Waterfront area

Long Beach has many seaside attractions, such as the Aquarium of the Pacific, the legendary Queen Mary warship, and the Catalina Express. It also hosts plenty of events throughout the year, such as the famous Naples Island Boat Parade at Christmas, the Long Beach Museum of Art Summer Concert Series, and the Long Beach Grand Prix, which is held annually each April and often attracts more than 200,000 spectators. For those who like peace and quiet, there are a variety of parks that are perfect for strolling. Palm Beach Park, Shoreline Aquatic Park, Rainbow Lagoon Park, and Marina Green Park all provide opportunities to get some exercise in beautiful surroundings.

The area along the coastline has a variety of lodgings, including the Queen Mary Hotel, where the average rate for one night’s room is $103. A step up from that is the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, where the average room costs $139. If you are on more of a budget, you can try the Long Beach Convention Center Travelodge, where rooms may cost as little as $71 per night.

Downtown

One of the best things to do in Long Beach is visit its famous water attractions, but the city also has a great selection of shopping down the main street and an appreciation for arts and crafts. Pine Avenue has fabulous outdoor shopping and vendors selling delicious food from foreign cuisines. Every second Saturday, painters, photographers and ceramic artists gather there to sell their art. In this part of town, you can also find a variety of jewelry and antique stores, which offer a great range of treasures that are just waiting to go to a good home.

If you enjoy theater, then head on down to the Long Beach playhouse. This iconic building hosts 13 shows annually, so there is a good chance one will be playing while you are in town. Nearby hotels include the Best Western of Long Beach, where a night’s stay costs $103. You can find less expensive accommodation at either Days Inn Long Beach City Center or Royal Inn Motel Long Beach, where rooms cost roughly $57 and $46 respectively.
