a second bathroom.
Only minor issue that there was a lot of noise coming from the adjacent rooms. Looks like the walls are not that sound-proof.

It was extremely good/excellent. ,I am sorry the Hotel will be torn down in December for a 5 year rebuild, It will put over 500 employees out of work. The staff was excellent I don't know who the person who said the staff was unfriendly was but he was probably from New York. The only comment I have was I asked them why they couldn't provide transportation to the SCC campus for the Game. And was told no one had asked before. Only negative. I didn't give a 5 because everything has to be perfect like BO DERiCK (10)

For the price, a bargain! Clean room. Would have been nice to have coffee and water available all day versus just between 7-10 am.

The room was clean, nothing fancy. The employees were very kind, especially Mr. Arnold Atienza. If you are an active walking person and on a budget, this is for you in LA....

The room was clean, comfortable and has adequate space for the price. However, the carpet in the halls was old and worn out, some lights in the elevator buttons were not working, the breakfast room is very tight, the remote control for the TV would only move down the channels, not up, the TV itself is an old analog model and the volume was too low. However, the hotel is being remodeled and when that is finished it could be much better. It is located within Korea Town, two blocks of a Metro station.

Remodeled elevator, big rooms, breakfast was simple but good (not bad coffee), a little bit of noise from cars in the afternoon (always expected in Los Angeles), nice staff, good bed, but the showers seemed new BUT not working very well.
The location isn't the best. Korean town but It's easy to move around by bus because is walking distance from wilshire blvd.
For the prices of Los Angeles and Beverly I think it was just ok, but seems like they are trying hard

We booked the room two days prior to our stay and requested for a non-smoking rooming. When we arrived there were no more non-smoking room available BUT the front desk was quick to fix the problem. Our stay for one night was good, except for the cleanliness issue especially the carpeted floor whick makes my white socks turn black and the curtains are kind of dusty.
The place is not all that bad, the parking is a bit small and cost $8, also they have an LCD TV already.
